I should’ve bought this sooner. I had been using my inkjet for pretty much nothing but shipping labels. In between uses the ink would dry up. I’d end up investing in an expensive new ink cartridge to print some labels. Also I hated lining up the labels in the printer. I had to remember which way was up and feed direction. I was wasting so many labels trying to line things up. This is amazing! I set it up in a few minutes and was ready to test it. The loading was super simple. Less complicated than the inkjet for sure. Then I added it to my computer and gave it a test run. So fast! So easy. And much more efficient. Now I get the hype. And here’s the added bonus. It’s thermal. So even if I don’t use it for weeks, the ink isn’t going to dry up because there isn’t any. No more changing cartridges and a staining my hands. I never had a chance to test the speed until I did labels for holiday cards. Wow. It was so incredibly fast. I had to put a box on the floor to collect them because they were flowing out like tap water！！！

First, the instructions tell me to download an app, but when I try that I get all kinds of warnings from the Apple store that the app is not signed properly. Second, there is no way to make a simple label with just some text. The app only offers to scan or use a PDF. If I design the PDF from my MacBook (using e.g. Google docs), I need to fiddle with the margins etc. When I finally I have a few labels ready, I cannot print wirelessly. Instead, I have to: 1. save the PDF from Google docs. 2. email it to myself. 3. On the iPhone, receive the email, save to files. 4. On the app, load the file. 5. Select just the "pages" (labels) I want to print. 6. Readjust the ratio to "custom" (otherwise the label is not properly centered) 7. Go the the 'advanced' print menu, and change the paper width and height to 76mm, 25mm resp. (3x1 labels). 8. Finally, print in the printer icon. That's pretty ridiculous. The printer then prints all the labels very quickly, but the procedure above takes me five minutes just to print a few labels. It would be so simple to have a super-basic text editor and print directly from the phone. Note: yes, I could use Google docs directly from the phone, but setting up pages to be 3x1 inches and then have text centered on each page is tricky enough on a desktop...

I'm going to start with the 2 things I didn't like first. 1. QR code for the app takes you to a home security app, had a hard time finding the right one. 2. The app doesn't help you such as avery.com in designing and making sure it's centered. You have to have some other app that does it for you, which has been a bit of a hassle if you only have a phone like I do. Now for the good 1. Easy set up. Plug in, turn on your Bluetooth after installing the app and print immediately 2. Comes with a trey for your labels that even has a bar if you do a roll of stickers. Super simple use 3. Instructions are clear and I was ready to go in minutes after finding the app.
