This chicken coop door seems to be better made than some of the others that I’ve tried. It opens and closes very smoothly. The solar panel contains the battery which is larger than other doors. It really feels solid. In the pictures of two panels, the larger one is for this door and the smaller is for another door Another thing that I like is that the controls are on the front of the door, not in the solar panel. In my case the door opens from the coop into a covered part of the run area, so it’s completely out of the weather. The photo cell is also located on the coop door which I like, but for some, putting it on the solar panel may allow you to be sure it gets good light, however, this door allows you to adjust the light level needed to open and close the door, so it can be set to very low light. Another feature of this door is that it is WiFi. It connects to your home WiFi and you have to download an app to control it. There’s not much to the app, but it does make programming it, and modifying the program extremely easy. I do wish that it worked with Smart Life, Smart Things, or Alexa, but it doesn’t. It only works with the one app on your phone. The app allows you to adjust the light level for the photo cell, allows you to adjust the “Gravity” level, which means how much pressure it takes to make the door stop closing, which is safety for the chicken. On the highest level, it closes hard on my hand, too hard for a chicken to be safe. I put it on the lightest level and it seems to stop just fine with a light touch. We’ll see how that works out, but I have it set to close after the chickens have perched. You can also set the door to close by time, or by the photocell. The clock is shown on the display, and automatically sets with your internet. It’s also very easy to adjust the open and closing time if you want to use the time. The app is nothing fancy, but gets the job done easily. You can also manually open and close the door from the app. Few nights ago the door closed with a chicken stuck in the wrong coop. I was able to open the door and she ran out and over to the other coop quickly and was happy. For now it’s working great. It’s about 50’ away from my house and still connects to the WiFi with no problem. I’ll update if things change.

Okay, so I am, for personal reasons, having to move out of my house and am in the process (nearly finished) of renovating a 5-window minibus to be my tiny home on wheels. I also have a small (10 lb) dog and an older cat who has been an outdoor cat for years (because she refuses to use a litterbox in the house), but she is my cat for better or worse. I had been noodling a way to keep her without making her an unhappy cat by locking her in the bus all the time. I read that these solar coop doors can be mounted on their side and it actually fits a bus window almost perfectly (with mounting hardware, of course). What I have made is a quick to set up screen-covered PVC pipe enclosure that attaches to the bus on the outside with some sling-like steps down to the grass/concrete (wherever I park) and with Minnie in her cage inside the bus, I can open this chicken coop door where she can go outside in a safe, enclosed area and watch birds, sniff the air, but if she wants to come back in, just step up on the sling steps back to her kitty cage where her food and bed and litterbox happen to be. I love that this can close with the app. If I find a place where we are there for a longer period of time, I'll probably put the coop door on a schedule so she can go out early in the morning and stay out until fairly late so long as the weather is nice. I love that it is powered by solar, too, but I think that maybe the small solar panel could be larger to provide more power storage to the coop door. Just my opinion, considering I have 600 watts of solar on my bus for my own AC/DC electrical system - solar is great, but if you have cloudy days, it can be harder to get a good charge and that's my point.

Finally! A coop door I can control remotely from my phone! Nowni can make sure my ducks are in safe at night and shut the door behind them even while I'm away from home. The door construction is solid and the solar charger keeps the battery topped up well. It was easy to install, just make sure you make a frame around whatever wall or door youre putting it on so it will be strongly mounted enough to resist prying raccoons and dogs. Its big enough for my ducks to go in and out of comfortably. The app is OK and it works but I wouldn't call it a great design.
