Actually very pleased with this burner. I was expecting it to possibly be thin and flimsy based on some other reviews. Not at all. Feels very thick and sturdy. Very quiet at actual operational gas flow for a standard gas fireplace. Very good value here versus buying the name brand product.

Retired plumber here. The name “American gas logs” implies this product is American but it is manufactured in China, which would probably account for the difficulty in assembling it. As of this writing I have still not finished putting this hunk of (insert word here) because I’m so frustrated that I need to vent now. The thread pitch on the gas pan burner pipe does not match the thread pitch on the brass fittings or the cap (or the depth of the threads aren’t matching). The pitch, or depth is so close that assembly is barely doable but why should the purchaser have to deal with so much headache for such a simple part. It took me 30 minutes to even get it partially assembled. The threads on the pipe have some kind of paint or powder coating that I had to remove with paint remover to get the fittings to match better and it’s still a lousy fit -why isn’t this stuff checked at the factory?!! I’m using rector seal on the threads and I’m really hoping the fittings seal enough to avoid a gas leak. If I could have seen into the future I would have just welded my own gas pan from steel plate lying around my garage. It would have been built like a tank and would have been infinitely safer, however, I’ve got so much time invested in this piece of junk and I need to get it done asap so I’ll finish it and see how it works. I’ll update this review after I’ve thoroughly tested this thing, and if it seems too dicey I’m just going to send it back While I’m bagging on this lousy part I want to mention that given the simplicity of this part and its inferior quality you’d think it would/should cost less than half of what it does! Updated 12/12/25: got a refund and placed a safety concern with customer service. It’s now in the waste bin where it belongs ... show more

I went the cheap route for these inserts, and boy am I glad I did. Had it installed by a professional (I could have done it myself, but working with gas connections scare me) Gives a beautiful flame with fake logs and the burning ember effect is awesome.
