Description

How does the Spider Farmer Automatic Watering System work? Fill the reservoir with water. Through the force of gravity, the water flows into each self-watering base. The self-watering base uses highly absorbent wick lines to draw water to the grow bags, ensuring the soil and roots stay consistently moist. Can this automatic watering system be used with plastic pots? No, it has to be a fabric pot in order to leach water from the wick. The plastic pot wouldn't work. When can my plants start using the self-watering system? When the roots have reached the bottom of the fabric pot. In the early stages, seedlings have small root systems that may not reach the wick lines effectively. We recommend top-watering for the first 2-3 weeks until the roots grow deeper. How can I tell if my plant's roots have reached the bottom of the fabric pot? Leaf Position: The plant’s leaves are level with the rim of the fabric pot. Root Growth: Dried roots are visible at the bottom of the fabric pot, either poking through or clinging to the fabric.

I really love this system. I've got two and they take a lot of hassle out of keeping the plants watered. If you're running this through a tent I'd recommend raising it off the ground a bit so you can use more of the capacity. Additionally if you set it on something to push the bottom up a bit you'll be able to run it closer to out if you're changing nutrients or similar. ... show more

If you are debating whether or not to get this, I say pull the trigger. Important thing to remember though is your first Walgreens you may have to top water your plants to get the soil wet so it will Wick the rest of the way. But after it's up and running the plants grow very rapidly

I had one of these that I used for veg before and I wasn't impressed so I decided to use it for flower here's the ugly part they don't tell you the roots will grow through the wicks and into the tubes which are very small diameter approximately a quarter inch they will clog those tubes and then your plants will die if left unattended because of so many times that I have been able to go for a couple days at a time and leave the plants unattended that's the entire reason that I bought these in the first place I thought I would be all right but I just lost an entire crop because the first plant grew Roots down the clogged the tube and none of the other plants got water ... show more

Not bad it seems to work pretty good I would’ve preferred a reservoir that was a sturdy plastic. If it ripped that’s a lot of water on your floor. It’s some kind of material that’s been sewed together. Perfect for shipping horrible for longevity. You can put up the 7 gallon fabric pots on these so that’s nice Inside the reservoir where the water flows to the pots. They have the fitting up a couple inches higher than the bottom of the reservoir. So you will definitely need to mix your water up because there is a huge spot that will not drain. If you’re adding nutrients you’re going to have to count for what is in the bottom of that also unless you lift the entire reservoir up and let all of the water run into your pots if there is room. That is a horrible design. Installation was straightforward and easy The plastic pots themselves seem to be very durable. They should last numerous years as long as you keep replacing the cotton. I paid $100 almost maybe a little more. I think it was marginally worth it. I don’t think I would ever buy again. I would probably go with an auto pot system. ... show more
