I actually love this. If you're realistic about what you're getting for the price, then it's not a bad little setup. It's true that the design/access isn't ideal, but I just put a hinge on the lid and made access that way. I am using it as a chick brooder and it has worked perfect and really made clean-up a breeze. I did modify the legs to lift it up a little higher for storage underneath and just easier reaching in, but there was nothing wrong with the way it was built; just a personal preference. ... show more

I knew when I bought this I would need to modify it, it’s a really bad design. I assembled as directed (with some extra help from liquid nails to keep it together), but didn’t screw down the roof, instead I installed hinges so I could access the whole hutch. The media could not be loaded. For the price of this cage, I think it is a a very well product. Obviously it is a cheaper wood and probably not as long term weather proof, however, using it in our garage is perfect.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CAGE. Poorly designed. Dowl holes are on the wrong side putting both doors accessing the smaller compartment. When we tried to move the cage it wobbled. I just wasted money on a cage that I would have to pay more money to return. I hope this saves at least one person the grief.

We bought this cage for our cavies. At first we thought this is a nice. As time went on the waste leaked out onto the floor outside the cage. They also are chewing it up. The quality is not good. Especially for these types of animals. It was easy to build, convenient doors and openings to get into the cage. The tray just doesn’t work for the amount of waste they produce and way to short. Directions are weak but it’s simple enough. If you put it together the way it shows you won’t be able to reach the far side of the cage. I turned the front upside down. Moved the mesh bottom support and flipped the lock mechanism. I’m putting quail in it. This set up leaves a mesh front along the bottom to keep them from running out. It’s a good cage.
