This is an "Air Scrubber Advanced Photocatalytic Oxidation cell". That's a mouthful, but it is a fancy way to say this cell creates a natural chemical reaction that keeps the air coming from your HVAVC vents clean, bacteria free, and healthy! I have a large two-story home with two heat pumps, and when my HVAC company first installed the Air Scrubber system, they had to cut into the air handler and mount everything in the right spot. The upfront cost was already high, so I was honestly dreading the idea of replacing the bulbs later. My HVAC company quoted me $300 just to change one bulb, which felt pretty outrageous. That pushed me to look on Amazon for the replacement myself, and I was relieved to find this compatible 9-inch Air Scrubber Advanced PCO replacement cell. The listing said it would be perfect for systems like the ActivTek InDuct 2000 and Air Scrubber Plus 1013A models. Swapping the bulb was very easy and didn't take long. As a homeowner that already had the system installed, this was just a simple maintenance DIY procedure, involving screws and a power drill, so it was no big deal- don't feel intimidated! All I had to do was remove the screws from the small cutout panel on the side of my air handler (the one created during the original install) and slide this new unit right into place. I always wear cotton gloves when handling bulbs, and I’d recommend doing the same here—the aluminum alloy mesh “fins” inside are delicate, and you don’t want oils from your hands getting on them. The construction of this replacement cell feels solid, and the honeycomb mesh design looks identical to the original high-density aluminum version my HVAC company used. I'm definitely very happy that I found this functional replacement online. It saved me a huge service bill, fit perfectly, and got my air scrubber system running at full strength again without any hassle. I think my last bulb lasted about three years, so hopefully I get the same service time out of this one as well! For anyone with an Air Scrubber, ActivTek 2000, or other compatible A1013-series units, this is absolutely worth buying when your "blue light" goes out, and it makes maintaining your HVAC system much more affordable. I ordered this to have on hand prior to installation of the housing unit in my air vent, but I would not hesitate to purchase another to have on hand because this is well-constructed, and looks like it will be easy to install. It was packaged perfectly and looks functional and high quality for the asking price. I will be really excited to get this fully installed because we bought a house and learned the previous owner had 5 large dogs. No matter how much we deep clean carpets and spray odor neutralizer, we battle doggy smelling air. We also have 2 dogs, so air care is an ongoing need. Until we can rip all the carpets in the house out, this will provide peace of mind that our air is being cleaned and refreshed. Thankful to review this item for Amazon Vine.

My HVAC serviceman told me I could replace this myself much cheaper than he could. He was right. This high quality replacement unit is much more affordable and the effort to install it was minimal. I shut off my heating system and unplugged the air scrubber unit before removing the 4 nuts and extracting the unit from the air duct. Two screws hold the light to the air scrubber housing. This replacement light was identical to the one that had been installed when I bought the air scrubber. The bulb assembly can only be installed the one way that lets the air flowing in the duct flow through the light fixture, but you need to verify the orientation of the pins on the light with the holes in the socket and ensure that there is a tight fit when the bulb is in place. Reinstallation was easy. The new light works great with no ozone smell that you get with some lights. If you have an air scrubber, replacing the old light with this item is a great cost saver.

This 1-pack offers a substantial saving over the official brand, without sacrificing performance. Installation and Compatibility (5/5) Perfect Fit: The 9-inch cell and UV bulb were a direct, plug-and-play replacement for my existing unit. The socket alignment and cell depth were precise. Easy Swap: Installation took less than 5 minutes—just slide the old one out and slide the new one in. No tools were needed beyond accessing the air handler panel.
