Even with regular weekly service from a professional maintenance technician—and encouraging guests to rinse off before entering—there can still be oils, lotions, or detergent residue that cause unwanted bubbles. I guess this works. Thankfully, we don't regularly have scum to wipe out of our hot tub, so this was probably something I didn't need to buy. The turtle floats upside down all the time and it's a little disconcerting to have a dead turtle floating around in the hot tub with you. ;-)

Well it is really a scum collector. After you add the clarifier and get it the hot tub from cloudy to clear this thing absorbs the crap that floats to the top in bubbles.
