  • Ladder Great!!! Company Great!!!
Style: Complete Pool Step & Ladder Entry Sy...
I HIGHLY recommend Mark's Pool Store. They by far have the BEST customer service. There was a mix up on an order for a pool ladder placed through Amazon over a year ago. After reaching out to the company, Mark communicated with us throughout the process and promptly straightened the order out. I will definitely be ordering from Mark's Pool Store again and again!!! Oh, and by the way, the ladder is great - sturdy - get for little ones and older folks. ... show more

  • Mostly good, except wall rests keep coming loose
Style: Complete Pool Step & Ladder Entry Sy...
Like the pool steps because My back doesn’t allow me to climb a ladder. The only thing we hate about them is the step thing that holds the walls flat in the water. The darned thing keeps sliding out and we find it floating around the pool . Annoying!! We call it the “water ski”. It is a real pain having to slide it in each time. There is not any way to permantly attach it. Even cable ties don’t help. ... show more

  • Love this pool entry system, but does need a little fine tuning
Style: Complete Pool Step & Ladder Entry Sy...
We have been using the stair entry system for a month and have been very pleased with it. So far, it does just what we need it to do - provide easy and safe entry into our pool. My husband has bad knees and this system has made a huge difference in that he can enjoy the pool. We did purchase the recommended weights and pad, and we are glad we did. Our only negative is that the left side entry rail keeps loosening. Because it is just resin, my husband is afraid that eventually we will be unable to tighten it. He is trying to figure out a more long-term fix to keep things tight. Over-all, we are very pleased with the product. ... show more

  • Gate doesn't secure properly on hinge side
Style: Complete Pool Step & Ladder Entry Sy...
The stairs are fairly sturdy after putting sand in the pool side, but the gate does not attach properly. The screws when put in as instructed don't secure it in place and it is loose. I've tried to contact the seller by phone, they keep you on hold then hang up. After leaving my number several times, I finally gave up. I couldn't find another product like this, so I didn't return it. I'll have to figure out a work around and probably put more screws in but in a secure place. For the money, this design problem should be fixed. ... show more

  • Easy in .... easy out
Style: Complete Pool Step & Ladder Entry Sy...
At first I had a little sticker shock on this item....let me tell you it has allowed my Mama and Grandma to enter the pool first time in many many years. When I saw them it made my heart swoon and any after thought was gone!!!! Priceless!!! It was super easy to get together and fit my above ground like a glove. I bought it, received it and installed it in 5 days. I can't give enough positive words to the whole process. I would 1000% recommend this entry system to anyone looking!!!! ... show more

  • Terrible Design! Do not purchase!
Style: Complete Pool Step & Ladder Entry Sy...
I needed a "self locking" ladder for my pool and the Blue Wave Easy Pool Step Entry System always came up in my online searches and it appeared pretty good. And for the $600 I spent on it I figured it must be somewhat decent. Well, I learned the hard way this ladder is horrible and I would give it no stars if I could. First, the pool side steps wouldn't sink. Even after putting in the 40 pounds of sand that the instructions say. The steps would not sink! I had to pour concrete into the base of the steps in order for it to finally sink! Some of the screws in the packing were the wrong size and some of the plastic parts were poorly cut. I also found out the 'self locking gate" doesn't work. The whole point of this gate, is when you open the gate and walk into or out of the pool, it will close behind you. Well, the gate doesn't even move. It'll only close if you slam it shut and even then it often doesn't want to close. The ladder simply is not made properly. The instructions are of little use either as there are plenty of black and white pictures that are so poor it's difficult to see what they are trying to depict. I had my pool inspection and the first thing he said when he saw my pool was that ladder has to go. For $600 on amazon, I just can't believe a company can sell something of such POOR quality that doesn't even work as adevertised. ... show more

  • Ok item with issues!
Style: Complete Pool Step & Ladder Entry Sy...
First it is definitely better than a typical standard pool ladder. However; I find it expensive. In fact it cost more than my entire pool and filter. The directions are lacking. My main issue is that they need to disclose up front before purchase that you will need 75 lbs. of play sand to hold it down and stable. So a trip to the big box home store was needed. I would not have minded so much if it were simply disclosed to me up front. I didn't discover this until I was well into assembly. The bottom rails are a worthless waste of time. To me it seems like an after thought by the engineers and it don't work. It wont take long before the cheap zip ties that hold the bottom rails on break off. The gate seems to have been a design after thought as well. It doesn't line up well it needs to be perfectly flat and level or you will have issues with it self closing as its supposed to do. DO NOT MAKE A MISTAKE WHEN YOU INSTALL THE LATCH OR YOUR SUNK! It is plastic and once the holes are in that's it. If you mess this up and trust me its easy to do mainly because the directions are so poor you will wind up with holes and nothing to hold the screws into. It does go together quick once you figure it out but everything seems like it was designed after the fact. The design for the money should have been and could have easily been far better than it is. The snap in treads tend to loosen and seem like they are not safe even thought they do hold the weight advertized the entire unit seems shaky and unstable. The play sand is a must! I've modified mine to be 100% stronger and more stable but the cost of the stainless steel hardware will set you back even more money and you should not have to do this on a $600 item. I used Stainless steel threaded rod washers and nuts and ran them threw the steps and frame and it worked well. I bought this because I needed an easier and safer way to enter the pool for older guests. This seems to be the only game in town. I can't find any other product so I was kind of forced into buying this one. Bottom line is I needed these steps so I made them safe my own self. If I didn't need this item I defiantly would pass on it. It's poorly designed, poor directions and a whole lot of money for plastic junk. I almost forgot. They really have no clue designing this item. Dead algae collects everywhere on these steps and they are difficult to clean. Try starting with the top stem with a small brush. Wipe out each narrow tread so the algae falls down to the next step and so on until you get the algae to fall on the bottom of the pool then simply vac it up. You must also sweep out every nook and cranny. It's insanity! The tubes should be simple and straight and the treads wider spaced so you wipe it out with a finger it would also be easier on bare feet. Do these guy actually own a pool? I have my doubts. Did they test this in a pool? Why do the customers have to tell them all the issues with their product? That can't be a good thing. One last trick, leave the bottom riser off,it wont stay on anyway and you can vac the algae under the stairs since getting to the back is not easy or even possible in some pools. Moving the stairs when they are weighted down with sand is also not easy. Either that or just leave the algae on and near the stairs alone. What ever you do, don't allow any play near or around the stairs. The stairs can be the most dangerous place for kids to be. They like to jump off them, swim between the hand rails and even try to get behind the stairs. So to avoid possible drowning, I'm serious, watch the kids and enforce this rule! UPDATE: They now make weights that attach to the sides of the steps. Fill them with sand instead of the steps. I haven't tried them yet but it sounds like a good idea. Around $20. It is easier to instal and remove the steps this way, makes sense. In order for me to use them I have to remove the sand from the steps then fill the weights. Not sure if I want to bother with that at this time. Update: faults not withstanding, it's 3 years old and still works well! update, nearly 5 years old, still standing! ... show more
