This is my signature color ✨ I first tried this color specifically in July 2020, I’ve been using arctic fox since like 2017 after battling with pink (just the nature of the color) I wanted a more hands off color, so I tried purple and loved it, but then I got bored with that after a year or so and once I got this blue in my hair and saw it dried. That’s all she wrote it’s been my hair color ever since I’ve included photos of various stages of washes. The last one is almost six months without a redye and YEARS without bleaching my dark blonde hair. First is with a fresh lightening and the color after one wash to get residual color out. Using this brand all these years I’ve picked up a few tricks to make this color go as long as possible (and make it impossible to get out probably) 1. Let that dye marinate in your hair, the bottle says about 30 minutes, I’d go for about 3 hours minimum. Sleep in it if you can. The dye is conditioner based so it’s not going to harm it whatsoever (probably do the opposite!) I leave mine in for about 6 hours or so, I usually take a cozy nap on redye day with a towel on my pillow to prevent staining 2. Do not wash it for the first 48 hours, any dye you left in is going to saturate into the follicle even more, hopefully staining it in the process. Cold water those first few washes where the color is still bleeding out after shampoo is VITAL bc that’s indication the follicle hasn’t closed all the way 3. Don’t just shampoo before you apply, if you can handle it use a clarifying shampoo and absolutely do NOT condition whatsoever before applying the dye, you want the follicle as open and dry as possible to help make sure it absorbs the color Also EVERYONES HAIR IS DIFFERENT just because this dye works great for me doesn’t mean it’s going to achieve the same result on you~ 🖤 ... show more

Well, I wanted to try purple because its mine and a lot of my friends' favorite color so I thought it would be fun to switch it up from my usual red...the red usually washes out within 1-2.5 months and I get a pretty strawberry blond color, it has been at least 3 months and this purple is holding STRONG I've washed it hot, with clarifying shampoo, detox shampoo, and this purple is determined to stay. I'm not mad about it it was just so unexpected since my experiment with the red was washing out pretty quickly, but damn yeah this is truly purple AF 10/10 recommend it if you want long-lasting purple hair. :) ... show more

My daughter uses this. I bleach her hair for her and wait 24 hrs and then dye it with this. I love that it isn't messy. It rinses clear. There's no bleeding. The color is so vibrant and beautiful. The more you wash your hair the faster it fades just like all dyes. Try to only wash your hair a couple times a week and use dry shampoo in between and you should get a few months of intense color. Also the lighter your hair the more vibrant the color is. So if you want the best color get your hair as blonde as you can. Im a big fan of this brand now. Whenever my daughter wants something colorful this is our go to. I also mix any extra color in with my daughter's conditioner. Purple Rain and Virgin Pink brought. few years ago. Used again few years later, still works very well long as you seal and store it away properly. I lighten my hair up about halfway since it was dark brown like tree. Turned it into medium brown first to help color pops out. Used purple from root to half way, then pink from ends and up halfway to blend with purple. I love that it doesn't sting your eyes/nose like another hair dyes. It does smell nice, little like flower/soap. One bad thing that it can continue stain your clothes/sheets even days after it dries and washed with cold water. Smells great. Doesn't rub off on my boyfriends arm when I lay on him (yeah some of those other brands do that). Color lasts longer than any of the other brands I've tried (and I've tried A LOT). I have dark brown hair and it does show throughout it, but I would suggest lightening up first if you want it to really pop. I did that on parts so those show more bright. So according to my purchase history I have been using this color (ish) for 5+ years and they have made some not amazing changes over the years. So It started out as Purple Rain which was an amazing color, a very deep purple that only stayed purple long. It didn’t bleed too bad and washed off non hair surfaces pretty easily. It also would fade to a nice magenta after a while. Actually hydrated my hair, was easy on the skin and smelled amazing. So a year or so ago they changed the formula and the name to “Purple AF” which honestly is much less purple. - Not only is it a purple on the pinker side it fades to pinkish much quicker, like 2 washes, than it used to. - I figured they use less blue now because generally blue on its own washes out a lot faster. But there is a much higher red/pink concentration here than I would like. - Additionally this stuff is much less skin/or accidentally eye friendly. It will itch on the skin/scalp if left on for the same amount of time (45 minutes +) as the old formula. If you get it in the eyes they will burn AF (maybe that's where they were going with the AF). -It will dry out my hair pretty badly now to the point I have to add extra moisturizer after I rinse this out. -Now it doesn’t smell as good at all, more of a “meh” smell. I was hoping they would change back or maybe it was a bad batch but over a dozen bottles (year and half) later and it is still not as purple and not as skin friendly as it used to be. I used to be a dye ( ;) pun intended) hard Arctic Fox fan but I have to say now I am starting to try some other brands in hopes they are what this used to be. ... show more
