  • FANTASTIC product- works very fast. Use HOT water.
Size: 4 Ounces
This product is simply AMAZING! I use it on both sterling silver and silver plated jewelry pieces- A LOT. It comes out perfect every time. **The key is to use HOT WATER!** This makes the color turn dark very quickly. You only need a small amount for several pieces. I use a plastic spoon to mix about a 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon to a small jar of HOT water (heated on the stove). Stir thoroughly. Quickly drop as many pieces of jewelry (or whatever metal) into the jar so that the water/mixture covers every piece completely. It's fine if the pieces overlap. Seal the jar with lid & gently shake. Do this a few times over a few minutes. The hotter the water is, the faster it darkens. **It oxidizes/ DARKENS QUICKLY** Like less than 2-3 minutes, so watch until desired color is achieved. Then rinse all pieces thoroughly & dry them. Experiment a little. You'll get the hang of it quickly. I like the contrast of the silver looking antiqued, with the brighter silver on the raised surfaces, leaving only the dark oxidized look in the recessed parts, so I do the following: After dried, I use a Dremel (any rotary tool will work) with polishing wheels & either jewelers rouge or any polishing compound for fine metals (Drixel brand is very good but there are many types). Put a very small amount of compound on the polishing wheel- follow simple product instructions. Then gently polish the piece to remove some of the darkness & reveal the silver underneath on the raised parts of piece, while the darkened parts remain in recesses. *Be sure to secure lid on the jar of Liver of Sulfur TIGHT to keep air out & product will last longer. *SMELLS like hard boiled eggs from the sulfur. Use ventilation. ... show more

  • Potent stuff, great value
Size: 4 Ounces
This is the first time I've used Liver of Sulfur, but compared to videos I've seen of people using it this stuff works remarkably well. Using the recommended mix ratio, I was able to almost completely blacken four copper wire-wrapped pendants (about 1-2" in diameter) in less than two minutes, with visible results almost instantaneously. The only thing I would say is that one might consider diluting the mixture a bit--at least until one knows what they're going for. I pulled my copper out after five minutes, despite instructions I'd read elsewhere to keep them in for ten...and even after five minutes, they were shedding bits of black crust and smudge at the touch. While some people might be looking for that level of patina, for me it was too much...and I imagine that a full ten minutes might even compromise the integrity of very fine wire work. Again, I'm not the most seasoned jewelry maker...just an observation. For a pro that knows what they want, I'd think this a great product due to the speed of the reaction. Combined with the value for the price, I'll definitely be buying this product again. ... show more

  • Smelly, but that's normal do not let that deter you
Size: 4 Ounces
I bought this product a while back due to the cost, and how much you got. The directions really aren't the best that come on the bottle. This is what I found out while doing research. You are supposed to use water heated up to around 140 degrees Fahrenheit, place it in a glass or plastic container, then add a smallish glob of the solution. Mix it together, once youve oxidized your piece you want to place it into a mix of baking soda water to neutralize the acidity. These are just basics of what I did but user discretion I suppose whatever works best for you. The smell is god awful, but that's to be expected. Be sure to use in a ventilated area as though this is a very obvious piece of advice I still mention DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use this in a non ventilated area. Other than that it worked amazingly and I will be buying more when I can 🥰 ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 4 Ounces
I used on copper & it worked beautifully! The raw brass not so much but I had read that was little tough. I tried all of the methods & tricks online but gave up will stick with copper for now. I "painted" it on after mixing with water therefore only mixed a very small amount which decreases the odor tremendously. Shipped fast (prime) no issues. ... show more

  • I like this better that rock LOS
Size: 4 Ounces
Very easy to use and will last me a long time. How dark it ends up is very much related to how strong you make the solution. You can go from a nice light tone to dark black for when I want to fill in etching and then steel wool it to tone it down. Takes some experimentation to find out what gets the results you want. ... show more

  • Works great on some brass but know your brass first.
Size: 4 Ounces
Some people have said that this does not work on brass and and given the product a lower review rating. To say that it does not work on brass is only partially true. Brass is an alloy of copper, zinc and sometimes even lead although lead is rare for brass items that you would want to put a patina on, not so rare on brass items meant to be machinable. It all depends on the ratios of the these components so you need to know your brass the copper content the brass you want to patina since since the copper content can vary from around 85% to lower than 60% ... show more

  • Not a squeeze bottle
Size: 4 Ounces
Ordered a squeeze bottle for a specific reason but got a little tub that was not a squeeze bottle. Still does what I need mostly but not what I ordered and didn't get the results I wanted.

  • Revive the patina of a vintage Hammered Copper Sink
Size: 4 Ounces
Worked like a charm! I first cleaned up the copper and brought to a relatively consistent shine. Make sure to mask off around work and adjacent areas. Smells like sulphur, so supply adequate ventillation.finishes nicely by reading the directions and buffing out with a fine bronze wool. It is my opinion that the Final finish appears best when you apply renaissance wax to protect and reach a maximum beauty of your patina. ... show more
