I bought this unit to replace a 26 year old Atwood water heater on my Park Home. I was surprised that I could not find a heater to replace the original like n kind!! I was able to make this heater work, but it required that I fabricate a face flange because the new heater is smaller than the original. I attached a photo of the new water heater, and the old original Atwood heater. The new heater is 6 gallons, versus the 10 gallon capacity of the old heater. However, the burner size is the same on both units. And the new unit has spark ignition versus the old standing pilot. Overall, the installation was fairly easy, and I am very impressed with the new water heater!! I would recommend it!! ... show more

i bought this water heater to to replace an older model ( pilot light ) style in our old camper. i had to run a 12 wire from the power control box thru a fuse then thru a switch i bought at r v supply house. instalation was easy just had to put in a piece of filler wood as my older w h was wider. i am very happy with this w h. 6 gallons is serving me very well i am able to take a shower ( reasonable time) and still have some if its not how water left. i would recommend this product. i will say this. some units during shipping tend to have the thermal fuse not positioned correctly. and it will blow the t c o (safety) other than that its amazing ... show more

    • Issue after Issues
Not two months after install the heater started doing a lockout within two weeks that the heater would not stay lit, this is an oem product, so no warranty. Did the troubleshooting myself pointed to a bad control board, as $286 I had to pay to get it working again. Dometic did offer a warranty on the part but I had to have it checked at a service center That has a two month waiting period and within the first week, it has locked out again, I do not recommend this product. I will be looking for a different water heater. ... show more

    • Where’s the door!
This is supposedly a direct replacement from the manufacturer. It’s not, you’ll have to do some work. To make it fit if you had an older model. And then, it doesn’t have a damn door! It’s like selling a car without a hood, or door or maybe both. Stupid world we live in!

    • A very good replacement for the original
The original water heater in my camper trailer was installed in such a way that the water inlet connection was pressing against the floor resulting in a broken weld. Local welders, aluminum certified, didn’t want to touch it because attempted repairs usually ended up bad, so I opted to replace it. The original heater had a pilot light which required a manual light with each setup. This replacement has a automatic demand spark which required me to tap into the trailer’s 12 volt electrical system and add an electrical switch. This required a bit of studying of the electrical diagrams to make the right connections. The replacement was also was about 3 1/2 inches narrower than the original, requiring me to do some adaptations in order to use the original door.     • This model not electric+ gas
It is not electric and gas which was the way I had described that I needed. So make sure you specify you ate in need of an 110 AC on the electric side and propane gas on the burner side 12 volts is for the pilot ignition.
