- Fine Mesh Debris Barrier: This mesh pool cover has 0.15-in openings that trap leaves, pine needles, twigs, and fine debris before they reach your winter cover; rain and snowmelt also drain through freely, keeping the cover flat and clean
- Reinforced Anchoring Points: The reinforced corner grommets and water tube loops every 4 feet lock this leaf net for pool perimeters in place; works with or without a winter cover (sold separately)
- Quick 2-Person Setup: Two people can unfold this swimming pool leaf net in minutes; no tools required
- Easy Cleanup and Storage: Use this pool leaf net cover in early fall to collect leaves through the season, then remove before the first heavy snowfall; for proper care, brush off debris, let the net dry fully, then fold and store in a cool dry place
- Reliable Quality from Blue Wave: This net pool cover is backed by Blue Wave's 4-year limited warranty (year 1 is fully covered, years 2 to 4 are prorated at 30%, 20%, and 10%), U.S.-based customer support, and over 35 years of pool industry experience
Description
Eliminate the mess caused by decaying leaves each spring. Install a dirt defender leaf net over your winter cover this fall and make spring opening quick and easy. The leaf net's tight mesh traps even the smallest leaves before they reach your winter cover. Other brands of leaf nets have larger mesh that allows small leaves to pass through to your winter cover and decompose in the spring. Simply lay the dirt defender leaf net on top of your winter cover when you close your pool and remove it before the first snow. Your cover will be virtually leaf free and spring clean-up will be a snap. Eliminates that messy swamp of decaying leaves. Above-ground leaf nets have an extra 3-feet overlap and include a cable and winch to hold it securely in place over your winter cover. Black mesh fabric.

Great Product to keep large leaves off the swimming pool!
Size: 16-ft x 32-ft
During the winter months, my neighbor's trees lose all their leaves and make a mess in my pool. The leaf net was a great leaf catcher and although it still allows the dirt and smaller leaves in the pool, it was quite useful! It's very light, easy to spread across the pool, weighted down with the water bags, stayed put during the wind, and I was able to take it off the pool without dumping the leaves in to the pool. And I did it by myself, I am a 64 year old woman. Now that all the leaves are off the tree I don't need it anymore, but it's good for next Fall. You do need to be careful, it tears easily.

Owned this for 3 years... works as designed and desired
Size: 20-ft x 40-ft
Bought the 20 x 40 net... back in winter of 2020.... We are still using it... Each year, we take the net (that has been semi-sorta .. "folded or thrown into a clump" ... simply stretch back out and put it on the pool. The first year.. we used the "pool tubes (i.e. tubes full of water) .. and placed them so carefully around the pool... Worked flawlessly.... Second year.. just used some fasteners (okay ... others would call these bricks and/or painted 2x4s) .. to hold down the net. In all seriousness.. because the net is large enough to cover the 24" walkway around the pool.. the net fits really well. I would /will certainly buy this net again. Our expectations were, that after 3 years.. probably would have to buy a replacement.... Not true .. now going on our 3rd year... will re-use it again on 4th year (who knows maybe longer). When you consider the cost(s) of nets vs tarps... for us at least.. no brainer. Long story short: works as described and as desired... Will certainly buy again

Working well, strong for it's weight.
Size: 20-ft x 40-ft
I'm using this leaf net for a garden pond actually, not a pool. Although the netting material appears a little thin, it is actually stronger than expected. The hole size is fairly small which is good for keeping most all tiny leaves and such from getting through. I bought a size that was a good deal larger than I needed because I'm using large stones around the edges to keep it in place, just taking the excess over the stone and tucking it in under the backside. My biggest concern, aside from keeping leaves out of the pond, was my dogs. They use the pond for playing and drinking, general good times. The previous net I used was plastic mesh (this new one may be plastic ? but has more of a fabric feel) and very thin strands. By the end of fall, it had numerous rips in it from them stepping on it to get into the shallow water areas and play. The Dirt Defender, in my application, still sags into the water since I don't have any floats or framework across the pond to keep it up, but it's gotten no tears yet despite the same canine treatment. The leaves still get in the water but stay on top of the net where I use a long handled dip net to pull them out every couple days. The water gets discolored brown but the problem of rotting leaves accumulating on the bottom (and robbing oxygen from the fish) is greatly reduced. I'll remove it once most of the leaves are down, another 2-3 weeks, dry and store it until next year. Hopefully I'll get a few season's use out of it. The material along the edges of the leaf net, as another review noted, is the plastic rain tarp type of material. Pretty cheap crinkly stuff. The way I'm using it, it makes no difference though. This cheaper material is my reason for the 4 star vs 5 star rating.

A free form size would be nice but just be creativve
Size: 18-ft x 36-ft
Our freeform pool is barely 20 x 25 and the best option was the 18X36. The net is actually 22 x 40 and is huge so it took some creativity to give us deck space. Cutting is not an option as it would just cause problems so we rolled it as close to our shape and used tie wraps at regular intervals. It's not perfect but I was able to pull the cover off fairly easily to clean and add chemicals. It is sturdy enough yet very light to handle. It takes some adjusting to get all the sides settled, but they adjust nicely once the pump is off and the jets aren't directing it. There is a roll that runs under the waterfall and seems to work fine that way. We are divers and had a supply of soft scuba weights that worked perfectly without spending more on water tubes. They are like little bean bags but drain well and the 3 lb weights did the trick. We are in south Florida and only really need this in the early spring when the winds have been howling and leaves are falling faster than we can skim. However, you CAN easily user your pool net and skim gently across the mesh to clean most of the leaves off. Daytime pictures were hard to get a good angle but hopefully the evening picture gives an idea of how it settled in. So far it has worked well and the price couldn't be beat.

No metal grommets as pictured but it's ok for the price.
Size: 16-ft x 36-ft
Well, first of all, there are no metal grommets as pictured, but instead there are flexible plastic triangles with holes instead, for tying down. This seems to be just like the leaf net I bought about 3 years ago that is still holding up well, but is not large enough for a dome cover I'm about to construct over my pool. One thing about leaf nets is that once a pile of leaves pile up and touch the water, they will cause a big depression into which even more leaves will fall into and stay because they too get wet and heavy. Before long you accumulate a big soggy mess of leaves in one spot. So either you need some kind of support underneath to lift the net up, or remove the pile. I decided it's time to try to make a pvc dome and cover it with the leaf net. I found all the small parts online for about half the price of the big box stores, (plus a much better choice of parts). They are like 'tinker toys' for adults who like to build things. If it works out well enough I may just leave it up year round which may help keep the algae under control with the filtered light from the net when I double up with my older but smaller net. I'm too old to be working on a tan anyway. Should be the next best thing to having an indoor pool without the expense. I just need to make sure the net does not act like a sail and send my dome into the neighbor's yard. "Honey, there's what looks like a big black fishing net in our backyard."
