Update****** 06/05/2023 Autels customer support team reached out to me and was very concerned with what happened and were very apologetic about the situation. They are sending me a brand new unit to replace the other one just in case. I appreciate how fast and honestly caring they’ve been. I stand by my decision to purchase as they have made this situation right. I bought this product 07/13/2022 and had it professionally installed by a licensed electrician, our house is only a year old. I read all the reviews and aside from the customer service reviews the product seemed soiled. It’s worked great, charges fast, never once threw and error. I had my 2022 ID.4 plugged in all night last night 06/02/2023 and today 06/03/2023 I unplugged it to plug in our 2021 Mustang Mach E, not 30 seconds after I plugged the car in I heard a crackling and sizzling sound, frantically I unplugged the charger from the car and threw it on the ground, ran outside and shut the break off for the EV outlet. After inspecting the plug, outwardly it wasn’t to noticeable, I tried unplugging it and it was stuck. After a bit of tugging it came out and looked like that. I was flabbergasted. I called the electrician and showed him the pictures and he was shocked too. I called Autel and the customer service representative took my information and is apparently escalating it for review. Hopefully they make it right but also like wtf 😳 how does that happen.

Easy installation and working fine. Placed on outside of garage and will be in direct sun, so will add a cover for some shade. If installing on stucco, plan on using something under the backing plate to add a little extra clearance. Foam mat worked fine for the handle and some plastic spacers worked for the head unit. We’re not using the wifi or Bluetooth options, as smart charging is done from the car.

Replacing my old, level-2 charger at home. Did a lot of research on possible units. I have a Mini Hybrid and wanted to insure the charger was compatible with my car. The staff at Autel helped confirm the Maxi Charger was an appropriate unit. Delivery, and price, from Amazon was great. Installation was simple. Love the unit including--which I did not have before--WIFI capability.

I gave it 4 stars because you can’t manually power it off - maybe you can with the app but I haven’t figured it out yet. Also, since it is mounted on the outside of the garage (it is weather proof) it is us visible to anyone passing by - it would be useful to have a cover to put in when it’s not in use. I looked on their website and other places but it doesn’t exist.

I use this charger to charge my BMW i4 and it works great. installation was easy. It is bit heavy and you may need two people to hold it. Bluetooth and internet pairing was pretty easy. The performance is comparable to some of the highly priced brands. Highly recommend it.

The product installed easily and mobile features work well. Unfortunately, support does not seem to know about the more technical aspects of the product. I asked support about a listed connectivity feature - RS485. Though the response was quick, they were not able to answer my question about this features use. Two different support reps contacted me, I gave the same information to both. Neither could tell me for certain what I could do with this connectivity (I wanted to connect a datalogger via Modbus or whatever protocol may have been used, to independently record and store data) and neither offered any documentation that would let me figure this out on my own. And after being told they would check it out, I never heard back them. As far as the wish list - I wish that I could set the charge current level remotely and/or programmatically instead of having to remove two covers to get to the switch. Having this capability is important when trying to automatically balance a home’s solar production and usage (ie. trying to minimize grid usage automatically, instead of manually). Overall, the product is good and close to being a 5 star. But if they are going to advertise a feature, it is important that support has the knowledge to answer questions about that feature with expertise instead of speculation. Also, important to not leave the customer hanging with unanswered questions.
