We've had our above ground pool for 4 years and have used the ladder that came with it and a $250. ladder we later purchased. Both felt felt un-steady to us. So, we bought this $1,200. stair system and we are glad we did! It came in 4 boxes over 5 days time. Nothing was missing, well packed. A bit time consuming to put together but then again, we are a couple in our mid-seventies. Some instruction pictures were a little hard to see and the videos suggested didn't match exactly. But we figured it out without too much stress. (Taking a occasional break helped!) We followed the directions completely including the adding of sand, which we weighed to be sure we had the correct amount. When using a power drill to insert the screws, be careful not to go too deep - slow and steady will pay off. We did ask a couple of young neighbors to set it in the water for us. Make no mistake, this is not fine furniture. It is molded plastic. But that said, it looks right at home with our pool. Once together, it is sturdy and feels so much safer than our previous ladders. There is no movement either in the water or on the concrete. The steps flex a bit but not enought to cause concern. The hand rails are steady with very little play. The steps are steep but an appropriate balance of space and usefulness. The gate works fine with very little sag. All in all, and considering the $250. ladder we used for 2 seasons, this system is well worth the cost. ... show more

Putting this together was not too difficult but either way it was worth every penny. Seeing my mother and father being able to get in and out of the pool safely was the biggest relief.

After reading the reviews on these steps I was a bit skeptical. But then realized they were very simple to put together. My only two complaints are the gate doesn’t auto latch like it’s supposed to. Also the bridge step doesn’t seem like it should be weight bearing since it’s just a few screws not like the rest. Otherwise happy with my purchase. ... show more

Really well designed! Some people have mentioned it floating and having to add sand filled PVC for weight... It's designed to pour sand into the frame once you have it in the pool; that is what weights it. Then you can just leave it in place for winter and only remove part of the railing for your cover. The outside stairs are moderately steep, but very compact which is nice. For instance we live in the mountains and leveled a section of our yard with a backhoe and road bond to create a 'slab' for a 32x16, so we are pretty close to a bank on the deck side of the pool. So the compactness of the outside stairs worked great in our situation! The stairs into the pool are more gradual. Good platform at the top for turn around. What else...good tread on the stairs. Slight drawback is there's a space on the backside of each outside stair. So potentially if you're being rowdy your leg could go through, but that would only be like running up them fast. The tread is so significant your foot definitely won't slip through. If you're older and going up them at a walking pace, I can't see it being an issue, but it is a safety thing my husband grumbled about. Possibly an issue for longer legged big dogs. Definitely want to go backwards down outside stairs unless you're athletic. Handrails slightly jiggle, but feel secure. Again, not being rowdy, everything feels very safe. Having had other stairs these are beyond sturdy. It is critical that you take your time and assemble it correctly. I have Multiple Sclerosis and could not possibly get in the pool without these. The step rise is a bit steep and honestly difficult for me but it saves space and exercising in the Pol is worth the effort! We have grandkids and also love the safety gate. For the record, I am 250lbs and the stairs support me easily. ... show more

So, pros... They look fantastic, they're sturdy (I'm a big guy and feel completely secure on these stairs), and we love having real steps in and out of our above ground pool instead of those rickety ladders, and it can be secured to keep little ones from getting in when they're not supposed to. Now, the cons... To begin with, the instructions could definitely be a lot clearer and the pictures are low quality making it hard to see exactly what they're doing when the description doesn't exactly make it clear. You can download digital versions online which have much better pictures and there are YouTube videos if you need, but they should have just made things more clear. Also, look at all the vertical poles and pieces on these stairs. Nearly every single piece, with the exception of the connecting piece between the two sets of stairs, all have to be cut off the other pieces. They come in big Chunks still held together at the seem where they were molded. They cut easily enough with a box cutter, but come on... For the price of these stairs, you can have those pieces ready to go with the seems sanded down. This is inexcusable. You also have to cut 4 wedges off of every step that become what secures them from the other side of where you put them in. Also, getting the vertical supports for the handrails in after you've added sand is a B so have a soft rubber mallet handy. Overall, great design and great product but they kinds molded all the pieces and went, "well... Good enough 🤷" and left their customers having to finish what they should completed in the manufacturering of the stairs. If you're selling a product at a superior price, the customer should have a superior experience. Homestly wouldn't care if they were like 300 bucks cheaper but at this price, at least pretend to care about your customers. ... show more

Everything went great with the pool stairs. Everything came in good condition and delivered perfect. All parts were there. Easy to set up. Very study. Love the handrails too. Steps are wide and accommodating. My husband is 89 and I’m a senior citizen as well. We now can get in and out of our pool with ease, and safely. This was a little pricey for plastic - it reminds me of the "Little Tikes" toys I bought for my kids. Now that I have grandkids, the ladder I purchased has a gate that goes across the steps to prevent unsupervised entry into the pool. This in itself is a great feature and I felt worth the $$$. I bought it to use with my 52" Intex XTR pool. The ladder that comes with the kit when you purchase the pool is a joke so I purchased this one instead. The steps are wider and provide more stability for both kids and adults. Very happy with the purchase. Assembly was a little tricky. I went out on YouTube and between the directions that came with the ladder and the videos on YouTube, I delegated the job to my hubby that had no problem with figuring it out. Very happy with the purchase and it looks really nice with the pool. Instructions will tell you to use sand to keep it from floating when submersed into the pool. Works Great! ... show more
