This is a fine product. I have a Chevy Volt and I've been using its OEM charger so far. It plugs into a 110V power outlet, and it takes like 10-12 hours to fully charge the car. It was a really slow and painful process and if I had followed my EV rate time schedule and charged my car only during the low-cost hours then I couldn't get the car fully charged by the next morning. With this charger it's a different story! Level 2 charger with up to 40A charging rate lets me fill up my car in a matter of hours and it's guaranteed to be ready to go in the morning. The charger is very well made, it has a modern "minimalistic" design, there are only 4 status LEDs on its front showing power, charging, charging errors, Internet/Bluetooth connection status. Installation was very simple, and I was able to do it myself without needing to call in an electrician because I already have a 220V power outlet it requires in my garage. So, installation was a matter of drilling four holes in my wall and attaching the charger box right next to the wall power outlet. Configuration and setup is straightforward as well. You can use it with Bluetooth or without. If you choose to connect to it via Bluetooth then you can use its app to monitor charging, control charging mode and charging time, and you also have full user control over who's allowed to charge from it. As I said, the charger appears to be well made, quality construction, it feels like a professional high-end product. Inside there is a metal bracket that has to be mounted to a wall, the top cover is made of grey plastic. All connectors are heavy duty and wires are very thick and sturdy. Everything feels high-quality and built to last. It's also IP6 waterproof, which makes it perfect for installation outside. So, I don't worry about leaving it under the rain or hot sun and trust it will provide years of worry-free EV charging. Friendly speaking, this charger is more geared for shared access in a small office or an apartment because of its access control features - you can use a phone app or RFID card to control who has access to charging. If you enable the RFID feature then plugging in your car will not start charging unless you swipe registered RFID in the front of the charger. So, it's perfect if you install it in a public place in order to prevent unauthorized charging by someone, but I don't need these features for my home charging station because it's located in my garage. It's possible that that's the reason why it's so expensive (around $540 at the time of writing this review). For this price I would expect that it would have an LCD screen as well showing "advanced" information like charging status, charging rate, estimated time to full charger, etc, but it doesn't. One of the best things about the Autel MaxiCharger is its connectivity. You can always change the settings via its control panel, but I prefer to do it remotely via the app. The Autel Charge app is free and available in both Android and iOS. You can access your account from several phones at the same time in case you need to share the charger and access to it between your household members. The app also allows you to start charging, stop charging and program charging plans. This is a big deal if you are using a time-based electric utility plan when your electricity is cheaper in some specific period of time. You can also monitor your energy consumption remotely via the app. The amperage is also adjustable, so you can set it below 40A to suit your particular car if needed. *** TL;DR *** Yes, I recommend this EV level 2 charger. It is very well built and heavy-duty, fully waterproof IP65, WiFi and Bluetooth-enabled with an app that gives you full control of charging mode and time. It's rated for level 2 fast charging, up to 40A, and has a long and thick charging cable. In addition, it allows for user access control via app or RFID. Unfortunately, it does not have an LCD display and does not allow charging from a 110V power outlet, limiting its application, which could be an issue for someone. I found the installation very easy, providing options for multiple methods of connection and blanking off open ports along with all the needed security tools. The only complaints I have on the installation was that a 2 hole wire clamp was not included for the incoming cable for the interior connection and that my instructions did not include anything on the dial setting for the power limiting output. Fortunately, I was able to find a manual online on their website that explained how to set this. Using with my new Ioniq 6 was brainlessly easy, just plugged it in and done. The only feature I saw really lacking was a way to abort a charge in progress. If you want to use your vehicle before the desired charge state was reached, then getting it to abort so you can unplug may prove challenging. ... show more

Very good it’s like number 5 in electric chargers. But a tip I didn’t know was that it looks like it has a screen for info and stuff but no I don’t know why it looks like it but just the LEDs light up and everything is through your phone. So if there’s a better deal for the one without the screen trust me your not missing anything. Also if you get the one with the 240 14-50 plug just know they send it so it can be plugged in upside down so you’ll have to flip your receptacle. Which isn’t a problem but still over all very good product. ... show more

Charger works well but has some issues. The plug-in cord is very short and not very flexible. I had the outlet installed after I mounted the charger which I recommend so the electrician could install the outlet exactly where it needed to be. If you already have an outlet be aware it's not like plugging in a lamp and you may have to install the charger at a very odd height. Also, the app has potential but after an Apple iOS update and an Autel Charge app update I can no longer login to the app. The charger still works but several features, like scheduled charging, are no longer available without the app. Contacting Autel support initially sounded hopeful as they said they were aware of the problem and working on a fix but it has been a good month and I still can't use the app. Update Since writing my initial review, Autel emailed me with a work around fix. Autel app and iOS were updated around the same time. Not really sure which one or if both updates were the problem but the problem was caused by my use of a VPN. The work around fixed the problem as long as the VPN was off. Then a few days later, the Autel app had an update which completely fixed the problem and it now again runs fine with the VPN on. Even better, since the update, Autel has contacted me several times to make sure every thing was handled to my satisfaction and everything was working well, which it is. Today I got a message saying they were issuing me a full refund, which I never even asked for. I still have the charger which I am very pleased with and am more than satisfied with their customer service. Would now highly recommend Autel Products. ... show more

Not much to dislike here, just make sure never to throw out the manual as it has the pin code for the charger. 40 Amps, check. App is basic, but who needs it. Solidly built and good cord length. Tesla model y.
