I am pleased with the thickness. I bought two just in case. Now I have extra extra cushion. I tried to tear it apart with my fingers to see the quality and it is very tough couldn't even do it. Based on our searches and reviews of similar pads, this one is the thickest we could find and way cheaper then foam padding or using 2 tons of sand for our pool base. The felt is thick and definitely makes walking on the pool bottom comfortable and easy on your feet. It cannot be torn by hand and if you had to cut it you would need more than the kitchen scissors. The pad size of 12x24’ is more than enough for an Intex pool. When the pool is centered correctly there is still plenty of felt left underneath. We skipped sand for compacted dirt/clay, pool tarp and then the felt pad.

This was OK. It stayed in place well with the ground stakes we used and it is still on the ground for this season. It has several plants growing through it though, and if you are looking for a cushion effect you will be disappointed.

Writing a review after 2 years of use. This is heavy felt. Can't tear it or rip it. There are a few negative reviews about thickness or padding. Im not sure why. This is not an air mattres. It protects against any small hard objects under your pool to protect your liner. It is padding against the hard ground, sand etc. and makes the bottom of the pool feel smooth. We had to take our pool down after 2 years of use due to pool failure from a hard freeze. The padding under the pool looked like it did the day it was installed. I have no doubt it would last for many more years based on the looks. Even the part not under the pool that was covered by decorative rock still looked good and wasnt rotten or deteriorated. We are putting a new pool up and ordering this same exact same brand of pad. The only reason for not reusing the pad we have is that we had to remove it to to address some ground issues before the new pool is set. Because we removed the pad, it got rock and dirt all over it. I dont want to risk a new liner on a pad that is covered in debris. When installing it, make sure your ground is perfect, lay down weed barrier and put the pad on top of the weed barrier. This makes it easier to adjust pad as needed and it is an extra barrier against weeds, grass etc. It also keeps the felt from picking up any debris during the install.
