I'M NOT KIDDING. So I invested a considerable amount of money in a Quantum water-based vacuum only to have parts break consistently so it sits in a corner in the furnace room. Two years ago, I purchased this item (but without the pet hose), and immediately fell in love with how it helped improve my life. I was not vigilant in emptying the debris container or cleaning the filter so two years later, it gave up. I used it EVERY DAY. I have two dogs. I live in a large, two-story building. Who would believe that that this little, hand-held gadget could whisk away everything in seconds, charge fast, hold the charge and put a smile on my face every day. I just bought this again (now with the pet hose) and I know how this sounds but I'm telling you. Get one for you and give as gifts. I do not know if women engineers (not knocking male engineers but often they do not use the product they are actually designing!) were involved in the development of this product but someone understood the necessity of having a time-saving, effective product that performs every single time. Bottom line: • This is NOT a home vacuum and is not powerful enough to replace those Hoovers or Dysons or Whatevers that are very very strong and have gadgets and many power nozzles etc. This is not that type of vacuum. • It is a light duty vacuum to clean areas that you don’t want to drag your “real” vacuum to clean. • I clean up dog hair, sand, lint dust, dirt and even small leaves from my car, dust and cobwebs from the house. It works fine for all that. Comments: (1 ) Car use: I use it to vacuum my car and it picks up all the dust, dog-hair and lasts long enough to slowly vacuum the entire car –and then some. (2) Home use: In the house I use it on several throw-rugs that are not the highest quality and that would be torn up if I used our “real” vacuum on them. Also use it to vacuum the tops of china closets and ceiling corners of closets. For the floor, even with the floor attachment pipe I get enough suction to do a good job on those areas. (3) Battery: I am getting about 20 minutes or so –I have not really checked, but only once did it die on me –when I had not charged it after doing the car and then did my den and then started on the throw rugs in the foyer. . . (4) Attachments: there are several attachments and they all work well. The dog hair attachment actually does seem to get more of the dog hair than the regular attachment! (5) Cleaning: So far very easy to clean. Open the side compartment and dump. No normally-replaceable filters. (Maybe I have one to wash –probably need to check that ;-) (6) Charging: It has a charging base and a light to show that it is charging. I did not track the time but seemed to be charged in an hour or so, perhaps more, but that’s my impression without closely timing it. Overall: It has the suction to clean well, the battery life to get through any one job completely (and a bit more), and has a suitable set of attachments to make the job easier. No bags means less hassle –and the dust compartment is easy to empty and big enough for anyone who does not live in a really messy place!     • Convenient. Compact. Adequate Suction. Save over Pricey Alternatives. Clean Up (in more ways than one)

I primarily use this as a cordless hand vac with the 2-in-1 nozzle/brush tool attached to the hose. I do not use the stick vac accessory, so I won’t comment on that. In any case, I originally purchased a BLACK+DECKER Pivot Vac 18V Cordless Pivoting Hand Vac, PHV1810 back in 2012. This vacuum lasted 5 years until it got to the point where the (non-lithium) battery would not hold charge. I paid $50 and got 5 years. I got my money’s worth. I decided to look for a modern cordless vac with a lithium battery, which does not suffer from the issues of batteries of old. First, I decided to splurge on a Dyson V6 Car + Boat Handheld Vacuum - Cordless which cost roughly three times as much as this Black+Decker. I thought, “You get what you pay for. This expensive Dyson one will be a beast, right?” Ultimately, I was dissatisfied with the Dyson because it just didn’t have the suction power for the price (and the “boost” mode would just drain the battery faster—and it was shaped weird). This Black+Decker is a fraction of the cost and comparatively has more suction and lasts longer. I work with Photoshop and other design apps for a living and my computer case needs to be taken care of often. I use this Black+Decker to clean out my PC case and I can easily get to dust in hard to reach places and the suction is there when I need it. I additionally use it to vacuum out my car and do light cleaning on shelves and stuff around the house. The 2-in-1 nozzle/brush attachment is a must for dust and cleaning car seats. It can flip back into nozzle mode at times while brushing (front-to-back brushing only, not side-to-side). The previous Black+Decker vac I owned had a brush that was very rigid and a pain to flip out (it was almost a two-hand job) but it wouldn't budge afterward. It's a bit of a trade off. Flipping the brush is easy on this one, but you can get unintentional flips while using. I just use a side-to-side motion and no issues. The charging base is a bit thin and it can be tricky to get the unit on the charger. It doesn’t exactly “lock” into place and can easily slide off. Otherwise it works fine. For cleaning, just open the door and dump the dirt. I haven’t needed to wash the filter as of yet. For the power and convenience, this is a great buy—and, after switching vacuums, I have a spare $150 to spend on something else. ... show more

    • 6 Year Old Flex Finally in Need of Replacement

I purchased this item in March of 2018 and it is finally on it's last leg. lol - actually, it still works great, except the battery does not hold a charge - after 6 years, I'm not complaining. I highly recommend this product. It lasts, works well, is easy to clean, and takes up minimal space.
