This is going to be a pretty lengthy and thorough review. As the title states, it served its purpose. I bought this pillow because I'm recovering from a double lung transplant and I need to lay at an incline to make it easier to get in and out of bed. The 12 inch hight is perfect for that, as I needed it as high as possible. After unboxing it, and removing it from the sealed bag, it expanded almost immidietly. It took about 45 minutes for it to expand to its full size. I didn't notice any chemical smell to it and didn't have to "air it out" before using it, so that was a good thing. 5 stars for shipping, packaging, and odor control. I sleep in a full size bed with my boyfriend, and the pillow took up exactly half the bed space. It's no biggie because it isn't anymore space that a regular pillow would use. In terms of firmness, it wasn't what I expected. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the least and 10 being the most, I would put it at a 7.5. It didn't have that cushy cloud feeling I would expect from memory foam, it's more dense than I would like and when I was laying on it, I didn't sink into it. On one hand, that's a good thing because due to the transplant, I don't have the strength to pull myself out of a sinkhole formed in a pillow. However, once I am healed, I don't see myself continuing on using it because it isn't the most comfortable thing. When the wedge is placed vertically against the wall and used as a back support while being seated, it feel like I'm leaning directly against the wall with a blanket against it. So it's a soft feeling, but again too firm to sink into it. 3 stars comfort level: No cloud-like cushy feeling for me. In terms of pain relief, it was intended to relieve some post transplant pain in my chest area, and it did. But because it's so dense and didn't adjust to my body I wake up with neck and shoulder pain, as if I've been sleeping on the ground. I had to knock 2 stars off for that. 3 stars for pain relief: It relieved my surgery pain but it replaced it with neck and shoulder pain. For reference, I'm a very small person, (5' 100lbs.) so it may just be that my upper body is too light to sink into this pillow and maybe to someone heavier it would be perfect fit. Both of my parents tried it out and they both said it felt like the pillow molded to them. For reference, my mom is 4'11 and 120 lbs. and my dad is 5'7 165. My dad fell in love with it, so I will end up giving it to him once I'm fully healed, as I suspect that it could help with his sleep apnea. For the price, will likely buy again. I a big guy, 6’2” over 350lb. This supports me no problem. I had hard time falling asleep and would wake up after hour. This product helped me fall asleep faster. I’m don’t want to make any medical claim but I feel like I breath better using this pillow. I love it

I have used this pillow for more than 2 months now after a sudden flareup of acid reflux caused by a stomach virus and have edited this review a couple of times as I gained more experience with sleeping on a wedge. At first, using this wedge pillow was a necessity but I didn't really like it. However, being a side sleeper, I have always had a problem with laying on my sore shoulders and this wedge has helped to remedy that situation. What I do is stack several regular pillows up against my headboard and then slide the wedge up in front of them, leaving a narrow "trench" to put my arm in. I sleep high up on the wedge, on my side, with my shoulder up over the top corner of the wedge and my arm in the trench between the pillows and wedge---and this gives me the support I need for no more shoulder pain. Sleeping like this took some getting used to but I find it very comfortable now and I will continue using this wedge even though my bout with acid reflux appears to be over. An additional benefit is that I don't wake up in the middle of the night with a stuffed-up nose as lying on the incline prevents that. It is amazing how many problems sleeping on this wedge has remedied for me including acid reflux, sore shoulders, and sinus problems. Honestly, I don't see myself ever going back to sleeping flat on the mattress again as there are too many benefits from sleeping on this wedge. ... show more

I was hesitant about this product at first but I'm now convinced it's worth the purchase price. I've always used a stack of pillows to prop up in bed for reading. They like to slide around and get unstacked & require rearranging a lot. This wedge pillow provides sturdy, firm, reliable support without the need to keep fighting all those pillows. Sturdy but comfortable, not too hard. It came air compressed and it was awesome watching it inflate. Took just a few seconds to achieve full size. It did have a strong smell but that faded rapidly. It comes with a washable removable cover that luckily was already in place. The fabric is soft to the touch with a zipper that's not too big & is concealed & out of the way. The only drawback is that it's so big and there's no way to fold it up and put it away when not in use unlike that stack of pillows which you just separate. I've yet to figure out a place to store it when it's not on my bed that isn't totally in the way. Haha but it's a small drawback. Completely worth the hassle. ... show more

This pillow is awesome! My husband and I watch TV in bed every night and as such I've been developing back pain. I bought this pillow thinking that it would provide support while we relax and holy cow it does! It's so firm yet comfortable andi would but it again a hundred times over.

Pretty disappointed. Other reviews said their pillow “inflated” or assumed full form with in seconds if not minutes after removing from the box. Not the case with mine. It has been unpacked for 3 days now and it still has not taken form at the top of the pillow which renders it useless. Don’t waste your money ... show more

Arrive 30 with black smudges on it. Very uncomfortable inconvenience to try to figure out how to return this huge item which was delivered in a small box because it was vacuum sealed and much smaller upon arrival. Amazon wants me to return this item and it is gigantic and there is no way I can do that. Very let down ... show more
