Description

Closing a pool for winter should not mean months of cleanup or a green pool in spring. The Blue Wave Arctic Armor 24-ft Round Above Ground Pool Winter Cover is a heavy-duty solid pool tarp built to handle everything the off-season brings, so you can close up in fall and return to a cleaner pool when spring arrives. It’s made with a 10x12 scrim woven polyethylene, a dense, tear- resistant material that forms a solid barrier against leaves, sticks, rain, and snow. The reinforced, heat-sealed seams form a watertight bond across the cover to block moisture and debris and help prevent rips. Because the panel is solid rather than mesh, it keeps water from passing through and limits evaporation over winter. The black underside blocks sunlight throughout the off-season to help limit dirt buildup in the pool, which reduces the maintenance work needed at opening time. Securing the cover is straightforward. The rust-resistant aluminum grommets spaced every 2 feet work with the included vinyl-coated cable and metal winch to lock the cover down evenly, withstanding strong winds, rain, and snow. The 4-ft overlap extends well beyond the pool wall for a snug, wind-resistant fit, and a helper makes installation faster on a pool this size. This is a winter debris cover, not a safety cover. Do not walk on it or allow it to support weight. After a heavy snow, clear the buildup from the pool edge with a soft-bristle broom. To keep the pool cleaner, use a cover pump to remove standing water that collects on top of the cover after storms. Backed by Blue Wave’s 12-year limited warranty (full coverage in year 1 and prorated coverage in years 2 through 12), U.S.-based customer support and over 35 years of pool industry experience. This swimming pool cover is sized for 24-ft round pools only. Complete with securing hardware, including the winch and cable, so everything needed for installation is in the box.

  • Good cover, great price!
Color: Forest Green Size: 18' (Round)
We have an 18' diameter pool and bought the size recommended for it. It covered the pool exactly as shown in their photos... which is perfect. (If you want your cover to have more overhang then buy a larger size, but I do think their photos are accurate/non-misleading!) We live in Indiana and get pretty strong winds at times. I think a lot of ppl make the mistake of trying to keep all the water off the top of their pool cover, but the weight of the water or ice on top is what keeps gusting winds from billowing under your pool cover and ripping it... and possibly your pool's cap rail.... away. Regarding durability: No it's not going to last 12 years, and you have to read the fine print to see how they're warrantying that, but anyone who's owned a pool for a length of time knows that a 12-year pool cover is too good to be true (unless maybe some space-age material costing a LOT more than 40 bucks!) My experience: got us through 4 winters. The parts that remained at least mostly submerged look to be in good shape still. The edges, above water & exposed to sun are now very fragile and can poke a finger through. So... ordering another one to use this fall. ... show more

  • Lasted the whole winter in bad conditions
Color: Forest Green Size: 18' (Round)
Last year I purchased this exact cover and it didn't work out. By early spring the cover was torn and basically only functioned as a sun shade. I did some research and realized that this was a user error and not necessarily the product, so I gave it another chance. This time I was very careful and followed the directions. The cover was put on correctly and so far has held up to some very windy conditions... The same ones that did in last year's cover. I will update if this cover is shredded in the spring, but I don't anticipate that being the case. It isn't the thickest cover, but should get 2-3 years. Even the expensive ones start to fail after that. UPDATE: We have had some terrible wind over the past few weeks and the cover has held up well. I recently drained the water off the top and there is no damage to the cover. As I said before, the key is to follow the directions and make sure the cover isn't pulling on the side of the pool. It has to be sitting inside with slack. If so it will hold up. No cover will make it with all the weight of water pulls on it. Follow the directions and this is just as good as covers costing three times as much. UPDATE #2: We are now on year four and the cover has held up. I will definitely buy this again. Just make sure you follow the directions and it isn't too taunt and you will be good to go! ... show more

  • Not bad. Lasted longer than expected
Color: Forest Green Size: 24' (Round)
While it did not last 12 years.....Purchased in 2018 and this is 2022, it did its job well while it lasted. This is the first year it had a hole it in at all. And, i let the top of it fill with water over the underlying pool water to keep it from blowing away in the Oklahoma wind. I have purchased a 300$ cover in the past and it only lasted 1 winter, so for me, this is a bargain! Easy to put on and once i pump the water off the top of it, it's easy to get off. I also use their leaf net which really helps get the big particles off the top before i pump the water off. The leaf net is still going strong and i purchased that at the same time. Purchased a new cover, the same one, again today! ... show more

  • Not the same product, new material is garbage
Color: Forest Green Size: 21' (Round)
Was good, now it's junk I've bought 6 of these exact same items over the years, they used to be a durable material that held up to the winter ice. The one that arrived with Sept 2025 purchase is paper thin and was full of leaks, tears and holes by December. The new material is a fraction of the weight of the old material and you can easily tear it just with your hands. ... show more

  • Very good product, much better than we expected for the price.
Color: Forest Green Size: 24' (Round)
We've had an above ground pool for 36 years, we're on our 3rd one now so we've had several winter covers. We're in WI so the off-season is tough--ice, snow, high winds, leaves, you name it. This is the best one we've had so far. Yes, it's less expensive, but it was much easier to put on that the others and seems like a better product. We've had the mesh type where the water can go thru, this one is solid. We didn't use their wire closer, we prefer to use rope. We did separately purchase clips to hold the cover in place, instead of the goofy milk bottles filled with water. Those tended to tear after a few years. EDIT: We've now used it for almost a year, we closed the pool down last October and just opened it up today. We were thrilled with the product. It was totally occlusive so the crummy water, leaves and debris stayed on top. We put our submersible pump on it as we started to remove it to suck up the excess water. We pulled off the clips we bought, which did a terrific job, pulled off the cover and the water in the pool was in almost pristine condition. There was a little debris at the bottom to vaccuum from last year, but the water looked clean enough to swim in. Don't worry, we won't until we treat it. I just wanted to update to tell you that now we're even more happy that we bought it. ... show more

  • Did the job I wanted it to do!
Color: Forest Green Size: 24' (Round)
I bought this cover with the intention of using once, throwing out, and buying a new one and it worked perfectly for that. I don’t want to mess around with cleaning and storing it. We opened to a crystal clear pool this year after a winter of snow, rain, and wind. It held up well and I will be repurchasing for this year. The winch tool is cheaply made and broke right away but we made it work and also weighed down the cover with milk jugs filled with water. Without that, I’m not sure it would hold up as well if you live where it gets windy in the winter. A few corners of the cover would flap up a bit in the wind but the milk jugs kept it from causing a problem. When we took the cover off it was in great shape so it might be able to be used a second year but again I’d rather buy new then clean and store. Will purchase again! ... show more

  • Expect one winter of service
Color: Forest Green Size: 24' (Round)
I'm in eastern Pennsylvania, so the cover goes on for October through April (7 months). This is probably the most cheaply-made cover I have ever put on the pool. As it is, I usually only get two seasons out of a high-quality cover. I suspect this one will last just one season. The cover itself is like a large round tarp with grommets, nothing special. It feels thin. The higher-quality units I have purchased in the past are thicker and heavier. The provided cable was long enough and does the job of holding the cover fast. The provided winch is about the same quality as I have gotten with every cover I have purchased. The cover I got had a defect such that a hole was punched in it (the size of a grommet hole). It was not in a position for a grommet, so it was clearly a manufacturing error. However, it is close enough to the outer edge of the cover that it does not affect the function of it. I think it increases the likelihood that the cover will tear in that spot. The size of the cover is more than enough for a 24' round swimming pool. I estimate there is about one foot of overlap on each side. This is with an air pillow in the center of the pool and the water level about a foot from the top. Our pool's location is such that it is tough on the winter covers. There are nearby maple and pine trees that drop plenty of leaves and needles onto the cover. Although I try to keep it clean of those things by using the leaf rake, the pine needles in particular seem to destroy even the most rugged winter covers after two seasons. Based on the quality of this one, I expect it to last just one season. I learned the hard way...Once the cover allows water to penetrate it, it is worthless and you will be opening a green pool in the spring. One of the reasons I chose this unit was because it was Amazon Prime eligible. I do not think I would purchase this cover again. I would go with either the cheapest cover (which I hope would also last one season) or try a different brand at a similar pricepoint to see if I luck out and get better quality. Your mileage may vary. If you are located in a warmer climate where the cover is not used as long or not subject to strong winds, snow, ice, leaves and pine needles, a cover like this one could last you several years. If you are looking at pool covers, you already know that pools are expensive to operate, and the winter cover is a trivial expense in the big picture. Good luck. ... show more

  • Good cover.
Color: Forest Green Size: 28' (Round)
Had one of these before. They are good and tough keeps the pool clean of debris. They will not stand up to three inch in diameter hail which is why I’m purchasing again. But I don’t expect anything to make it through that after looking at my vehicle damage. Would definitely recommend because the cheap alternatives rip and tear in the wind. I doubt I get 12 years out of it in Oklahoma weather but even 3-4 years it’s worth the money. Good overlap and easy to install. Cable can be made banjo string tight and the ratchet grips it effectively. ... show more
