My husband and I were able to install this water softener ourselves by following the directions from the manual provided and following along some videos on youtube. We have no plumbing experience at all so don't feel afraid to do it yourself if you already have a soft water loop pre-plumbed. We have the 1 inch soft water loop so we purchased 2 sharkbite 24 inch line connectors with 1 inch to 1 inch heads from amazon also. If you have the 3/4 inch sized loop, you can purchase the sharkbite 3/4 inch to 1 inch fitting lines instead. Honestly, we weren't even sure what size loop we had. We just eyeballed it. You could always buy both and return the one that doesn't fit. We went to home depot to get the rest of the stuff, copper pipe cutter, plumbers tape, sanding paper etc... Took us around 2 hours. Most of which was just making sure everything was done correctly so there wouldn't be any leak. If we had to do it again, we could probably do it in less than 1 hour. Unit was not as heavy as we initially thought. We were able to move it with just the 2 of us. It came in 2 boxes. Just so you know, there is no welding involved, the sharkbites will automatically lock into the pipe. That was my biggest worry regarding installing ourselves. One guy has a really good video on youtube from beginning to end. I really recommend watching that prior to attempting the install. I spent a lot of time researching water softeners before choosing this one and I'm so glad I did. You can definitely tell a huge difference in the water quality with this softener. Your skin and hair will feel really soft and amazing after the first use. I'm so glad we decided to go this route instead of spending thousands of dollars with a soft water company that uses scare tactics to get your money. Don't get ripped off. Hopefully this review will help someone that wants to save some money.

Installation instructions were easy to follow. The company’s customer support is first class. I needed an adapter for 1”to 3/4” pipe and Aquasure sent the adapter for free. The unit has worked wonderfully for almost two years on well water.

You DO NOT have to be a plumber to install one; however, you do need a STRONG basic understanding to self install. The ability to read and follow instructions is critical to this one. The instructions are very good and images are very helpful. The bottle is very heavy so you may need help moving it in some situations. If you forget to request a 3/4" adapter (like I did) it will cost you abut $12 to get one shipped to you. If you have 1" plumbing you don't need it. I really like the control head cover, it makes it very easy to keep clean in a garage environment. The setup and programming processes were simple and easy to follow. The water quality is great.

Trying to install this using hard piping and Teflon is NOT the way to go. After several tries, it still leaked, so I used corrugated 1” supplies from HD that have rubber washers to ensure leak proof install and quick change out if needed. The settings are a bit involved but I haven’t had to mess too much with the standards to keep clean softened water. All connections are sufficient and quick apart from already mentioned. Uses less salt than I used to and does a nice job. Consider using additive from store once in a while to clean the resin and make it last longer. I got 20 years off last resin but this fine mesh might clog up a little quicker.

I don't ever write reviews, but have to after a purchase of this softener. And pardon the length of the review. Purchased 12/9/23, and registered new unit within a day. Installed myself as I plumbed my entire house when built. ( Well schooled in plumbing trade school ) Manually regenerated softener twice as directions indicate. Waited 2 - 3 days for "soft" water. No Go. Rust forming on faucets, appliances, and bathrooms. Verified connections, and settings and regenerated. No Soft water. 1/10/24, requested assistance via their Tech support. Got this back from "Gilbert": Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry that you are having issues with your system. Can you help provide the following information for us so we can further assist you with your concern? 1. Picture of the system install including the connection from the control valve to the brine tank. 2. Picture of the brine tank with the black lid open and white lid removed on the white cylinder to show the connection of the brine line to the elbow 3. Picture of the back of the control head that shows the bypass valve and connection from the inlets and outlets 4. Picture of anything else hooked up to your water softener 5. Picture of where your water source comes in from 6. Picture of the plumbing leading back to the home 7. Order number 8. Serial number Sent all the info and photos as requested. 1/11/24 , got this email bacK: ( prepare yourself ) Hello, If possible, can you help perform the following troubleshooting? This way we can see if there are any issues with how the system regenerates. Please help remove or add some water in the brine tank so the water level is around a half tank full. * Float Valve Check - look inside the brine well (white cylinder that houses the float assembly) and grab the pole that the float valve is attached to and give it an up/down movement for a few seconds. It will only move a fraction of an inch. This up/down movement will ensure that the float valve is free-floating and not in a stuck position. This will ensure that the float valve can shut off the brine fill if the water gets too high. Please make sure that no one is going to be using the water for the next 2 hours before you start this step. Start a manual regeneration by pressing and holding the cycle button (the button with three arrows) for about 5 seconds. The system will start the regeneration with BW (Back Wash 15 minutes), BD (Brine Draw 60 mins), RR (Rapid Rinse 10 mins), and BF (Brine Fill 12 mins). * Checking for suction - After the initial BW stage(15 min) the system will go into the BD stage. During the BD stage, the water level should slowly go down from the brine tank. If the system draws the water normally, it should be able to finish drawing the water within the first 20 to 30 mins. If the water level still stays the same 10 minutes into the brine draw, disconnect the brine line from the outside of the brine tank and place the brine line directly into the brine well (white cylinder inside the brine tank), and submerge into the water. If you had to disconnect the line, please let us know whether the line had a suction, fill, or nothing at all. When the system is in the RR stage, reconnect the brine line back to the elbow( if you had to disconnect it) and make sure the line is inserted about 1/2” into the connection. Once the line is reconnected and the regeneration reaches the BF stage, please check the line and see if there is any water leaking from the connection. If there’s a water leak, please take a picture of where the leak is. If there’s no leak, please continue with the regeneration until the end and make sure the water is filled back into the brine tank, halfway full. Please let us know if the water flowed back into the brine tank. If not filling, remove the line again and insert it directly into the white tube to see if the water can flow freely. When you are done with the process please reply to this email with the following information: Was the float stuck? Did the system draw the brine water on its own during the BD stage? Did you have to disconnect the line? If you disconnected the line, did it suction the water then? Did you notice any leaks? During the BF stage did the water fill up the salt tank? On 1/14/24 go this reply from them: ( WHAT ?? ) We have not heard back from you regarding your open ticket with us and assume everything is resolved. If you still need support, please respond to this email so that we can keep your service ticket open. If no additional support is needed please delete this email and we will automatically close the ticket for you. Thank you. Aquasure 1/22/24 - They requested water sample, which I completed and sent using test strips Over 425 hardness level. ( Way too much ) Next reply from them: Thank you for providing an update. The reading of 425 hardness is definitely unusual after a regeneration cycle. Can you please test the cold and hot water in a rest room in the home if the current test results were taken from a kitchen faucet. Also when you ran the cycle did you notice the system did suction up the salt mixed water during the regeneration cycle after 45 minutes. We may want to take a test of the water that comes directly out of the outlet port of the system to see if the results are different but we will wait to hear back from you. Next they wanted an IRON test: ( and ADD more water to the brine tank ) Thank you for providing an update. Can you please confirm what is the iron level in the water before it is treated? The fine mesh resin should effectively remove up to 10ppm in iron on a consistent basis. We also recommend adding another gallon of water to the brine tank with the salt, allow it to sit and mix with the salt for at least and hour or more. Afterward lets run a second regeneration cycle to see if we can refresh the resin beads to remove any residual build of iron in the resin tank. Feb 2, 2024 ( got this ) Thank you for confirming. Would you mind sending more photos of the plumbing lines surrounding the water softener so we can best understand how the water flows in and out? ( they couldn't determine that from all the photos previously sent ? ) They also wanted me to test water pressure from the well pump. ( I abliged - 52 lbs to be exact ) Also this : "Thank you for providing the test results. Can you confirm if you're on city water or well water? " Then asked for another water sample from a different faucet ( bathroom ) 2/8/24: ( got this ) Thank you for providing the requested pictures. The next step we will take will be to confirm what the hardness level of the water is coming out of the outlet port of the water softener.Can you please obtain a bucket, and shut off the main water valve to the home. Please put the system in bypass, then unthread the outlet port flex line. Place the bucket there to catch the water that will come out of the outlet. The open the inlet and outlet valves on the system and turn on the main water valve momentarily to have water be pushed in and out the system into the bucket. Lets test that water in the bucket to see if there if the water results are different. If the result are the same, we will move forward with confirm the correct media is inside of the tank. ( I'm about to the end of my rope at this point - advised if this doesn't correct the issue, I would like a refund. - ) So, I sent this ( after buying a digital water tester ) Good Afternoon .. I have completed two (2) test, using a digital drinking water tester, instead of plain test strips.. The results are attached. * Test 1 Water tested from Kitchen faucet. Reading 1180 ppm. Using the formula of dividing the result by 17.1, this comes out to 69 gpg. Both number way too high. * Test 2 Water tested directly from the OUTPUT side of the Softener bypass valve as requested. Result is 990 ppm. This makes it 57.89 gpg. Better, but still not reasonable.This system is doing VERY LITTLE to reduce the hardness in my water. Please initiate the steps for a refund, as I have completed multiple troubleshooting methods to assist as much as possible. Next Email Reply: Thank you for providing an update. We also would like to confirm with you all of the settings on the system are programmed correctly. You mention the cycle took an hour but if the settings are correct each cycle should take an hour and fifty five minutes. We can you give you a call when you are free to walk through the settings with you. We also want to confirm the system does suction the salt mixed water during the BD stage and that the system refills the tank with new water during the BF stage. And ( look closely ) Thank you for providing an update. The test results will help us to identify if the issue is with the resin beads inside the softener or if the treated water is meeting untreated water somewhere after the water leaves the system. Please test the water directly from the system, water from a faucet, and also water from before the system treats the water. The questions about the regeneration cycle were only asked because you stated the cycle only took 1 hour. We can bypass completing those steps again. In regards to a refund we are beyond the 30 days return date therefore we would like to identify the issue and get the system running properly. We hope this information helps, and we look forward to hearing the test results. NOTE: System comes with a 2 year warranty, I asked for a replacement, but got this : "Unfortunately, as I mentioned we cannot accept a return that is over 30 days old. I understand that you are frustrated and we do want to help you but in order to figure out what is wrong with the unit we do need to make a fair assessment of the unit." Along with: The system is currently under warranty which covers all replacement parts. We will need to continue to trouble shoot the system to identify what part if any need to be replaced. We hope this information helps. 2/27/24: "We will look forward to hearing the results of the water hardness test on the different locations we described. We will do our best to make any trouble shooting steps requested as simple as possible for you." So, I took a sample to my local Salt/Softener supply store to get accurate results and sent to Aquasure. ( Harness 120, 990 TDS and Iron 4 ) Got this reply: " I was able to have the ticket reviewed by our specialist department to provide some additional insight. The test results of 40ppm in iron appears to be affecting the way the system softens the water. It appears 100 drops in the test represent above 25gpg of hardness and this level along with the iron level is much more than the softener can handle to provide softened water. The advice given is to get a lab test on your untreated water to confirm water conditions to confirm the findings that levels in the water are higher than the softener can handle. There is a lab test site called mytapscore.com where you can get lab testing done on your untreated water to get detailed results of the levels in the water." So NOW they want me to buy a water test kit ( over $100 ) and think we might get a different result ? And as of 2/29/24 , last reply: ( NOTE: Read closely... they think there might not be resin in the tank ) "The next step we will take will be to confirm the tank is filled with resin in the tank, and also measure the amount of resin in the tank. This will require the electronic control valve to be removed from the tank. We can provide instructions on how to remove the electronic control valve if needed. Once the valve is removed please take a picture of the inside of the tank with the flash on to provide us with a visual of the resin. Once the valve is removed please use a tape measure to push down into the tank slowly until you feel resistance. The resistance represents the ceiling of the resin bed, the space from the resin bed to opening of the tank will tell us how much resin is in the tank." Final thought. This system MAY work for you if you have clean city water, and THINK your water is better after connecting one. Take a sample before AND after to see the results if you purchase one of these floor weights. If you have well water... forget it. It simply doesn't work. My thought is this is just another company manufacturing "cheap" alternatives / options, and could care less about the end user / consumer, or weather their product performs as it should. It's most likely the reason it's also being sold by Big Box stores. Amazon might want to re-think their partnership with them. As always ... Cheap isn't good, and Good isn't cheap.
