  • Great for adjustable bed
Perfect rail to help get in or out of bed or roll over in bed. Easy to assemble and install. I have an adjustable bed so I placed the base between the mattress and bed frame - works great. The added pouch can be accessed from either side depending on how you position the top rail part. I ordered one to try it, now I am going to order a second one for the other side. Good price and good value. ... show more

  • Good product - Not Legal in a Minnesota assisted living or health care facility
Bought this for my mom going back to her assisted living apartment from a transitional care unit, after surgery for a broken leg. Assembled it by myself in about 20 minutes - not all of the legs slipped on easily because the rubber collars impeded inserting the legs - had to shave a bit off two of the collars to get the legs to slip on. Sturdy when you attach the strap to the bedframe on the other side of the bed. Struggled for a few minutes to lift the boxspring so I could slip the strap under the bedframe. As other reviewers said, the quilt/bedspread will not look great when you make the bed, and the bedskirt on the other side of the bed is folded up with the strap coming over it, but for the sake of convenience and a nice handhold, it is worth it. The 5 height adjustments are great - I put it on the lowest height because my mom is 4'10" and she has a smaller height mattress. Unfortunately, after I had it assembled and moved my mom back in, the nursing supervisor told me it did not comply with MN Department of Health Assisted Living and Healthcare Licensure, because of the possibility of entrapment. If it is set up with the strap, the hand rail is not moving!! Another case of legislating to prevent accidents because people take shortcuts. The only really difficult part was fitting the pieces back in the box after disassembling it. FYI - the only approved handrail in MN is the Halo at $300 for 1 side or $520 for both sides of the bed. Amazon ratings and reviews are not great, and their website also says that entrapment is still a possibility! This Bed Assist Handle from Medical King is a good product if you can legally use it. ... show more

  • My mom loves it
I purchased It a used one and it was missing the clips for the piece of the tubing that connects together so I drilled small holes and used rivets to hold it together. I also mounted the storage basket on the other side by drilling out mounting clip rivets and re riveting it the opposite side . Its just more convenient to use it if you are laying in bed. Otherwise very good and sturdy. Fits perfect between box sping and top mattress. Didn't use the strap it stayed in place without it. ... show more

  • Great price, quality and easy install
This rail looks bigger in the picture but actually it’s about 20” wide. Even though it’s small it withstands up to 300 lbs! It also is a terrific price as it’s way way less than the other overpriced rails. It installs simply, assembles easily and works wonderfully! Good solid steel tubing slides way under the mattress and it’s width, though 20” stops a full grown adult from moving it, bending it or shoving it out of the way! The strap? If you’re a namby pamby baby and can’t figure out a simple strap just go to YouTube and there’s plenty of videos to watch and hold your hand to attach it. However, you won’t need the strap once you shove the long bottom tubing under the mattress. The strap is overkill and included to satisfy people who need assurances. Buy this, I did and it was delivered to my door 4 hours later! We love it and my wife didn’t fall out of bed last nite! Lol! Sorry honey; I had to slip that in. Steven, Denver, CO ... show more

  • Silly hex screws used for the vertical connections, can't adjust the height w/out an allen wrench
I'm giving this a middle of the road 3 stars, not so much because it's bad, but just because it is not great. We already have a several bed rails similar to this one that are made by Essential Medical Supplies. They're installed in my parents home, and in our second home as well. Those are great, super easy to assemble, very strong and I was all set to order another one just like it for me. It is no longer available. I specifically wanted a rail that was basic and that did not have legs. I came across this one. Similarities: - no legs. It slides under the mattress and the weight of the mattress is what keeps it in place. - chrome with padded grab area Differences: - the Essential Medical rail assembles without tools. There are push buttons that click into place on both the vertical and horizontal connection sites. If you want to adjust the height of the rail, it's easily done by just pressing in on the buttons and pulling up or pushing down on the rail. This one has push buttons on the horizontal connection points (the part that slides under the mattress), but there are screws that you tighten using an allen wrench on the vertical connection points. To me, this is stupid, because if you want to adjust the height of the rail, you need to fish out that allen wrench to do so. - the Essential Medical rail allows for a higher set rail (about 5 inches higher) than this one. We have a thick mattress so this rail only sits about 6 inches above the top of our bed. That's sufficient for me since all I'm going to be using it for is to assist me post hip replacement surgery. If it was meant for use as a guard rail to prevent a person from rolling off, I'd say that the height is not sufficient. - the Essential Medical rail feels and looks sturdy. This one just feels and looks flimsier. It will do what I want it to do, and I don't intend for it to be used on a permanent basis. Summary - - it does what I want it to do, so it serves its' purpose. p.s. there are stickers everywhere and they do not come off easily. I hate stickers and struggled to remove them all, but I cussed at it the entire time. ... show more
