Amazon's Awesome flash!
Size: 256GB
Review Image by James Mark Chan
amazingly good drive and out performs the equivalent Samsung and and SanDisk models in speed specifically the write. i like the versatility of having both USB A and USB C connectors and the build quality is great. also very affordable, for this capacity and has a handy loop for key chains. Would definitely get more if needed. ... show more

Great USB, I have bought two more.

Amazing USB at an amazing price. Works great, file transfer speed is great in a compact size. I bought two more of the Amazon Basics USB Flash Drives

Great USB drive from Amazon.
Size: 512GB
I have old USB drives lying around. They're old and slow. I wanted something up to date. I usually buy SanDisk or PNY, but I decided to buy this drive as I read the good reviews. What I like it's a dual drive. It can write either Type C or USB-A. The write speeds are quite fast when using Type C. I've had no problems with it. It fits great in my computer, TV and Android Box. Just like all these small USB flash drives, they can run warm to hot. It will not burn your hands, damage the drive itself or whatever you put the drive into. When you write something on the drive, it'll get very warm or a little hot. Afterward, it'll stay warm. I like the metal design. It's simple. It's durable, but I'm not going to throw it on the ground just to test it. I'm sure if I accidentally dropped it, it won't break. I don't have Apple devices. Just android phones, Android TV Boxes, tablets and a Windows pc machine. The drive works great. No issues when it comes to compatibility. For the price, I'm very happy with it. I'll buy more of these from Amazon basics in the future. ... show more

Seems to be fast and works with iphone adapter
Size: 128GB
I bought the 128 GB to try out. I've had it for a day and it seems to work great with a lightning adapter. I'm able to pull down videos and pictures very quickly. My PC was not working well to transfer items off my iphone 12 so I thought I was stuck. Throughout the day, I've been able to load groups of vids to upload to the device. I was able to transfer 2400 videos with no problem. ... show more

Solid, space as advertised, unreliable write speed.

I took it out of it's box, put it on my CachyOS laptop, and proceeded to test the write and read speeds with a 100MB sample. It kept a sustained read speed of ~458MB/s through the test. The write speed was very similar at ~440MB/sr, for about 5 seconds, then it dramatically dropped to around 93MB/s and remained there for the rest of the test. So, I decided to try with a 10MB sample instead, and then it kept a much better speed. same average on read, and about 380MB/s on read, although with many drops and bursts. Kind of crazy for such a small sample. This was tested on my USB-C port and a USB-A port, same results. Well, I decided to see what the drive offered in terms of speed, and found that the optimal transfer sample should be 32MB, and decided to try that instead. Well, the results were the same as with the 100MB sample. I started great at around 430MB/s write and read, only to drop to about 90MB/s on write after roughly 5 seconds. I'm hoping this drive doesn't just die overnight too, since I need it more for read than write (I'll write to it once), but I won't hold my breath. At 10 dollars less than the cheapest of the well-known solid brands with the same specs, can't really complain much. But Amazon could certainly look into improving quality control. I'll try other part of it in a couple of days when I start using it for what I bought it, and if the review is up, I'll update it then. I can say though, it does hold the storage space as advertised and it's tiny, which makes it extremely portable. I like that it's all metal, no plastic (other than a tiny rubber 'gasket-like' part on the USB-C end, which is a good idea), and pushing a 1GB file into it did not make it feel to hot, a bit warm, which is more than I can say about some 'premium' brands that force you to turn off your computer and wait 10 minutes before you can touch the drive. That was a very nice surprise. The retractability (or flippability? is that a word?) has a very satisfying click to it, not loud or anything, but you know you flipped it correctly. Being able to flip it from USB-C to USB-A is a nice to have feature too. ... show more

Great Quality and Inexpensive
Size: 256GB
Bought this because it had dual USB plugs and it was not that expensive. Have had good experiences with Amazon Basics. Was blown away when I received this. The entire case is metal and the USB-C plug is one piece with the case. Most thumb drives are flimsy and fail where the plug meets the case, eventually rendering them useless. This is very well built. The USB plug is not one piece, but sturdy as well. Loved it so much, I bought a second larger one. Great job Amazon! ... show more

She goes both ways, honey
Size: 128GB
USB-C on one side, USB-A on the other? Finally, a device that refuses to choose. I plugged her into my new laptop. She worked. I plugged her into my ancient office computer. She worked there too. No adapters. No drama. No awkward “sorry, wrong hole” situation. 128GB is plenty of space for my photos, documents, questionable downloads, and several files named “FINAL_v7_REAL_FINAL_USE_THIS_ONE.” She’s small, convenient, flexible, and compatible with almost everything. Basically everything I aspire to be. Five stars ... show more
