That time of the year to close the pool and protect it from the falling leaves. Also time to purchase a new pool cover as the last one had made it through two seasons. The pool experts at most sites indicate that if you get a pool cover to last more than 2 years, you did well; fact is, they are really not designed to last more than 2 years. You do have options, a 10 year, a 12 year, but never believe that it will last that long. This pool cover comes with a 2 year full warranty and then the rest is prorated (just replace it - don't expect to really use the warranty). Ok, so why did I give this one 5 stars? I knew what to expect and wasn't being un-realistic about the warranty. However, this cover has benefits over others I have bought in the past. Having owned our above ground pool for 14 years, that means I have purchased about 7 of these. What makes this one different? Well I have a 24 foot round pool and I use a 6' pillow in the middle. Typical covers have had a hard time covering the pool even though they stated that there would be 1.5 feet overlap. Throw in the pillow and the cover barely fit. This one has a true 2 foot or more overlap for a 24' foot pool; it also allows for an 18 inch drop in water, leaving plenty of material to completely cover your pool. I put the huge 6' foot pillow in the middle, covered the pool and was surprised, amazed and ecstatic that this cover covered completely. Now, read the instructions: Do no drain water off the top of the cover during the winter time (I always did this, maybe doing so contributes to weakening the pool cover). Their reasoning is, this protects it from the wind damage. Make sure your water doesn't drop more than the 18 inches (check). Oh, and the grommets seem to be more of them than others I have bought and everyone of them were in place (unlike others I have purchased where there were fewer of them and some of them weren't there. The only complaint is this. If they would box the cover inside out, it would make installation simple. I try to not put in on my deck (don't want to snag it) or open it on the ground (and get trash in the pool). So I opened it up on top of the pool, carefully unfolding it, but since it was folded with the outside on top, makes it very difficult; flip the initial packaging and this would be the perfect cover. When I take it off in spring, it will be folded outside in so that installation is a breeze! ... show more

I had the cover for 1.5 years and it already developed holes. I purchased for $39.99. I thought I was golden because I was in the 2 year period for 100% coverage relative to the 12-year pro-rated warranty. My thought was that I'd either: 1. Receive a check or credit back on my card in that amount to buy a new cover with. 2. I'd be sent a brand new cover for free because it's 100% if in the first 2 years of purchase. I was told by Blue Wave Group the following which is a direct quote from an email: "Thank you for the photos and proof of purchase. We would be happy to replace the 12-Year 15-ft Round Above Ground Pool Winter Cover (WC801). Under the warranty agreement you are responsible for the prorated amount of $xx for the cover plus the shipping amount of $23.80. An additional service charge of 3% ($0.71) is applied to all credit card purchases. Total cost: $24.51" This means that I had a full warranty with a defective product within a year and a half yet am still required to pay $24.51 to receive a new cover and that is my ONLY option. That means that Blue Waves "100% reimbursement period" is actually only a 1-($24.51/$39.99) x 100 = 38.7% reimbursement. To put in other words, it's impossible to: 1. Get a new cover even if it fails within 4 months without paying 61.3% of the price you paid to begin with. 2. Receive any amount of reimbursement if you don't turn around and buy another cover from them. 3. Utilize your membership paid for free Amazon shipping after you make the initial purchase because Blue Group forces you to go directly through them. This is my first review but I must do it. Blue Wave customer service is unbelievably good. I bought a 12 year pool cover. It started to seep water in the 3rd year. The sent me a replacement right away. The replacement unfortunately is a couple of inches larger although the size is right, so I called. They wanted to make sure that I have the right cover for the pool so they agreed to send me another replacement free of charge. I was pleasantly surprised! I would have gladly paid the ship at least. Had one of these before. They are good and tough keeps the pool clean of debris. They will not stand up to three inch in diameter hail which is why I’m purchasing again. But I don’t expect anything to make it through that after looking at my vehicle damage. Would definitely recommend because the cheap alternatives rip and tear in the wind. I doubt I get 12 years out of it in Oklahoma weather but even 3-4 years it’s worth the money. Good overlap and easy to install. Cable can be made banjo string tight and the ratchet grips it effectively. ... show more
