Description

StrongBoard Balance is today's premier balance board. Perfect for all ages and fitness levels, it is portable and electricity-free. It employs patented multi-spring technology which promises users will never find a point of stabilization. Compressing under any weight bearing load, including the human body, StrongBoard’s springs are both reactive and dynamic. Simply standing on StrongBoard requires total core engagement. Unlike other balance devices on the market, StrongBoard Balance offers a flat, rigid platform, and it’s perfect for standing on one foot or two, planking on one hand or two, and v-sit exercises, allowing individuals to train using their own body weight. StrongBoard is easy and safe to get on and off, and its flat platform protects joints and surrounding ligaments from unnatural supination or strain, allowing the user to mimic real-life movements in all positions. StrongBoard Balance weighs 15 pounds and may also be used as a weight for bicep, tricep, chest and abdominal exercises. In addition to the muscular and skeletal benefits, use of StrongBoard requires the muscles to communicate with the brain, effectively opening, healing, restoring and strengthening delicate neural pathways. The biomechanics of spring technology coupled with the rigid platform require users to find their true center of gravity, allowing these neural pathways to be created or restored without fragmentation. StrongBoard delivers profound results to all levels of fitness enthusiasts, creating desired changes in how users look and feel, as well as improvement in balance, core strength, agility and posture. • It’s built really well and works great
I’ve been using this at my local gym for years and I finally bought one for myself. Amazing balance, durability and it’s my favorite way to do push-ups. This is one piece of exercise equipment that will be used daily. Thank you!

  • It's like surfing or wakeboarding without getting wet!
Color: Green
So my husband and I started working out with a personal trainers and this was one of their instruments of torture...and my husband loved it. He said he loved it so much because it actually ENERGIZED him and he felt so much better after doing it. I, on the other hand, took an entire month before I could let go of the pole next to it because I would fall over... However, after buying one for my husband for Father's Day, I realize that what I was trying to do was keep it completely level, but that isn't the point. Now I know that I don't have to keep it level, I can tip, and dip, and lean over with the best of them. Yesterday, I even did some squats on it while lifting weights and it was awesome. I also learned that the closer your feet are to center the easier it is to balance. I prefer to have my feet out to the edges, where it's more difficult and it engages my core more. Btw, I am a big chick, over 250, so if you are wondering if that is a problem with using it, it's not! Our kids keep stealing it from our bedroom because they like being on it as well. I am going to continue to find ways to use it during my workout. ... show more

  • Plenty of Flash, but No Substance
Color: Black
The great majority of Amazon Strongboard reviews are 4 and 5 star - this review is an outlier. It’s reasonable to be skeptical of a review that contradicts such a majority. Considering the Strongboard’s hefty price and the primary product focus based on an objective interpretation of the Strongboard website, the most obvious explanation is that perhaps other reviewers have been beguiled and blinded by “The Emperor's New Clothes” syndrome. I was enthused at the prospect of how the Strongboard would enhance my instability-themed workouts. I purchased it from as an Amazon Warehouse deal for $229 and returned it after three days of utter disappointment. More Effective, Smaller, Lighter and Safer at Less Than 25% of the Price As an unstable platform to perform strength and balance exercises the Strongboard is inferior in scope and effectiveness to the classic inexpensive combination of a simple round wobble board (starting at $30) and a ProStretch-style foot rocker (starting at $15). Physical Attributes: Weight 14.8 pounds, published dimensions: 26” x 18” x 10” On the plus side, the Strongboard is a brute, large and heavy, durably constructed to survive the rigors of a professional environment. But that’s also a huge minus. Even if your home studio isn’t pressed for space, repositioning the Strongboard between exercises is awkward and time-consuming. I wanted to use it as an unstable platform to enhance suspension trainer workouts, but the routines require that the Strongboard be precisely repositioned between movements and that process severely impacts training intensity and rhythm. The practical Strongboard foot platform dimensions are 18” x 13” at about 9-1/2” above floor level. The limited platform area is too restrictive to assume anything other than a shoulder width stance. I wanted to use the Strongboard to enhance Tai Chi movements with a static, yet unstable lower body, but standard horseback and front stances require a minimum platform length of over 28”. What’s in a Squat? Strongboard emphasizes the value of squats on an unstable platform. This is absolutely true, but the only practical squat supported on the Strongboard is shoulder width, parallel feet. That’s a good start, but it’s only the beginning of sport-performance orientated squatting. Among other variations, the Strongboard can’t accommodate wide stance squats, horseback rocking squats, offset-squats or perpendicular squats, which are preferred by agility training and movement-based athletes and physios. Speaking of Physical Therapy and Seniors Strongboard claims that it’s an effective physical therapy and senior exercise platform. Exercise safety both with a partner and while exercising solo is always a primary concern, but especially for these two groups. To provide perspective, U.S. building codes restrict step height in a flight of stairs to a maximum of 7-3/4” – imagine the kind of injury that could occur while a client performing a movement loses balance and awkwardly steps or partially falls off an unstable 10” high platform. A wobble board user is easily self-belayed with hiking poles or suspension trainer straps which assist balance and arrest falls without compromising movement integrity. (In this PT or Senior situation having free hands to hold dumbbells or kettlebells is not a requirement.) Because of the wide width of the Strongboard platform, using hiking poles directly to the sides to aid balance and arrest falls isn’t practical. To implement the Strongboard as a rehabilitation device or for senior usage it must be placed in an 8” to 9” high platform with a center cutout which drops the Strongboard down so it is only one to two inches above the external supporting platform; thus a client losing balance could safely step down an inch or two onto the adjacent surrounding platform. However, the elongated shape and rounded upswept corners of the Strongboard make constructing such a platform challenging and expensive. As a Balance Training Platform My biggest disappointment is the Strongboard as a balance training platform. The four-spring design has reasonable, although slow lateral movement, but only marginal front-to-back instability and range. Thus, it provides minimal vestibular system stimulation. Consider the three basic movements of a classic round wobble board: counter-rotating edging for rotational stimulation, rocking to provide linear front-to-back and side-to-side stimulation, and fulcrum balancing. Not only do these movements provide a complete vestibular workout, but the constant repositioning of the feet between ball-and-heel vertical orientation and the subtle lateral knee stresses reinforces natural proprioceptive response. Lunges The Strongboard website also emphasizes lunges, but the Strongboard is a poor lunge platform for multiple reasons: at 10” it’s much too high, which (inversely proportional to the user’s height) adversely modifies critical lunge biomechanics. As a demonstration, go to a stairway and perform a lunge on the first step (which is probably only 7-1/2”high), notice how difficult it is to bring the upper thigh parallel to the ground while significantly loading the quad. Also, placing a foot on the platform centered above four strong springs with a force of less than a third of one’s body weight produces minimal instability. Any moderately capable individual who has used a wobble board knows that it’s easier to balance with one foot placed over the center of the fulcrum (a half-sphere), than two feet placed on each side of the fulcrum. Both knee-up and knee-down effective and biomechanically sound unstable lunges can be safely performed on an inexpensive foot rocker. In addition to providing greater instability at only about 1-1/2” above the floor, the foot rocker enables somatosensory/proprioception system sensing and feedback initiated in the ankle and the ball of the dynamically rocking foot. Not to mention a greater quad range-of-motion workout and more stable knee flexion, especially when using suspension trainer straps for belay. In Closing, It’s a Lot of Flash with Minimal Substance At $229 to $269 the Strongboard is priced beyond the range of most individual users. I was asked by a friend, if I received a Strongboard as a gift, how would I use it? After consideration, I concluded that it would be stored in a closet, gathering dust. I am quite satisfied with the instability workouts provided by my suspension trainer, professional quality adjustable Fitter First 16”Wobble board, cheap ProStretch clone heel rocker and, for extreme thrills my guilty pleasure, a Vew-Do Flow board with a high performance tapered rock. The Vew-Do board notwithstanding, I’m always on the lookout for a safer and more effective instability workout – but the Strongboard isn’t it. ... show more

  • Exactly what I have been looking for!
Color: Orange
This is by far the best balance board on the market. Years ago, I purchased another brand balance board that consists of balancing a board on a cylinder that moves back and forth. The reason for purchasing a balance board was to get better at balance to improve my surfing and for overall fitness. Core workouts using balance boards can be some of the best workouts to improve health. I really enjoyed the other balance board, but it had a few flaws. For one thing, if you lost balance, the board could shoot out like a rocket and do some serious damage to anything it hits. Another problem is that since you are balancing on a cylinder that moves back and forth, it also tends to shift its position in the room gradually, causing you to have to get off the board, pick up both board and cylinder and then set back down in center of the room. This realignment had to be done about every minute or so of using the balance board. With the Strongboard, there is no back and forth movement, thus the 2 problems with the previous board are both eliminated! I literally cannot point out a single flaw with the strongboard. I was worried that the strongboard wouldn't be that difficult and that I wouldn't get as good of a workout as my old balance board. That couldn't be further from the truth. The best example I can give you as to what it feels like to stand on the strongboard is if you have ever been to a public park that had those old fashioned metal seahorse or other animals that are on a spring for little kids to climb on. If you as a kid ever tried to stand up on one those, this is the feeling that you get standing on the strongboard. It is impossible to find a balance point where you can just stand and rest. You could literally just stand on the strongboard, watch television and get a workout from the constant balancing you are doing. Then if you incorporate extra exercise like hand weights, squats, pushups etc, you will get a serious workout. I am so excited about this strongboard that I am going to tell everyone I know about it. This is the real deal. Get it, you will not be disappointed. ... show more
