  • Faster boots and better performance
I bought one of these locally for my aging HP Probook 6550b about 10 months ago. I removed the little-used optical drive and moved the existing SATA hard drive to that bay, and put this ssd in the regular drive bay to be used as the boot drive for my Mageia 7 Linux system. Mageia 7 loves it. The setup has worked flawlessly, greatly reducing boot times and increasing overall performance. Update Jan 2022: This drive worked fine in my laptop, but after a year it developed a problem: It was too small. I replaced it with a 480Gb drive from another manufacturer, which is working just fine. I would have had no problem with buying another of these, only larger, but I happened to find an unbeatable deal on the other one. I used this drive with a case as an external drive, where it continued to work well, but now I am about to install it into a relative's desktop Linux PC, to replace a now-too-small ssd in that one. Considering what my relative uses his PC for, I have no reason to think that this ssd won't work well there for several years. ... show more

  • Wished I could give a negative 100 stars
I am a retailer of these drives. Or was. Lucky to still be in business at all. Almost evey single one of these drives failed between six months to 1.5 years. Most start with unstable speeds. If you lucky you catch it then before it starts corrupting data. Worst case ones lose data or totally die. I have sold dozens of not hundreds and have had the super painful experience of doing free upgrades for customers for over a year now. ADATA claims it's only the 240GB one that has the issue but I have has 120s and 480s fail as well. Not as many as the 240s, but I also sold less of those. ... show more
