Description

Carry up to three bicycles on road trips or camping guards with the allen three bike hitch mounted carrier. A locking hitch insert, which fits 1 1/4 and 2 inch receiver hitches is easy to operate and super secure for your bikes. Just attach it to your hitch, then use the tie-down cradle system to individually secure and protect your bikes. The carry arms accommodate a wide range of frame sizes and designs, so you can carry your kid-size mountain bike or adult road bike with equal confidence. Some bicycles without a standard top tube may require an adaptor bar for installation.

Purchased as a back up rack for my car. I’m surprised at how much I like it. The rack part isn’t as long as our Thule rack but I mostly use it for one bike vs 3. This rack can be installed in less than 3 mins. There is a button that pops out after you slide it in (that’s what she said) to lock and then you twist the knob (that’s what she said) and it tightens into the rack into your hitch, no need to use a bolt like my Thule rack. This bike rack worked well for us with three large bikes, using a 1 1/4 inch hitch. It was relatively easy to hang the bikes, we hung them all facing one direction since it was easier to position the handlebars so they overlap each other. The bikes never came loose, and the rack itself was nice and stable on our trip across the country and back. I used some extra bungee cords with hooks to secure the bike frames so they wouldn't swing back and forth and bump into the rack or each other. It does move down so you can open the hatchback of an SUV, though with the bikes on it it'd be quite heavy and more difficult. Overall a great product for the price! ... show more

    • An easy way to get three bikes around

While I can't compare this rack to others in use as it is the first I've owned, I can say it works very well. It holds up to three bikes and does so very well; I've had up to about 100 lbs on it total at once. The straps, while simple, work well to hold your bikes. The plastic bumpers work well to prevent your bike frames from rubbing. The lock, with a wedge-style system, works well to secure the rack within your hitch tube tightly. The rack also has a pin that indexes your hitch tube to help hold the rack in so it's not just using the wedge design. The unit comes with two keys. The quick-pin mechanisms work very well to lower both the whole unit so you can open your trunk and to fold the rack's arms down. There is an included adapter that bolts onto the portion that goes into the hitch to allow it to be used on 2" hitches. A few things I wish the rack had: - Long straps to hold the bike wheels straight and secure the bottom portions to the rack - Some kind of padding on the main rack tube to prevent the bike closest to the car from rubbing it's frame on the metal as well as help space it away from the car some to prevent it's pedal from rubbing your bumper - I wish there was a hole somewhere on the main rack tube to run a long cable-type lock through it. This would allow you to lock your bikes (see Python bike locks) to the rack while going into stores etc. You could probably get a lock long enough to run it to your car's safety chain rings but it would need to be longer than necessary for this. I may eventually weld a ring on myself at some point to make up for this. All said this is an excellent rack and most if it's short comings listed above can be overcome with simple DIY solutions. I'd buy it again, this product seems to hit the sweet spot between quality and features available for the cost. ... show more

I don’t like that it doesn’t have a lock feature, and it has straps for three bikes, but no way you are getting three bikes on it comfortably. Other than that, I am pretty pleased with it. It does the job I need it for. Taking mine and my wife’s bikes to the park for a ride, it’s good for. I really like that the bike holder lets down in order for my tailgate to be opened. ... show more

I've had this for a year now. My purchase was a return. I love the locking feature. Very simple to set in hitch and lock. I only place 2 bikes on at a time. It has not been easy to place my small frame mt bike and my child's 24 inch Mt bike on but it can be done. I have road bikes and have no issue. I can only do 2 Mt bikes at a time. I believe 3 higher end (light)road bikes would be ok but otherwise would limit to 2 bikes. I don't think it's strong enough to hold bikes for long distance but recently purchased a women's hybrid and drove an hr. on the highway 50 miles hr. I was a nervous nelly but bike owner set it up to be very secure. The big thing I don't like is that there is no way to lock the bikes in unless you wrap a lock all around. Very minimal swaying if the bikes are closer to trunk and strapped. I've been concerned with it's durability lately but it could be because I now have new bikes. I may seek out a different rack or go back to my roof rack. ... show more
