Features

  • EASY TO USE - This carbon media pad replaces loose carbon in your aquarium. Our charcoal aquarium filter pads perform the same duty as activated carbon granules without the mess of spilled carbon and carbon dust particles in your aquarium. Cut your carbon aquarium filter pad to fit your filter, rinse, and it is ready to go!
  • ELIMINATES ODOR AND DISCOLORATION! - Activated carbon, also known as activated charcoal, removes foul odors from aquarium and pond water LEAVING A CRISP CLEAN SMELL. The thin carbon coating creates a large surface area for the carbon to trap and remove water discoloration, residual medications, toxins, pollutants and more to keep your water crystal clear.
  • INCREASE WATER QUALITY Changing the carbon filter for fish aquarium regularly WILL INCREASE WATER QUALITY by removing solid organic compounds before they break down.
  • TOUGH AND DURABLE - The strong fibers of our filter carbon aquarium pad can take a lot of punishment, even standing up to outdoor pond use. The fish tank carbon filter pad has no risk of ripping and spilling carbon in your tank. Made in the USA.

  • A must!
Size: Carbon Filter 10.5" x 72"
You can’t have a pond or aquarium with with out carbon. So stock up. Pricey but necessary! Ps: you still need algae killer and other filter materials can be cleaned and used twice.

  • It works for me and my sump filtration system
Size: Carbon Filter 10.5" x 36"
I probably do not get the full value of this product. I use it for 30 days and then replace it with a new one. It fits perfectly in my sump when I cut it where it folds in half. I get two months out of the one packet. I have never tried to clean it and use again. So, I cannot speak to that. I have some very expensive fish that I have had for several years, that I love, and I just don't penny pinch when it comes to keeping their environment clean and healthy. I have been using this product for over 2 years and will continue to do so as long as the quality doesn't change. ... show more

  • Does not last.
Size: Carbon Filter 10.5" x 36"
These pads to not last beyond a week. They get clogged much easier than any other sponge filter I have used and are a pain to rinse out. On top of that after about a week it becomes extremely flimsy and allows water to divert around it too much to actually be useful.

  • Leaches Phospahte
Size: Carbon Filter 10.5" x 36"
I emailed Aquatic Experts twice and asked if their carbon leached phosphate as some activated carbon does but they did not reply. Some companies explicitly state on their packaging that their carbon does not leach phosphate but there is no mention of phosphate whatsoever on the AquaticExperts' packaging. I tested their product by cutting a 1"x3" strip of the carbon pad and immersed it in 1/2 cup of RO/DI 0 TDS water in a glass beaker for 48 hours. I then used an API Phosphate Test to test the water with the carbon pad in it and the test very clearly indicates the presence of phosphate (see included pictures). For me, the leaching of phosphate from AquaticExperts' carbon pad will feed and encourage nuisance algae growth in my aquarium which I want to avoid. If I was unconcerned with the pad leaching phosphate, this would be an acceptable carbon pad. For low light aquariums I think this pad would be fine. However, for strongly lit aquariums, it's my opinion that this product is likely to contribute to unwanted algae blooms. ... show more
