The original motor had plastic gears that broke off. The replacement 7283489 has metal gears and the plastic cam had to be replaced with this part. The fit is tight on the water softener post. I didn't try to push it all the way on, but enough so the metal frame would be flush with the screw mounts. It fits and works. ... show more
