  • This stuff is to dye for!!
Color: 116 Purple Rage Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 2)
TL,DR: this stuff is legit, works on unbleached (but lightened) hair, it’s an alcohol-free aloe vera based formula, AND you get two bottles for the price of one!! That’s right — 2 for 1! My light brown hair asked for a colorful makeover. The last time I had dyed it was half a decade ago, and before then I kept going back and forth between carrot-top and tomatohead. I figured this time, should I embody a beetroot? Challenged accepted! And thus began this mission. Because my hair cannot handle bleach, I researched what is the best way to transform unbleached hair to purple. The first step was to lighten the hair a shade or two. I stumbled upon a variety of natural methods, and ended up doing a homemade paste of sorts using 3% hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and honey, leaving it on for 30 minutes before washing. I applied it twice — waited about two weeks between application. It made my hair a dark orangey copper the first time, then slightly more golden the second time. Nostalgia almost convinced me to stay with that color, but no… The mission was to get that bloody beetroot! The next step was finding a dye that works on unbleached hair. I had used “Wildfire” flavored Manic Panic the last time I dyed my hair, to obtain that spicy candy red. It didn’t let me down before, so why not go with that brand again, right? Ha! Right. It was quite the letdown. The concoction was more like a color depositing conditioner that didn’t deposit any color. Such deception… but! My determination superseded that feeling, so back to the drawing board I went. After researching legit semi-permanent dyes, I stumbled upon a few, one of them being Adore. I was leaning towards Arctic Fox at first, but after reading almost all the Amazon reviews on this product, I opted for their Purple Rage and Truly Red. I first applied the purple to most of my hair, then applied red to the bottom portion, the bangs, and some of the front strands of hair. I twisted each portion of hair like a cinnamon bun, covered them with a plastic cap, and “put them in the oven” by wrapping a heating pad around the cap (one review suggested to apply heat and mentioned using the heating pad instead of a hairdryer). Because I didn’t want to relive the panic Manic Panic gave me, I left the dyes on for about four hours to ensure proper color absorption. I then unwrapped and uncoiled the hair and washed the dyes out with only conditioner and not so warm but not cold water. And… As you can see from the photos, this stuff really works! To my surprise, the dyes actually didn’t leave my bathtub looking like the aftermath of La Batalla del Vino. The purple dye did leave a few small streaks, but they came off completely right after I cleaned the tub. Also, I didn’t realize at first, but this dye has no alcohol! I avoid any and every hair product with any variation of alcohol in it. My hair appreciates sobriety and hydration. The aloe vera in this formula provides the kind of hydration my hair unexpectically needed from a hair dye. It’s also worth mentioning the package comes with two bottles of dye for the price of one — same size bottle as Arctic Fox, but at half the cost! In this economy, that is most definitely a win. I ended up with four bottles altogether. Just one bottle of each color sufficed. Even after using so much of the one bottle of purple dye, I still had plenty left over. I put some in a separate bottle, added conditioner, mixed them up, and did the same in another bottle with the red. Although it ended up looking like a female Magneto and not so much a beetroot, I’d still consider this mission accomplished! I’m dyeing to try out other colors when I bluelieve I’m redy — maybe in another five years, maybe sooner! So, yeah… 10/10 would recommend! ... show more

  • Great Brand Great Colors
Color: 113 African Violet Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 2)
Ginger Color Review: For some reason, Amazon isn’t letting me place a review for my last purchased bottle of Adore Ginger Hair Color, so…I will just have to put it here. For years i have been eye balling this color and finally i have decided to get it and use it alone by itself. Most people tend to get this color and use it as a mix in with other colors and I really wonder why because this color is absolutely stunning when used on it’s own! I’m now a red head/ginger but this color when put on top of a gold or dark golden base looks like it’s a glowing light/mild orange color. The color actually looks like it glows! I kid you not. I have gotten so many compliments on the color and for me as well using this color. From women and men. I was told that i was pretty twice within 2 days by 2 different ladies so far, with this color. This color is very eye catching indoors as well as in the sunlight and outdoors. I can’t believe how many compliments I get with this color. I believe I will stay this color for awhile. However, i intend to go White in the future. I want to look like a Targaryen eventually. Lol Those that are GOT fans know exactly what I i mean. 😊 So, coming from black/dark brown hair color, i thought trying this color was the perfect time to do so since my ultimate goal color is Targaryen white/silver. I am so glad i tried this color on its own. It’s highly impressive looking and definitely the color you need if you want to stand out. It’s definitely one of my favorite colors in the Adore color line. Yes, i do and would recommend this color and brand of dye to family and friends. The color stays put well. If you want to make it a little more permanent color, just use it in dry hair instead of the wet hair as it states on the bottle’s directions. Dry and clean hair. If you want the semi permanent effect, just use on wet shampooed hair or follow the directions that are on the bottles. I always do the permanent color way. The color does stain a lot of things so you will want to be careful with spilling it on surfaces and clothing. It does seem to come up good when stained on skin. On surfaces and fabrics it’s virtually impossible to get it off but you might want to try using Acetone on surfaces to see if it cleans up some. I have long thick wavy waist length hair so i used about 14 bottles. I bought 12 bottles and it wasn’t enough so i had to buy 2 more. The bottles are little that’s the inly thing i hate about this product. They don’t accommodate those with longer than neck length hair. ... show more

  • Beautiful color, easy application, great value
Color: 116 Purple Rage Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I love this brand of hair dye! I love that there is no mixing, just squeeze right out of the tube and apply directly. The color comes out vibrant and beautiful every time. I can get 2-3 uses out of each bottle, depending how long my hair is and how many colors I'm using on my hair at once. You can mix color so easily to get a multi-hued effect. It's the least messy and lasts So long despite being semi permanent! Much healthier for your hair, smells nice too, continues to look nice when fading. I used to always use permanent dye but it damaged my hair a lot especially if changing colors frequently. This is So much better, no chance of damage. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • This stuff beats out all other products
Color: 150 Platinum Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 3)
I’ve been using this product in this color for a long time as a toner for blonde balayage. I have tried almost all professional Demi’s and semi’s along with permanent. I have to say this beats those out because it shines the hair, adds an amazing tone (platinum comes out silvery ash on blonde and a darker blonde ash on brassier orange) and lasts about a month. Honestly most non semi dyes last a month or so too before they start washing out so it’s worth it to use this once a month for color and shine and it is easy to use. Leave on a bit longer like 45. Hair is completely refreshed. Was using shades EQ since going blonder and hair kept getting dryer and more tangled and color washed out after a few weeks. Literally can’t beat this product by Adore. You won’t regret it ... show more
