This is a very beautiful fireplace heater! It is made out of real wood and once it is put together it is real solid! This is a high quality fireplace! The remote has temperature control, fire intensity control, and the log burning intensity control and looks great in our house! It heats really well.

After having this for only 2 years this coming September. It gives you the code of 88 and beeps constantly. It overheats. So now we have a $500.00 beautiful fireplace that does not work! 😡But I decided to call the company directly and they are going to send us a new insert at NO cost so they made it right! Thank you! Wellllllllll............ We were very pleased with the quality of the wood pieces... very nice real wood veneer and real wood mouldings, beautiful stain and finish. I was pleasantly surprised. For the quality and appearance and comfort, I give it 5 stars. But if there was a separate rating for assembly I would give it about a 3. The pieces fit together with considerable effort - it took a lot of time to get right. First of all they had parts 3 and 4 numbering reversed... the two sides... after considerable head scratching we realized they need to be reversed to fit 2 to 4, and 3 to 5. Then the frame went together correctly. All other numbering was correct. The wood dowel system was poor - the holes were too loose (credit the particle board for that) and so parts wobbled terribly, even after securing the questionable cam-locks. We wrapped a little duct tape around each wood dowel, trial and error and very time consuming, so that the dowels fit the holes snugly. I say "questionable cam-locks" because the cams were also loose in the holes and it was very tricky to line up the little studs so they fit into the cam-locks to lock down in place. The little barrels that mate to the allen screws were even worse. We wound up fitting tiny little 3/32" wide strips of duct tape to the barrels so they were reasonably snug in the holes and line up ok. Some written word instructions would have been nice to supplement the pictures... with little cautions like "be sure to line up the studs and allen bolt barrels *first* with an extra stud/bolt before trying to fit pieces together". That saves a lot of grief. Another aggravation was the top piece. The flat part is mated to the crown moldings at the factory. This is done professionally with angled or "toe-nail" style screws from the underside, and looks great. The trouble is that the holes thru the inside piece line up directly with the recessed slots for the angled screws. So the screws provided were nowhere near long enough, and it would be dangerous to use longer ones to screw into those recesses or it could penetrate thru the front finished part. We drilled different holes from the inside an inch away from the recesses to get a good surface to screw into. Very careless of the manufacturer. The assembly diagram shows two retainer strips which I suppose are designed to hold the fireplace unit flush against the wood frame work from the inside. These were not included in either box. I was left to fashion something on my own. These were the only missing pieces... could have been worse. All in all, it looks very nice after finally completed. It took two of us close to 4 hours to assemble, and I am a pretty competent handyman kind of guy. I would NOT recommend you try this alone. Takes one person to hold things and the other to apply screws, cam-lock studs, allen bolts, etc. ... show more

Overall, I have been enjoying this fireplace. The materials used, however, leave a little to be desired and it doesn’t look as nice as I thought it would. More importantly, the flame action isn’t very realistic, but it’s probably as good as you get at this price point. Assembly took about an hour, by an experienced handyman, but there was a lot of chatting throughout, so could probably be done faster. Remote control works fine and is easy to use. If I were to buy another fireplace, I’d spend (a lot) more money to get a more realistic one; I’m hooked on the electric fireplaces! ... show more
