  • Great price, quality and easy install
This rail looks bigger in the picture but actually it’s about 20” wide. Even though it’s small it withstands up to 300 lbs! It also is a terrific price as it’s way way less than the other overpriced rails. It installs simply, assembles easily and works wonderfully! Good solid steel tubing slides way under the mattress and it’s width, though 20” stops a full grown adult from moving it, bending it or shoving it out of the way! The strap? If you’re a namby pamby baby and can’t figure out a simple strap just go to YouTube and there’s plenty of videos to watch and hold your hand to attach it. However, you won’t need the strap once you shove the long bottom tubing under the mattress. The strap is overkill and included to satisfy people who need assurances. Buy this, I did and it was delivered to my door 4 hours later! We love it and my wife didn’t fall out of bed last nite! Lol! Sorry honey; I had to slip that in. Steven, Denver, CO ... show more

  • Great idea
Bought this for my handicapped nephew. Prior to this, he had nothing to grab hold of to assist getting in and out of bed. This also gave him something to hold on to when standing and trying to pull his pants up or down. It looked very smart and modern. By utilizing the accompanying strap, it makes for a very sturdy bar to hold. The strap attaches to the bar under the mattress and then attaches to the bed rail on the opposite side of the bed. This is great for permanent installation. This bar would also be nice to use for kids when traveling to provide a bit more security from falling off the bed at Grandma's. ... show more

  • Easy to set up
New update since original purchase: Does the job perfect keeping me on my bed. Since the first night I’ve come to many times I could’ve fell out of bed. Weird now using this bar most days I wake up right on the edge of the mattress. It helps to pull myself up with the bar too. Bonus is the little pouch on the bar for storing my things. I’m constantly dropping my phone now I’ll just put it in the storage part. Great idea for adding to the bar. ... show more

  • Good product - Not Legal in a Minnesota assisted living or health care facility
Bought this for my mom going back to her assisted living apartment from a transitional care unit, after surgery for a broken leg. Assembled it by myself in about 20 minutes - not all of the legs slipped on easily because the rubber collars impeded inserting the legs - had to shave a bit off two of the collars to get the legs to slip on. Sturdy when you attach the strap to the bedframe on the other side of the bed. Struggled for a few minutes to lift the boxspring so I could slip the strap under the bedframe. As other reviewers said, the quilt/bedspread will not look great when you make the bed, and the bedskirt on the other side of the bed is folded up with the strap coming over it, but for the sake of convenience and a nice handhold, it is worth it. The 5 height adjustments are great - I put it on the lowest height because my mom is 4'10" and she has a smaller height mattress. Unfortunately, after I had it assembled and moved my mom back in, the nursing supervisor told me it did not comply with MN Department of Health Assisted Living and Healthcare Licensure, because of the possibility of entrapment. If it is set up with the strap, the hand rail is not moving!! Another case of legislating to prevent accidents because people take shortcuts. The only really difficult part was fitting the pieces back in the box after disassembling it. FYI - the only approved handrail in MN is the Halo at $300 for 1 side or $520 for both sides of the bed. Amazon ratings and reviews are not great, and their website also says that entrapment is still a possibility! This Bed Assist Handle from Medical King is a good product if you can legally use it. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble & use
Sturdy, well made product. Instructions are minimal (pictures only) for assembly but NO instructions (or pictures) on what to do with the long strap, leaving one to assume it goes around and under the mattress to hold the bar in place. Since it fits well under the mattress, I didn’t find the need to use it. The bar works well for helping to get into and out of bed. ... show more

  • Great help
Bought this for my double bed after breaking my hip. It's great!! The pocket that comes with it holds all medical records needed to be kept on hand, and the pocket caddy we added on the inside that faces me holds everything else. It's easy to assemble and attach to your bed and can easily be moved to a different location if needed. It's also very sturdy, and has been of substantial help with my mobility. ... show more

  • Works for our adjustable hospital bed
I was having a hard time finding a rail that would work for an adjustable hospital bed. This one is working for us. I have to put the bed totally flat first and then insert the rail evenly on either side of where the bed bends by the knees. Once it's inserted in, it stays in well. It is functioning to help keep my dad safe from falling out the bed. Must return the bed to flat position to remove it. There is a little effort involved in inserting and removing the device. An elderly or weak person might struggle with this. Super pleased with this purchase. Would recommend. Another tool to help keep my Dad safe and I'm so glad! ... show more

  • Does the job but required extra work to assemble
Hard to put together. Pieces not adequately finished so we had to file down one piece to get it to connect. Once assembled we were able to install quickly on my dads bed. You must use the strap or it will not be safe or functional. My dad is happy with it and it gives him the support and stability to more safely get in and out of bed. ... show more
