The dirt defender gold grade cover is constructed of our strongest and most tear resistant material. This cover features rugged u.v. stabilized woven polyethylene that protects it from sun, snow, wind and ice. It features a black underside to retard algae growth and heat sealed seams to ensure a crystal clear pool next spring. The cover features a big 4-feet overlap that means it will fit pools with wider top rails and will not stretch and rip like smaller 3-feet overlap covers. This dirt defender gold grade cover is held secure by a heavy duty cable and winch tightener that is anchored to the cover by rip proof metal grommets. I bought this cover in October 2016...by end of April 2017 it was garbage. It tore across a seam. Contacted the Amazon seller named Jay B. (who I have to say was very rude, wouldn't let me speak and then started to raise his voice at me) who tells me the manufacture won't replace because it was due to wind damage due to not having water jugs holding the cover down. For their information...we use the cable, and shrink wrap around the edge. You're not supposed to use water jugs on the cover. But since they're claiming we used it improperly...they won't replace.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would! This pool cover performed no better than a much less expensive version I had previously. I've had a pool for over 24 years, so I am very familiar with how to put the covers on. My very good cover lasted years, until it needed replacing. I decided to try this brand. Big waste of time and money, as it had grommets come out over the winter, tore over the uprights in 3 places, and let water go thru into our pool. In trying to drain the water off of the cover, the water from inside the pool actually seeped thru the cover as well, leading to draining nearly my entire pool! In trying to pull the cover over to the side to try to empty the water off of it, the seam where the grommets were literally shredded right off, as if the cover was dry rotted! DO NOT BUY THIS COVER, it's a waste of money!

This pool cover was used one winter and some of the seams are coming apart. No big deal because it has a 15 year warranty, right? Wrong. The one page warranty details are sketchy and offers no phone number or return/repair information. Finding their website required a lot of research, and once found we sent email after email, left phone message after phone message, only to be told that the company would get back to us in 3-5 business days each time. That was a couple of months ago. Now we're a few weeks out from having to cover the pool again and no closer to having this situation resolved. Extremely frustrating.

The first winter was not bad in my area, however this cover fell apart and water kept seeping up through the cover. I couldn't pull the water off because I was draining my pool in doing so. My water was crystal clear in the spring but once the contents from the top of the cover went in, the water was filthy. I was upset and contacted the company utilizing my 15 year warranty. She said the weaving may have had a defect. For the cost of shipping, they sent me a new cover. Year two, same thing happened again. Defect in two covers? I'm not sure but I will not spend another shipping fee to replace this cover. I will buy a completely different cover from a different company when I close my pool at the end of this summer. I only bought this cover based on its reviews, but it is absolutely horrible. I close my pool the right way, completely treated. The water is crystal clear until all the contents of the cover go in.

Did not last 1 winter. The cheap cable broke mid winter so now I have to either buy another cover in a hurry or let it ride out and change the water in the summer. Ughh. The pain of cheap quality long outlasts the satisfying cheap price. Beware of this cover. It’s a waste of time and money. I would be in the same boat as I am right now had I not covered the pool at all, but I spent money and did the work as if I had.

Thanks to the great Amazon customer service, I'm getting a refund (less a small restocking fee) for this piece of crap pool cover. I put the cover on exactly according to the directions. It appeared to be fine all winter - it didn't sink in anywhere or blow off. But when my husband and I siphoned the water off the top of the cover in the spring, it was apparent the cover leaked. We kept siphoning, but the water on top of the cover wasn't going down. What was happening was that we were actually siphoning out the pool water. Since we couldn't get the water off the top of the cover, we had to pull the cover off the best we could, which meant dumping everything into the pool. The water in the pool is always crystal clear, but this made a huge mess and took about a week to get cleaned up. Needless to say, I contacted Blue Wave Products, the manufacturer, since the cover is supposed to be under warranty from defects. The link from Amazon takes you to their web page where you have to fill out a form electronically. The instruction on the form said to allow 3 - 5 days for a reply. Eight days later - nothing. I tried emailing the customer service email address. Nothing. Finally I found a customer service telephone number, which I called many times for two days. They don't even answer the phone, and there is no way to leave a voice mail or talk to a human. This just unacceptable. I messaged Amazon, and they were kind enough to take care of it for me. I have to return the cover and they will credit me everything but an $18 restocking fee. That is my best option, since Blue Wave apparently is going to do nothing, even though the product supposedly has a warrantee. I do not recommend this product or buying anything from Blue Wave.

Consumers beware....purchased a pool cover about 2 years ago from Amazon...18ft dia., somewhere around $50-$60 bucks. Needed a new one this year, wanted the same as it was very nice for the money, but Amazon's was out of stock...so purchased 3rd party seller, more expensive AND $12.00 + in shipping and it was NOT the same! It was pure JUNK! Very thin, cable was short. ect. Could have bought same cheap cover from local pool supplier MUCH cheaper...did not receive what was advertised, and due to possible hurricane florence approaching...I have to use it...but it is so thin, I'm pretty sure it will not make it through the winter.snow ice ect. The cable that comes with it is much thinner and barely makes it around the dia. of pool...could not use it. I think first cover I purchased was "blue wave"...and was very very nice...DO NOT PURCHASE 3RD PARTY'S JUNK...THAT IS CLAIMED TO BE THE SAME BECAUSE IT IS NOT!!!! Amazon you need to check this out and ban this seller! Very disappointed in Virginia.
