The Ancel DS600 has been relatively helpful. Upon unboxing, the on-board software needs to be updated: the downloads and install took a couple hours. It was also somewhat glitchy: the Ancel unexpectedly shut off twice and had to be manually restarted each time. Thankfully, the updates were merely paused by the shut off, and I didn't have to start from scratch. However, be aware that this isn't an item you can simply remove from the box and start using; expect at least an hour of preparation. I have two vehicles that I've used this on. One is a late 90's Toyota 4Runner, and, frankly, I have not been able to get the Ancel to work with it. It asks for vehicle codes and classifications that I don't have nor which appear to be readily accessible, and trial and error hasn't allowed me to stumble on the correct selections. I intend to try to update the Toyota specific software (again) to see if that can remedy the issue, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. This is obviously frustrating. On the other hand, the Ancel has been incredibly helpful with my VW Golf (Mk 4). It has been able to interface with a multitude of the car's diagnostic systems and alerted me to a plethora of issues that standard OBDII diagnostic tools hadn't; it also provided much more specific information than a standard OBDII tool. I've been able to clear codes related to issues that I've addressed, and I've been much more successful at diagnosing ongoing problems as a result. The VW is now in much better shape than it was throughout the time I've owned it; thanks to the Ancel guiding my own amateur mechanic efforts. For this reason I feel very positively towards the Ancel DS600. The Ancel is advertised as being able to program key fobs (which I need to do); however, I have not been able to figure out this process yet, which leads to one of my biggest frustrations with this device: the lack of accessible, clear instructions. Via piece-meal perusal of forums, youtube, and trial-and-error, I've been able to figure out how to get the Ancel to do most of what I need it to do, but, in some ways it is currently stumping me. I would welcome better technical support from the manufacturers. This would also likely allow me to have a better idea of the many helpful things I COULD be using it for (but don't realize it's capable of). I imagine a professional mechanic would be more familiar with these types of systems and better able to fully utilize the Ancel DS600, but the lack of adequate instructions is a big hindrance for me. All in all, it has been very helpful in my work with one of my vehicles, and if I can get it to function with the other, I am very hopeful that it will be similarly useful. I am the go-to amateur mechanic for many of my friends and family, so I anticipate it being helpful with many other projects where I'm in a bit over my head.

The Ancel Scanner is great in so many ways. Its definitely the best scanner that I have owned. It can do everything you need to find the problem with your vehicle. Here's a list of Pros: •28 reset functions •Easy to use •It's all system bidirectional obd 2 scanner with active test. •8 inch screen using Android 10.0 •Touch screen is nice, clear and responsive. • Used it on my husband's f150 truck and was able to find a bad fuel injector that needed to be replaced. Now the truck is back up and running smoothly. •Works with over 150 vehicles that is obd 2. •Comes packaged very well in a nice case. I've bought other scanners and they were not packaged as good as this one. •They offer free 2 year updates and 5 year warranty on the scanner. This company is awesome. Overall this scanner works great and offers so much. I didn't find any cons to it. It is a bit pricey, but I believe it is worth it. This scanner would be great for a mechanic. Very satisfied and would highly recommend it.

Well built tablet case, it is very robust. I tested it out on a Silverado, for some reason the "GM" module has very slow update speed on the live data, about 1 update per second. It doesn't matter if you have a single PID showing or 8, they always only update once a second. Switching over to the "EOBD", the universal module, has live data updating what looks like 3-5 times a second, very much acceptable for diagnosing bad sensors. The feedback button will never solve anything for you, so please ignore whatever "support" promise they give you. If the feature you needed doesn't work, you are out of luck, thats it. the feedback can be submitted but to the date none of my feedback, be it from LAUNCH, ANCEL, or Thinkcar has done anything. The scanner works well for the price if you compare them to what the tool trucks want to rip you off for though. The current rating is due to the lack of proper support, vehicle specific modules need higher update rate, and there is no proper access to the web browser to be able to access my repair programs. I had it at 3 stars but since the company did reach out and they do sound like they want to improve some of these points i brought it up to 4 stars. I didn't let this last point affect the rating but i wish they would unlock the tablet and let us install other programs, its currently running a heavily modified and controlled form of android.

So I have almost every brand scanner you can think off. I also work in an mechanic shop. This scanner is definitely a pro level tool. You can see many pids for various vehicle brands. The scanner does have bidirectional functions which is very important and a big plus. The amount of reset features is more than you will ever need. The 2 years update is awesome. This scanner is nice and responsive, well built and feels nice and rugged. Also know that you will never ever find one scanner that will work perfectly on every car out there. But this for the price is a great buy!

Probably one of the best skin tools I've ever had in my life it does basically everything especially on the new cars but even the older cars I was able to pull live data and look at graphs on a 96 it's 6 highly recommended if your a mechanic who needs a awsome oem style scan tool 5 star!
