I bought this for my Hedgehog, not really realizing the full size of this and its HUGE!! but its awesome for our lil guy!! Has room for his wheel and both his little beds and litter box and just has all the right space!! We don't use the "steps" as hedgehogs don't see very well, so we use the upper green section for storage, but it is the perfect size for us!!! ... show more

I have two male piggies. They was babies when I got it but they still have plenty of room now that they are adults. At first they didn’t like the ramp but after a week they go use to it. Easy to put together and clean. Water bottle and bowl are holding fine after six months.

I got the large size cage for my baby dwarf bun and she loves it! I put the stairs on the outside and put the second level down as far as it will go. She loves snuggling with her blanket on the bottom and I put her bed on the top with some toys. Still has plenty of room for a small litter box, pellet bowl, and water bowl. Love the high sides so bun doesn’t spray outside of cage. It was very easy to assemble, didn’t even need the directions. Just took a few minutes ti put together. Very sturdy! ... show more

I still cannot believe the price for what you get. I have researched many a cage for guinea pigs over the years and for a great starter setup it cannot be beat. This setup should be a standard setup in the pet stores at this price point. I have had guinea pigs for many years and purchased the jumbo for two, 3 year old female guinea pigs, to be used as a traveling cage when out in our RV. They already have a guinea pig mega palace in our house but with two needed something that met space requirements. I like the bar construction and silver color as I have a chewer so it should be less noticeable when she marks them up but the bottom is high so hopefully she will leave most of them alone. I plan to use the deck as the feeding center as the large opening on the top will allow easy access for cleaning and for getting their food bowls, pellets, hay etc. in and out. Also the large opening at the top means that taking them in and out of the cage will stop them from getting their back paws caught in the bars as happens with other cages and smaller openings. Daily cleaning should be a breeze as well. I use cotton towels covered by fleece on the bottom and the deck will gets pee pads covered by standard guinea pig bedding. I have already tested their ability to negotiate the ramp and as reported by other reviews it is the one downside as it is very slick and mature gps are quite hesitate to use it even though mine are familiar with ramps covered in felt in their usual cage. Smaller gps will probably get used to it but mature gps can be a bit stubborn when it comes to new things and routines. I did modify the ramp using a piece of coroplast purchased from the local home improvement store (color is limited but much cheaper than online) wrapped it in felt and secured on the underside with double-sided carpet tape. Drilling holes at the top and bottom ….this is secured to to the ramp by zipties and does not move. It makes it much better and more solid for them and their weight. I also modified the upper deck area by measuring and cutting out coroplast which is attached to the 3 sides of the cage around the deck so they feel comfortable and hidden while eating. GPs generally will not eat out in the open and I did not want them to eat under the deck because they do fight over food or their special eating space. If they are being watched the dominant one will behave. This will also keep the bedding, their feces, hay etc. in the cage and not spilling thru the bars. This was also attached by using zipties. Finally I cut a piece of coroplast for the top over the deck again in the interest of their well being and being hidden while eating. In the future I plan to get a piece of cloudy Lexan for the top to make it brighter but had extra coroplast to use up. This was secured under the bars of the top again using zipties. Now I have a very functional deck which makes it easier for me to feed them, watch them and clean. I do not use hayracks as the gps just pull all the hay down and then burrow into it. If I did I would have had to cut one side of the coroplast shorter to allow for the hayrack and water bottle. I attached pictures of my modifications.     • Five Stars But Amazon Needs to Check Their Measurements
Amason has this product listed as 42" x 24" x 20". 42 x 24 would put the square inches for this animal cage at 1008 square inches, well above most competitors but in reality the measured dimensions at the longest dimensions are 40" x 21" x 18". In square inches that is only 840 square inches. Either the dimensions have always been off or the Chinese manufacturer is changing the specifications after the fact and not informing Amazon. The Chinese are known for increasing their profit margins by altering the original specifications called for but this is on Amazon to make sure their advertising is correct. This is measuring at the most liberal dimensions as the plastic base is tapered outward towards a lip where these measurements were done. The plastic base is only seven inches in height and the metal enclosure sitting on the lip adds an additional 11 inches in height. The product itself arrived with all pieces and no damage but when assembling it is important to make sure the entire metal frame is extended fully to fit into each of the respective corners. The assembly design is quite innovative and creates a quality product overall. To extend the metal frame fully make sure the swinging portions at the long ends are fully flush against the hooking apparatus. otherwise the ends of the metal frame will seem to be short of fitting into the corner pegs. I bought this for a hamster cage and the one inch spacing is too large to ensure no escapes but I used 1/4 inch hardware cloth to enclose the entire cage for a small animal like a hamster. Since there is a lip in the plastic portion (which would invite chewing by a hamster) the entire plastic base was also enclosed. With the doors creating separate portions a person has to plan out and cut several hardware cloth portions to make a nice tight fit. One could use zip ties to fasten the hardware cloth but I chose to use #10-24 x 3/8 machine screws with nuts and two #10 flat washers, one on each side. This creates a hardware setup that is much neater and secure with no zip ties ready to be chewed. The cleaning of this cage will be quite easy with the wide double doors on top and slightly smaller double doors in front. Each door has to be covered with the hardware cloth separately making the whole process more difficult and also requires planning taking place before undertaking. Overall quite pleased with the product except for the dimensions leaving the wrong impression for any would be buyer. ... show more
