It is possible to manage without this tool, and this tool isn't good for much else then holding a spring stretched. That said, it definitely making the job easier, so if you open washing machines often, then this tool is recommended.

Works on LG front load washer on inner and outer spring installation just no instructions on how to use. Installing the outer spring is super easy, the inner one is a bit of a challenge. Just make sure the seal is properly seated, install tool on spring and expand spring with tool and begin to work it into the seal groove, you have to push the spring clamp into the groove starting 180 degrees from spring. ... show more

It is almost impossible to put the metal ring back without this tool. Save a lot of time and frustration with this tool. PS. It is a lot bigger that I was expecting so make sure you have a place to storage.

I’ve taken the Walker for spring off without this till and it was a pain, with this till it was much easier. If you need to work on a front loading washer. This is highly recommended

    • Spend the money and buy it.... very, very, very challenging to remove spring clip without it.
We have an LG Washer. A few years ago the large rubber door seal got a tear in it, and I figured with my "skill" I could get the large spring clip off with basic hand tools to remove and replace the rubber seal. I tried every truck in the book, but it took me hours and lots of cussing to get the clip off and back on. This year, the door close sensor was acting up, and to get to it you have to partially peel back the rubber seal - but you have to take the spring clip completely off. I purchased this tool and am glad I did. So easy - a few seconds to get the spring clip off, and a few seconds to reinstall. You may only need / use this once in your life, but you will be glad you have it. I think the official LG version runs $50, but this at $12-15 works great. ... show more
