I've been buying from Amazon for years and this fireplace may be the best value yet. Here's why I think it's so good: 1. Packed carefully with protective Styrofoam and bubble wrap - so it arrived undamaged, unscratched, and easy to unpack. 2. Made of quality materials. The wood is solid, and not like flimsy fiberboard. The finish is smooth and without blemishes. Each wood item is labeled with both a number and an arrow to show which side should go up. 3. It was easy to assemble, with clear pictures and step-by-step instructions. I'm not especially handy, but I did in in about an hour - maybe two. 4. The assembly materials- the screws and brackets - are well made and fit easily in the pre-drilled screw holes. 5. It comes in two boxes. One box contains the wood, self-standing frame. The other box contains the electric firebox insert and the remote (which came with a battery). The insert is self-contained and was easy to fit in, then secure in predrilled holes with four small screws. 6. The remote lets you use or adjust the heat or the flame independently. 7. It produces heat quickly (if you want heat), and I think the flame is realistic. Bottom line: this is well worth the money and I'm really glad I purchased it. ... show more

I purchased the white finish and love the way it looks in my living room. It was easy to put together and the remote makes it easy to turn on or off. The only con is that the flames are very yellowish. I was thinking some oranges and reds, but it's not a huge deal. Mine came in two packages, not on the same day.
