I had one of these for 4 years and it began a leak from the water gauge, however, the use within these 4 years was frequent and daily. I thought to get a different one, and did, but the difference in quality and ability to withstand our use, was readily apparent. This one has an heavy duty 3 prong plug with good quality cord as compared to a 2 prong plug (scary: water and no grounding) flimsy cord, difficulty fitting the kettle on the base, weird pour spout. So, i went back to the Amazon one with its good design and function! Maybe they could look into the water gauge leak... then it would be even better

In our house, we used a kettle on the gas stove to make tea - usually 2 liters every day. When we moved to a condo, the stove is electric (gas not available), and it takes much longer to boil water. This electric kettle boils the 1.7 liters in half the time. Yes, it's loud while it's heating. But that lets me go to another room and still know when the kettle finishes - it shuts off and goes silent. I like that better than the shriek of the whistling kettle on the stove.

I had originally found the 1L version of this kettle at a thrift store. I boiled some vinegar and cleaned the outside of it and have been using it for about 3 months. No issues at all. Boils the water quickly and no off tastes. I just bought the 1.7L. I thought I bought the same 1L version but my mistake. It was a little weird at first. I boiled some water and it didn't automatically shut off. I dumped it out and let it cool. As it was cooling, I noticed it didn't sit right as the cord was off center. I was able to kind of force the cord strait where it come out of the plastic heating part. It's acceptable now. When the kettle was cooled down, I filled it up and boiled the water again and this time it shut off. I did it one more time and it seems to be working good. It definitely does not heat up the water as quickly as the 1L but it's quick enough to where I don't mind. These are very good kettles and would recommend them.

I have been using this kettle for over a week. Overall, it is very good for the price. It's a little noisier than my previous kettle (another brand) and the lid does not open fully (you can see this in their picture of the product with the lid open). This made cleaning it slightly more difficult, but since I use R.O. water I will not be cleaning it often. You should always clean a product like this before using it for the first time. It brings the water to a full boil and will shut it off after about 10 seconds. The auto shutoff is a very important feature and you should not buy any kettle that does not have this feature.
