  • Very happy with this tankless hot water heater.
I called tech support in my original research to find the unit that best suited my needs—a booster for the kitchen sink hot water. At first I called Atmor’s toll free number and found out their unit was not appropriate. Then I called the (different) Black and Decker 800 number and ended up talking with the same exact (as Atmor) tech support lady. She said Atmor was owned by B & D and apologized for not suggesting this B/D unit the first time I talked with her when she told me the particular Atmor unit I was considering could not be used as a booster. I did the installation myself and I’m not a plumber or electrician by trade but I am a mechanic with lots of home remodel experience. The toughest part was routing the #10 gauge Romex solid wire power cable. I’m glad it wasn’t the heavier 8 gauge wire that some units require. That would be really hard to manipulate in tight places like under a sink. As you can see from the picture, I had to temporarily remove the disposal for ease of access to install the heater under the sink. This BD model is larger than some and I was unable to give it all the recommended side clearance (6”) and bottom clearance (12”) the manual suggested. It was difficult getting the power cable through the back of the heater case, connected to the power block inside and under the strain relief clamp. Took me probably half an hour just to get that right. Plumbing was quick and easy with 1/2” braided SS faucet hoses. Instructions were clear and adequately detailed for someone who has a bit of experience with home electric work. Plumbing is just a matter of getting the correct length hoses (I needed only one hose since the original hot water hose was perfect length) and being careful not to overtighten. The rubber washers on the hoses don’t need much torque for a waterproof seal. The unit operates as advertised and my wife is thrilled to have instant hot water at the sink now. So if it still works 10 yrs. from now, I will be a huge fan of this unit. Time will tell. ... show more

  • I wish I hadn't
Style: 24 kW
Not gonna go too long on this because I'm exhausted, annoyed, and disappointed... Hired an electrician and plumber to install... Had them both do the homework both for my needs, and my current power situation (how much my house has available) before purchasing (after both agreed it would be ok) The long story short is everyone involved agrees that I have more than enough for what I need, but no matter what we do the lights flicker every time someone turns on the hot water... Electrician has 40yrs experience and can't explain it, says my house at MAX (we turned every major appliance on to test... stove, microwave, a/c, a ton of lights, and ran hot water in 3 different rooms) and I was pulling 1/4th of what my house has available... however regardless of the fact my house still has 75% of it's power supply available because of HOW tankless hot water heaters work (turn off and on rapidly) it still causes my lights to flicker (not dim) CONSTANTLY throughout (it does not stop until the unit turns off AKA people turn the hot water off) Now here I sit over a grand in the hole, with GREAT hot water, but my lights look like a disco every time someone turns on hot water (and i say again... at absolute max capacity im pulling ONE FOURTH what my available power is capable of)... its the on off on off that never stops that is the issue.... imagine if your air conditioner started and stopped every 2 seconds.... you know that light flicker you get ONCE? like that.... every 2 seconds.... the entire time hot water is running.... I'm devastated thousand bucks and now dunno what to do.... HIGHLY advise you stay away ... show more

  • Great water heater
This heater was easy to install. The hardest part was running the new wiring or power the unit. It states 1/2” outlets so make sure that you have the correct reducer as most hot water heater lines are 3/4”. I had those and also added in valves for both hot and colder water to easily flush out the system. The size unit I got is fine for my master bath, kitchen water needs and washing machine. We recently had teens and low 20’s in Texas and the water heater was able to still perform at those temps which was a good test due to how much it can raise the water temperature up when it’s that cold. Make sure to know that this isn’t an instant hot water heater as some people think but will heat the water on demand. I don’t have a problem taking a shower after my wife and worrying if I will run out of hot water as it will continue to make it as long as the hot water is flowing! ... show more

  • Works well, insulation could be better.
Heater works well however it sometimes overshoots by 10 degrees or more when a faucet is turned on and has constant flow. It evens out eventually. The previous unit that I had installed was a side/rear wire and this one seems to be a NM-B 10awg rear wire preferred. I had to cut a opening and install my own cable gromet for my 10awg SO cable. Overall it seems to be well designed and should last for a while. Flow meter can be replaced without too much hassle and it seems to use solid state relays that are heatsynced to the cold inlet. ... show more

  • Works Great! Had this for almost a year. Working terrific. Hot water Very quick!
Style: 7 KW
I installed this heater in one of our bathrooms that had been added when the previous owners had put on an addition to the existing house. It did not have access to the main house's water heater. I had previously installed and tried another brand bought off the Amazon website that absolutely DID NOT WORK. After returning it, I then ordered this one. The installation instructions are clear and a GOOD handy man can handle the installation. However I do recommend that you use an electrician to install the necessary 30 amp double breaker and 240V wiring and you might want to hire a plumber if you are not able to do some simple plumbing connections and/or are unfamiliar with 240V wiring. Overall, my wife and I are very pleased with the ease of installation and how well it works. Great answer to the problem we had of having no hot water. ... show more
