  • Fur, Hair, Dirt, Grime, you gave met your match!
Style: Canister Vacuum
Let me just say…I love this vacuum! I searched for months regarding hard floor cleaners and steamers, and what worked best vs. what looked best, and what was most handy. I finally purchased this vacuum based on another review and the fact that the woman said she had a bad back and this vacuum was light weight and the best vacuum she had ever bought. Well, I agree with her. The light weight aspect of this allows me to carry it up my steps, roll it around my home, and take care of business efficiently. The vacuum comes with the extra tools and they are easy to clip on and use. I will say I had my doubts when I received it and I was able lift it with my foot, but I can honestly say all my doubts have been put to rest! No one loves everything about anything, so let me list the cons I have found. They have not stopped my love for this vacuum, but they do exist. Cons- The cord is extremely short, however, I bought a 25 ft. extension cord and the problem is solved. The canister is small, but I personally like this because I have a husband that tends to forget to empty canisters, and the smallness of this ensures he does it more often. The color….LOL. I hate this burnt orange. But who buys a vacuum for the color? I can honestly say that after months of research, I wouldn’t change my purchase for anything else. I have friends and family who have bought the wall hanging ones, have the steamer ones, and have the rechargeable, I can say that no one has ever really loved any of them and that 3 of the people I know have now bought this one and absolutely change it. It does not clean the floors, that is what a mop and bucket are for, but it picks up cat fur, dog fur, sand, powder, and all the small stuff that get tracked in on the daily! ... show more

  • For the bare floor niche, this vacuum wins hands down!
Style: Canister Vacuum
7 year 8 month update: Still works but has lost some of the power that made it special...it is time to shop for a new vacuum. Will be hard to find a more long lasting device with today's manufacturing standards in the toilet. :-/ Four Year Update: This vacuum is still going strong. Still happy with it... GREAT DESIGN with the user in mind! Our home has 95% tile floors and this Bissell 'hard floor expert' is aptly named. With excellent suction, it picks up pieces left by our other vacuums, and does it the first time over the debris. Debris is easy to discard because the cannister design is simple, fast and easy to operate. Light enough to carry in one hand and vacuum with the other, it is easy to use. I prefer this vacuum to our Dyson and Oreck that stay in the closet now that this Bissell is here! Keep in mind that while it cleans our carpeted areas well, we chose this vacuum primarily for tile floors, so, your results may vary. Easy to use, efficient vacuum for our purpose, we recommend it without reservation. ... show more

  • Please Read, ONE YEAR use review!
Style: Canister Vacuum
After a year of use the filter is going strong, but the suction is horrible. If you have ANY rugs or carpeting with kids or pets get a different vacuum. The hose has holes in it at the handle base and it doesn't suck anything up off rugs besides large crumbs. It collects the dog hair in the brushes and has to be flipped over and cleaned constantly. I have a 1500 sq ft house and I flip it over to clean at least 5x in a vacuum session. Honestly if you have a small apartment with all hardwoods and no kids/shedding dogs this vacuum is great. Otherwise DONT BUY IT. Original: So I've had this vacuum for 4 months now and feel I can give a pretty accurate review. Just so you understand our household we have two kids under the age of 5 and a medium sized dog that sheds a lot. I run the vacuum at least two to three times a week from heavy fur shedding and heavy crumbs and dirt being tracked in. Our home is a single floor, and it's all hardwoods and tile except for two bedrooms. I was happy to receive this vacuum, the suction power is great, maneuverability is great and the body section follows you easily. It's not too heavy to drag along and overall is not too annoying. The plug retractor is AMAZING, no more cord winding. I also like the buttons that you can press with your foot. Let me break it down to the different heads that it comes with. The hard floor specific head has good suction and picks up the dog fur and small crumbs but if you have kids that like to throw Cheerios and all sorts of large crumbs on the floor this head just pushes those around. I actually have to lift it and set it down right on the large crumb for it to suck them up, that gets labor intensive. General use is okay, but not super happy that it doesn't suck up the larger crumbs better. I actually have found the other head to be more useful. That one will split between hard floor and carpeting. We have relatively low-pile carpet in only two bedrooms and I have about 4 rugs varying in size. This one does really good on the hardwoods especially picking up the fur since the brushes come out on the hardwood setting. The larger crumbs get picked up pretty well, not 100% of the time, but good enough for me. I can actually vacuum all the rugs, and carpeting in the two bedrooms well! I don't notice a whole lot of dog fur or tracked in dirt or crumbs after a once over. The reusable filter is nice I've already rinsed it out once because I had to pick up a good amount of dirt and it got caught up in the filter. Seems like it's a hard-working filter and I'm happy about that. My complaints are the collars that are around the tubing. They are this cheap crappy plastic that has broken off into multiple pieces and are now just gone. That cheap aspect worries me about the rest of the plastic parts because let's be honest when you vacuum you bump into things pretty often. Even if your a slow careful vacuuming person you still bump into stuff. I'm not sure how long the heads will last or the handle. Overall my four star review is because I'm not sure this will last as many years as our last vacuum did, or last over a year. The usability is great but I would also like to have longevity. ... show more
