Description

I researched this vacuum heavily before purchasing it. I was drawn to it because I already have a bunch of Black & Decker batteries and my first cordless vacuum was useless because of the internal battery having a short life. I figured with this one having removable batteries I could vacuum until the cows came home if I so desired... and I was right. I'd also like to point out that if the battery dies completely you can just buy a new battery rather than a whole new vacuum. Because I am not fighting with a cord I vacuum every single day now. Maybe some of you do that anyway but I HATE fighting with the cord so before this vacuum I would be lucky to vacuum once a week and I have 4 furry friends so it wasn't a good situation. The pros: - The suction on carpet is amazing. As others have said it may be too strong so I don't use the highest setting with the floorhead attached. It is actually better than my corded big name brand vacuum. (And I do love that name brand vacuum I just hate its cord & price tag.) - I have a small house so I can do my whole house on one charge with the 2AH batter that is included. - It does stand on its own on a flat surface. It does feel more stable on carpet though. - You can charge it multiple ways. You can mount the charging base to the wall and put the vacuum on it, or just the battery. Additionally you can pull the charger out of the base (or if you have other B+D products you may have one out already) that you can use on the vacuum or pull the battery off and put it on the charger. - Because its cordless it so much easier to pull it out really quick to just do a small area or mess. - Some may see this as a con but I don't: it will not pick up large items on the floor like cheerios or marbles because the floorhead is so close to the floor. This works out better for me because I can just push the cat toys out of my way without sucking them up on accident. Cons: - I don't like the canister. It is easy enough to remove & replace but the design makes it difficult to empty the hair completely without sticking your hand up in it. Considering this is the pet model they should have taken that into consideration when designing it. - I am hoping this will get easier with age but the sections are difficult to remove. I remove the floor head but use the wand to get into corners but it doesn't want to come off easily. I have to set it down and use two hands to yank it off whereas with my old vacuum I could easily hold the top with one hand and use the other hand to pop off the floorhead while standing and go. - It doesn't like cat litter. It sticks to the bristles in the floorhead and then the moment the suction turns off it will drop back onto the floor. So I make it a habit to hold the floor head over the garbage before turning it off & shake it a little after. Seems to do the trick. Opinion based Cons: - The lights on the floorhead turn off if you turn off the floorhead. I only need the lights in areas that have hardwood so I really would prefer if they had separate on/off buttons. - There is no light for using attachments. Please Black+Decker, give us the option to buy a flashlight that will mount onto the attachment holder! - Did it really need to be purple, Black+Decker? Maybe it's just me but I would like my Black+Decker tools to be ... I don't know... black? It would be great if it matched my black & orange batteries. Again, I love this vacuum and I would highly recommend anyone buying it. ... show more

I spent a ton of time researching different cordless vacuums to find one that had everything I was looking for: - Something that wouldn't spit dust back out or blow the dust around it while you vacuum - A canister that opens/cleans easily, because I hate cleaning so I need it to be super convenient - A removable brush roller because I have a lot of hair and need to be able to easily get it out of the roller - Replaceable battery since basically every cordless vacuum review complains about the battery life getting worse over time - Of course decent suction - Less than $200 This vacuum seemed to tick all the boxes and so far, it has. We've been using it now for over a year and it's still going strong, though we don't use it every day, probably a couple times a week. I think the suction is great- it has 3 power levels and I primarily just use the lowest level. The battery life is imo comparable to other cordless vacuums (it seems like generally cordless vacuums aren't known for having long bettery life)- I can vacuum my entire 2400 sqft house in one full charge using the lowest power setting and changing it to medium or high power only when needed. The only time it's ever died mid-vacuum is if I forgot to charge it after the last time I used it. The like that the canister opens on the bottom, so all you have to do is hold it over the trash and press the button to release the lid. The canister and filter are also easy to take apart and clean. Note: The first time I took the inner filter thing out, it was pretty stuck in there. I had to use a bit of force and I wasn't sure if I was doing it right. Once you take it out the first time, it's very easy to pop out. The top filter also pops out easily. You're also able to twist the top to knock off some dust- this doesn't seem to do too much for me but that's ok, I just pop it out and knock it over the trash if needed in between actually flushing it with water. All the pieces are easy to rinse/wash. Some of the "nice to haves" that I could have lived without but really appreciate are the extra brush attachments, that it's freestanding, that you can either take the battery out to charge or attach the charger to the battery while it's on the vacuum, that you can install the charger on the wall to charge/hold the vacuum, and that you can easily detach the vacuum and use it in handheld mode. Plus, in handheld mode, you can detach it close to the handle for a classic handheld size or you can detach it at the bottom of the handle for an extended handheld size (see pictures). If you own other Black + Decker products, the battery is also interchangeable. Our other power tools are Ryobi, but I still liked that this has the interchangeable batteries because that means it will likely be super easy/affordable to replace the battery or buy extras if needed. I didn't want a vacuum where the battery was replaceable but hard to find or just as expensive as the vacuum itself. If you do use other B+D products, that'd probably be even better. I do have pets but I didn't really buy this because it's advertised as a "pet" vacuum. Honestly, it just had all the features I wanted and if it happens to work better for pets, then that's an added bonus! ... show more

This vacuum cleaner has good power with different power modes. The first is not so impressive but the other power modes are good. I bought this because I had Black and Decker power tools already with extra batteries. Thankfully I did have extra batteries and chargers because to be honest this cordless vacuum is tough on batteries. On lowest level you could probably get 15 min out of it. But on few mins on max. So I just switch out battery as I clean . I don’t know how this compares to other cordless vacuums in terms of battery life but just expect short clean times. Aside from short battery time what you do get is something that will suck up stuff on carpet and hardwood. I also like the light on the front. The cleaner can get under tables and chairs and sofas with ease . My one wish it had multiple height settings. It also was nice it comes with wall mount with charger so you can put it up when done and charge at same time. I feel I made a good buy and I know the batteries I have work and will last on the long term. I was afraid to buy rebrand or something else if all I had was one battery. I bought a $200 cordless Hoover vac and the battery died after 3 months. Then I bought replacement and same thing . ... show more
