In-Ground Winter Cover with 8-Year Warranty. This Defender entry level cover has the strength and durability of covers costing twice as much. Rugged polyethylene scrim and coating means that this cover can withstand winters worst. Defender covers are U.V. protected so they will last for years in direct sunlight. The coverโ€™s black underside retards algae growth and heat sealed seams means a crystal clear pool next spring. The Defender 8-Year cover comes with loops every four feet to secure water bags, and corner grommets allow for extra tie down in windy areas. The cover is 5 feet longer and wider than the pool size, and comes in a dark navy blue with a black underside. This Defender cover is backed by an 8 year warranty.

Good product. I live in the North East and freezing rain, wind and snow are pretty bad. I usually use a new one each year. I can put them on my 34X16 pool by myself. They hold up well and have never leaked through to the pool water. They get pretty dirty with leaves and such, and I do not like to use them again. So I just buy a new one each year. after a good couple days of rain I got at least a few hundred gallons of free water redirected into the pool defraying the cost of the cover somewhat (minus any electric bill from my pump which would be minimum at best).

I really liked the instructions relating to not stretching the pool cover. I figured this out by myself in recent years. This and any cover will fail if the cover is not fitted directly to the pool wall at the water line. If their is any space between the pool wall and the cover it will break. Water is 8 pounds per gallon. Also, if you drain the water off your cover and there is a layer of ice on it it will stretch and split the seams. Only drain water when there is no more danger of it freezing. ... show more

The thickness is much less than I thought it would be. I am not confident it will survive the winter. I have a concrete coping around the pool. There are areas that rub up against the concrete rounded corners and such. I can only hope those areas will not open up prior to the spring. However, overall, for the price even if I only get one good clean winter out of the cover, I will be satisfied. My cover from last year seemed thicker, and several spots still wore through almost, but not quite, completely. ... show more

The new, still in the box, cover was stored in my dining room until pool closing. When the pool company came to close my pool, opened the box to find part of the cover glued or melted together in parts. They showed me, we pried it apart which showed melted holes in the liner. I had them cover the pool with it anyway because i would have had to pay for another service appointment if I went to get another cover. Now I have to buy ANOTHER new one next year!!! Wouldn't think i would have to examine a pool cover before the actual closing!!! ... show more
