We got this for our kitten and he started using it right away. Granted you need to scoop vs it being layer and not having to scoop as all. Overall we are very please as the kitten is using it and not leaving a mess of litter all over the floor when he goes to cover it or jumps out which is the best part of this unit. I love this litter box, and so do my two cats (11 years and 3 months)! They both use it without hesitation. It’s roomy but still fits perfectly inside our litter box enclosure (https://a.co/d/95bRSSH). The high walls are the perfect height! My cats can’t kick litter over the edge, but they can still stand up and scratch the heck out of the sides (instead of covering their business, of course), which they both love to do. A bit small for a full-grown cat, I definitely suggest getting a bigger one. For reference I have a 2 year old Russian blue cat and a 1 year old tabby. They do enjoy it, but I might have tocreplace it just because its a bit too small. Also, the walls dont do a whole lot to block them kicking litter out (again, since the box is so small) so I only really recommend getting this box for a kitten. ... show more

    • Will this survive your distance kicker cats?

So a a quick write up on this item: Pros: - price is good, it was on special and can’t beat that - additional walls/height is good because my cats are apparently over here kicking for LSU. Literal field goals. - name brand with is more than I can say for most. Cons: - sizing of the model I bought was small considering I was getting this for multiple cats. I think the seller could probably put some better pictures for sizing than a quick measurement picture. Too many show photoshopped cats etc so at least improve on those other manufacturers. - plastic was quite thin, and was slightly deformed in shipping I suspect. Again the sizing probably leads to this thinner plastic and the price pushes build quality down a bit. Will it last? Not sure at this point, - the attachment mechanism of the walls is decent, but it could be better. - the opening is a bit far back, so I am wondering if my football cats will be able to kick their litter over its walls or not. Overall it’s not a bad product, but comparing to the larger “Sophresh” covered product I will say it is clearly a cheaper build and physically smaller product. Probably will be ok, but if you want to give your cat additional space it’ll be lacking. Will update as we get more experience with it. ... show more

    • My litter scatter issue appears to be gone! YAY!!

I ordered two of these boxes. Although my cats have been using them for a little less than a week, I am already extremely pleased with the lack of litter scatter. Before these boxes, my Dustbuster worked overtime to clean up the kitty litter mess. Several reviewers mentioned that the top doesn't clip together very well and comes loose easily. My boxes are located underneath a folding counter in my laundry room, so I have to slide them forward when I clean them each morning. I have had no challenges with the top coming loose from the box. As long as I grab the rim of the box, it slides back and forth very easily. Scooping is easy. I don't have to remove the top and am able to scoop them clean. I do wish the boxes were a little larger. If the company ever makes a larger version, I would like to be one of the first to know. My cats are accustomed to bigger boxes. They are, however, able to use these boxes just fine. I cannot mark down for the size; because, when I ordered them, I was aware they were smaller than the previous boxes. I would order these again. They are a great buy. ... show more

    • Very flimsy lid, constantly detaches and falls off

This litter box is awful. The lid is very flimsy. Without the lid, the box is too low and my cat tosses half his litter out onto the floor. The lid raises the sides, but it's so lightweight and thin, when my cat paws at it, it bends and snaps off the sides. Almost every day, when I would scoop his box, the lid would be halfway off or laying next to the box. I think it popping off while he was using it scared him, because he started going to the bathroom next to it instead of inside it. He has lived with me for 9 years and never messed outside of his litter box, and now he quit using it. I bought him a new litter pan without the lid but with high sides, much sturdier, and now he is using his new litter box. Since he only got a couple weeks' use out of this litter box, I wanted a refund. The only option was to open a return, but I didn't think Amazon would want a nasty, used litter box showing up at their facility, so I called Amazon's customer support team to see if they could issue a refund without the return. I was told that, per Amazon's policy, the only way they could issue a refund is I returned it. I explained to the customer service rep very clearly that this a USED litter box. It has been peed and pooped in. It has little dusty paw prints on it. I asked the rep if it was really necessary to return it, because that's unsanitary. He put me on hold to talk to his lead, and then he came back and assured me that it was necessary to return it. "I'm sure the UPS workers and people at Amazon who receive this return will be thrilled," I told him. I'm really not sure what Amazon plans to do with a cheap, flimsy, smelly used $20 cat litter box, but it must be really important to subject their workers and UPS partners to something like that. So I dumped the old cat litter in the trash, put the used litter pan and crappy lid into a trash bag and put it into a box and taped it closed. I'll drop it at the UPS store this week. I hope that the Amazon worker who unpackages it washes their hand before handling the next item. So gross. ... show more
