  • Outstanding filter
Thos filter is really good at doing it's job. Easy set up and maintenance and virtually silent. Highly recommend.

  • Quiet and effective
Wow. Simply amazing. I purchased this product because I had previously purchased an "all in one" 10 gallon fish tank that came with filter. However, the filter was EXTREMELY loud with a constant "bzzzzzz" noise. It was also shaking the glass wall to my tank and possibly disturbing my pour fish. The water flow was also fairly strong and couldn't be adjusted. This tank, however, has adjustable water flow. It is also VERY quiet with minimal "buzzing" sounds. No more glass vibration. I highly recommend for anyone wanting to reduce noise and have a higher quality tank. ... show more

  • One of the best filters for a 5 gallon tank
TLDR: It turns down low enough for a betta in a 5 gallon tank. The lids on this newer redesign don't rattle, and the filter is extremely quiet. filter media is high quality and easily replaceable. Probably one of the best filters for a 5 gallon tank that you can buy in my limited experience. If you google around for a filter for a smaller aquarium you'll likely find a few reviews of this. I have a 5 gallon tank and a betta and needed something that could be turned down enough so that the betta wasn't being blown around. I've tried a few filters, a top fin, a marina s10, and then this one. So far this fluval is the best. It's quiet, if the house is dead silent I can hear it, but if my refrigerator is running and I'm sitting next to the aquarium I cant hear the filter. It can be turned down low enough that my betta is comfortable. Some of the newer reviews nit pick at the fact that you have to take the lid off to adjust the flow. It's truly not any kind of trouble. Just lift the lid, move the lever, done. The filter media is a big step up from the other two filters, and the overflow protection is a nice feature. A lot of reviews say the lid rattles on the old ones. This new design negates that. The lid fits down in with a little tension on the sides. It doesn't sit on top, so it can no longer rattle. Overall if you want a good solid filter, with a reputable company behind it, a good warranty, and quality filter media, this is a solid choice. ... show more

  • Works great, till the motor burns itself out. Literally.
Worked great until i woke up and it had completely dried itself overnight and almost blew up the motor. I’m lucky it didn’t catch fire and i check my equipment regularly. And yes i only operate within the manual guidelines. I checked it before bed (this was a week after buying) and it was operating normally. When i woke up nothing was coming out of my filter, it was still plugged in so i immediately unplugged it. When i checked the components nothing was clogged. I was curious why it stopped running so when i checked he motor itself, it was so hot, it burned my hand to the touch. When i checked my fish cameras it shows the filter slowing down over a few hours and eventually stop pushing water altogether. I’m not sure why this would happen so suddenly besides fault equipment. Also sucks that i have to rebuy the entire unit again and there’s no replacement motor i can buy. I have also had issues with my A30 which really sucks because i want to love this filter please fix these motors!! I had to throw it away otherwise id include pictures. I barely had it a week before i had to chuck the motor. I found a replacement motor off some obscure website and i’m hoping that will work with the housing… ... show more

  • Best Filter in Market.
Very high quality easy to clean, makes no noise at all. Easy to adjust water flow. One pointer to prime pump turn inlet pipe until it’s completely into motor/pump input go back and forth a few times using all suction from pump to start a siphon. What I really love is Filter is completely made in Italy no Chi Com. I bought the smallest size for a Betta Tank. The water flowing onto top of water does pull air into water if the drop is large enough. No need for air pump. ... show more

  • Best for beginners
It's fluval! You can't go wrong with one of these. I got it at a decent discount to set up in my nano tank. I also use a 70 in a turtle tank. Both work really well. I recommend buying some filter floss before hand. The prepackaged filter materials aren't the best, but that's the case for most prepackaged filter material. These filters run really silent if you keep your tank topped up. Mine is so quiet I can hear my betta munch on his pellets (and only when the AC fan isn't running at my house, its so loud). If you're a first time fishtank owner or even a seasoned one, this is the filter you need for minimal headaches. I've used fluval for years, these things last. I gave away a fluval filter that's about 7 years old now that is still running in my friends tank. Ive never experienced a leak, and it keeps my water pristine. My fish and turtle appreciate the clear water and stable parameters. Im just now dabbing in sponge filters in my 2nd nano, and I'm about to make the switch to fluval. ... show more

  • American outlet! Great pump!
If you look at the bad reviews, it's mainly people talking about the euro plug on the pump. If you look at the dates, they're all around the same date. I think around September of 2024 if I remember correctly. They must have got the shipment messed up back then because as of September 2025, they're all US outlets! No need to worry about getting the wrong outlet or buying a converter. Other than that, it's a great filter! Very quite. I've heard people mention their lid rattles but mine hasn't. I can't hear it all. Moves water excellently and ya, I highly recommend. You can't go wrong using this filter on your small aquarium. Comes with all the filter media you need. The only thing to note is that, because of the way it's designed, it won't prime its self. If the power goes out or something happens that makes the pump lose it's water, you'll have to refill it to get it to start working again. This should hopefully be very rare of course but it's good to know, just in case. ... show more
