    • Great NEW drive
First thing I checked was SMART. SMART reported 0 hours of useage, so this truely is a new drive. I am using if for external storage and it works fine on Windows 11. It has a power switch, so I shut it off between backups. Large amount of storage per dollar.

    • Good for what it is
For the cost, you get what you pay for. I needed a driver to begin backing up all my data from my server as some of the drives were beginning to show write faults. These were some Ooooold drives. 2TB purchased years ago that were very cheap, from the same company, and were white label drives. I thought going with these guys again was a good idea, what would a NEW drive offer me? The first drive I received was immediately making my computer complain as I was getting it ready. SMART data showed several errors related to not only heat (case design I am guessing, which is why this is no longer being promoted on their main site?), write errors and an unknown error. Looking at the data, several failure warnings and a power-on time of 18,000+ hours. For what was advertised as new, no mention of refurbishment or an internal white label drive, I received a device that was 2+ years old. Performance was also abysmal. I contacted Goharddrive directly and they RMA'd it right away. I was expecting them to have Amazon handle it first, but they took it. The replacement arrived and it is loads better. Performance is increased (can't ask much for a USB external drive) and it showed no hours of use and no errors. This will not be on 24/7, just long enough to transfer data and I don't know what I will do after it, but it was worth the money, despite the issues. 4 of 5 stars as it is what it is. Case design may have been a good idea at the time, and with it leaning more toward being an external hook up for a game console, I can see why heat would not normally be an issue. If using for long periods of time and under load; look for another hard drive. The case design is not made for that kind of use. ... show more

I received my first and plugged it in and my computer would jot recognize it. Contacted seller and they shipped a new one out quickly and code to ship first one back. Second one plugged in and appeared without any issues. Excellent bang for your buck on computer storage.

    • COMPLETE TRASH - Do not waste your money!!!!!
Item was received Oct 28. The box and packaging looked great - no evidence of damage. The appearance of the hard drive was perfect. I'm including these details because I don't believe the item was damaged with shipping. On Oct 29, I began moving files to the drive. I continued doing this over the next couple of days. On Nov 1, the drive stopped working. I received the following message: The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error. In hopes that the message was related to a problem with my PC, I tried 3 other laptops. The error was slightly different but the experience was the same on all PCs. I cannot recover the files that are on it. Fortunately, I have the files still saved on my other devices. I'm really glad this happened before I began to trust the device. I could probably return the drive - but I don't feel comfortable doing so. The drive will not allow me to reformat or delete. I get a message The parameter is incorrect from all PCs. The drive contains tax docs, banking docs, and loads of family pictures and videos. ... show more

By all means the large capacity of this hard drive is great, I really thought that it wouldn't have as much storage space very good speed and transfer I will add the name may not be considered in top ten list but personally I am satisfied with this product and enjoy using it

I purchased 2 of these and formatted them for Mac and started storing bunch of data on them. So far so good. For the price I am very pleased. Have not used their tech support (yet), which I why I did not give a rating for that.
