I don’t know why I’m giving this product even one star it is a complete waste of money. It is a lie you need a freezer. You think you’d have this magical product that you’re wondering well, how does it work cause it sounds like I’m just putting water in a Fridge. Well that’s exactly what you’re doing, but there’s no magic happening. It’s just water and I wouldn’t buy it if I were you I’d run the other direction. It’s disappointing that it was nothing but a waste of time, but it does not work in the fridge.

I got this to keep in the refrigerator at work so I could have small ice to put in my water bottle. The lid does not stay on when I put the water in and the plastic cup floats up. Then you have one large circular piece of ice that is very difficult to get out of the bottom instead of a bunch of small half circles. I had to put something on the lid to keep it from floating up. This isn't good if you don't have a lot of space in your freezer. You put very little water in this thing. One cup at most.

We hate standard ice trays. They usually cheap, break easy, and take up a lot of space in the fridge. We wanted something vertical, durable, and cheap. This ice maker cup was cheap enough that I figured I would try it out. Overall, I like it a lot. It's basically just a synthetic, rubbery sleeve with a plastic cup that fits inside. Each "batch" of ice is enough for one person's drink, but the cup is designed to hold ice pieces from each batch, so you can keep making more. The cup has a lid, so you can stack things on top of it. The materials are fairly durable. We have not been gentle with it, but it hasn't cracked or frayed. The design creates shallow ice pieces, so they freeze quickly. I haven't timed it, but I know it's much quicker than other ice trays. The vertical design means it takes up less space. It's about the size of a fat tumbler, like you see at gas stations. Ours is usually sitting on top of a quart of ice cream. It doesn't have to sit perfectly flat. It is easy to use. Remove the cup and pour a small amount of water into the sleeve. Replace the cup and tilt the device while you plunge the cup to the bottom of the sleeve; excess water will drain out of the top. Once the cup is fully inserted, secure the lid on top of the sleeve, and there you go. The only drawback is that once it freezes, the cup can be difficult to remove. Also, the bottom of the sleeve tends to bulge slightly and collect water (hasn't been a huge issue). I usually whack the bottom of the sleeve on a counter, or run water around the outside briefly, to loosen the cup. Once the cup is out, it's super satisfying to squeeze the sleeve and hear the ice chips crackly and fall out. Dump the ice into the cup and repeat the process, being careful not to run water into the cup with the new ice. This product is perfect if you have a small freezer and you don't need a lot of ice. Maybe you just need a cup's worth for your morning iced coffee, or ice for your smoothie. It definitely will not produce enough ice for a party. Either way, I think this device is cheap enough that you can experiment with it. We have had ours for a little while now and have had no issues.

When it first arrived i wasn’t expecting it to be kinda big it’s easy to use as well once you fill it up put the lid back on and freeze it pull the plastic container out then squeeze to release all the ice. Only problem I had was filling it up it takes time and you have to go slow because the spaces are so tiny to fill with water Update: so once you release all the ice it’s only a half of a cup of ice what I do is pour that half into the clear container and refill the whole thing freeze it again and squeeze it and add the first bath of ice back into the blue container and that will give you a full cup of ice other then that I love it no problems there is times where you will accidentally pour water into the clear container I normally leave it it will freeze once it’s frozen I take a smal knife and crush it up into pieces and I add that to the blue container as will. Yes it's true what the other reviews said about the lid does not like to stay on. I did go ahead and buy the magnets but I didn't end up using them. I managed to get the lid to stay on and made the ice. Somehow in the pictures it looks like the cute nugget ice and I really just messed up buying this. The ice is flat on the bottom from being wrapped around the inside cylinder and then it's rounded thanks to the rounded bubble shape on the sides. So if I had just thought a bit more about it I would have realized this is not the shape/size of ice I'm looking for and skipped buying it. Not easy to use either. It's a pain to return now with Amazon since you have to make a trip to UPS store to ship. I miss just reusing the packaging and printing my own label. We have UPS pickup at both my work and my husbands. I'm trying to think of a way to repurpose this since it's kind of cute but I may just donate it. I'm just not sure anyone would know what it's used for.

I understand the frustration expressed in some comments - Releasing the ice isn't the simplest process. But once you get used to how it works it really works well. Straight from the freezer I roll the maker on my countertop with good force, 2-3 rotations. After that the plastic insert pulls out fairly easy. And it's really not practical to store the ice... it'll probably just freeze back together. But a single batch makes more than enough ice for an x-large glass of tea. I use mine daily.

This is a fun way to make ice. I just find it difficult to get the lid secured without spilling water. Once the lid is in place it is simple though, and very easy to break the ice free once it is frozen.
