This is a great beginner set for lifting. The weights are versatile and easy to handle. I received a set that had extra weights for certain sizes and missing other sizes. Without the correct sizes, I couldn’t use the weights correctly without having uneven amounts on the two sides. I contacted the customer service and they sent me the missing weights super quickly.     • Good set of home-use weights and bar for endurance workouts
Style Name: Barbell Set - 60 pounds
First, a note: This bar (rated for a max of 100 pounds) and weight set is best suited for fitness routines which focus on endurance like Group Power or Body Pump – multiple reps of different exercises for 4-5 minutes straight over the course of 30 minutes to a full hour. If your preference is to lift seriously heavier weights with fewer reps, this is not the set for you. Now for my review. After participating in group fitness classes for a few years, I decided to get certified to teach a power class using the bar with adjustable weights. In order to consistently train and learn releases without having to go to the gym, I wanted a set of weights I could use at home. I chose this set because it closely matched what our gym has for group fitness classes – from the variety of weights to the weight of the bar itself (Olympic bars are heavier). This set is near-perfect for what I wanted! The coated finish on the bar makes for a better grip when your hands are sweaty. So far, no flaking of the coating like I see with metallic finish bars, and I think this bar is easier on my hands than the smooth metallic bars. I was initially a bit skeptical of only having one set of large (11kg) plates, but the addition of the medium (8.25kg) plates allows for additional pair-ups which you don’t get with a set of 10, 5 and 2.5 pound weights. I can usually figure out a combo which allows for a heavier bar while freeing up a smaller set of weights for plate work. Aficionados always have the option of getting more weights – I managed to obtain a set of alternate group fitness weights from my gym when they upgraded their equipment, and they are compatible. The only minor negative I have is that with the bar coming in 3 pieces, there is a tendency for it to come unscrewed. The threads are deep enough to where it won’t come apart in the middle of a workout, so it’s not a concern nor a danger if you retighten. It’s just an annoyance to feel the bar loose for anyone with a touch of OCD like me. A bit of Threadlock applied every so often takes care of the issue. I’d only drop my rating by a half-star for this annoyance if we could rate with half-stars. The final thing to keep in mind that this bar has a smaller diameter than the center holes in Olympic style weight plates. Finding spare Olympic plates at yard sales or second hand stores will give you extra plates for free-hand work, but they won’t be compatible with the bar. ... show more

The product itself appears to be very good. I bought it for BodyPump and the value was great. Even having to screw the bar together it attaches very firmly. The weights do not spin that I have noticed yet. I do clamp them nice and snug. The reason I gave it a 4 star is because my package arrived without 1 of the 11 pound weights and 1 of the 2.75 pound weights. The box looked pretty beat up with tape all over it. I was looking for a set that allowed me to do "Body Pump" style workouts at home (for myself and my teen daughter) and this set is VERY similar to the sets I used at my gym. The lightweight bar comes in 3 parts (for easier storage/shipping) that screw together with 2 clips to secure plates on each end. This set comes with a total of 4 pairs (8 total) of sand filled plates, with each pair a different weight (2.75lb, 5.5lb, 8.25lb & 11lb) for a total of 55lb. I have been using this set for about a month a it meets my needs perfectly. Of note is when the set arrived, one of the plates was missing. The package came with a number to call if something was missing or broken (rather than return to Amazon). Due to COVID, there was a slight delay in obtaining the missing plate, but after following up with the company, the missing plate arrived and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I do own Olympic weights (the metal ones) and purchased this because they are quieter when I lift while my children are sleeping. I did read some reviews that worried that the plates are sand-filled, but the plastic appears sturdy enough that the set will last for many years of regular/daily use. If you are looking for a weight set and don't lift more than 55lb, this set is for you. Again, this is the perfect "Body-Pump" set for home. ... show more

Love this set for Bodypump classes. I used to do Bodypump with hand weights then went looking for a bar but didn’t want to spend the $$$$ for the Les Mills version. This Step version seemed like a great alternative and it really is! Now that I have this, I much prefer the bar vs the hand weights for most exercises. The steering wheel design of the weights makes them easy to grip for “plate” exercises, even for small hands. Have been using the set intermittently for 8 months and am nowhere near maxxing out the 60 lbs, so it seems like the total weight included is more than adequate. We live along the Gulf Coast and I keep this set stored in my garage - the plastic encased weights are great because they don’t rust in the high humidity. I know some buyers were concerned about the screw together bar, but it works fine for me. ... show more
