Impressive sound. Recommended.
Great sound on the patio. My set-up is driven by an M1 amp and Fosi Sub-Amp. Together these amps provide the necessary cross-over controls to assure the right signals get to the sub so the sound is not muddy. Great power, reliable. Easy to connect. I would prefer that it had a small enclosure under the base to protect the connections instead of loose wires hanging out of the bottom, but it is passible. You can tighten the wires up with twist on connectors and seal with electric tape to weather proof. It has been out in the wind and rain this summer (placed under a small side table along the wall of the house) with no issues. Great outdoor sub in this price range. ... show more

Great Subwoofers, I purchased a second.
I have had one of these installed for the last 6 years and it has performed very well. It is hooked to one of the older Sonos Connect amps via an inexpensive fosi subwoofer amps also from Amazon. This amp is paired with some of the Dayton audio 6.5 inch outdoor speakers. It is all contained within a large flower bed about 45 ft from the end of our pool. It provided really good coverage, but I recently added a second subwoofer and two 4 inch Dayton audio speakers to the other end of the pool. The base is really stunning. You could definitely buy more expensive outdoor subwoofers, but these are dependable, rugged, sound great, and are easy on the budget. ... show more

Great sub but not a powered sub!
First of all, this is not a powered subwoofer as described. You can’t switch from powered to passive. There is no built in amplifier. That’s all a lie! Now, with that out of the way, let’s get to the sub. It is immaculately made. Clean, beautiful lines and grooves add a certain panache to this down-firing sub. It’s only 12“ tall and connects to your amp via a pair of sheathed wires. The bass is smooth, deep, mellow a perfect companion to the Polk Atriums on the deck. There are two mounting holes to screw the sub onto the deck and, in addition, there’s a built- in eyebolt to which you can attach a cable or lock. An excellent sub that delivers the bass at a decent price. There was no need to lie and add features it doesn’t have. Amazing boost to the sound quality!
I had a set of Polk Audio Atrium 8 Outdoor speakers connected to a Fosi Audio Bluetooth Subwoofer Amplifier 2.1, BT30D Pro Subwoofer Amp with TPA3255 Chips for my deck. I just had the speakers hooked up without the Dayton sub. Sound was good, but was still missing that punch in the low end. I expected better from the Atrium's. I thought that since I have the output on the amp, I'll get this sub to see what difference it makes. AMAZING! This was a crazy huge difference in the sound quality. The Atrium 8's are high-end and deliver good bass. However, the deep punch of this sub provided made the sound system go from decent to crazy good. My wife was drawn out of the house to hear it and while she doesn't really care so much for sound quality, the smile that grew on her face was all I needed to see. We both were instantly feeling like we needed to start dancing. I mean it was awesome. I've used it all summer and it's now winter in the Chicago area. Looking to see how it holds up outside over the winter and will add to this review if it doesn't survive. ... show more

Perfect addition to my backyard sound system!
I didn't realize how much of a difference an outdoor sub would make until I installed this beast. I have 3 pairs of speakers in my back yard covering a 40'x45' (1800 sq ft) area, and while they sound fine there was very little base in the music. I installed this sub on our back porch near one of the corners of the yard, and the difference was instant. I am using a small subwoofer amp to drive it, and after tuning the sub volume I am very happy with the results! I am using an Echo Dot as the music source to a receiver that then feeds the speakers and output to the sub amplifier, and I can voice control the music and volume via the Echo Dot. Some audiophiles may snub their noses at that, but for an outdoor sound stage it works really well. The construction of the subwoofer is very solid, and it is smaller than I had envisioned. You could easily place it under a corner table of your patio furniture. Mine is under the roof of the porch so it is out of direct weather exposure, but it is within a foot of the edge so wind could easily push rain onto it. I feel confident that it will last a long time and provide years of enjoyment to our backyard listening experience. I definitely recommend this subwoofer! ... show more

Not enough
Not very loud, it adds a bit of bass, but not enough for the price in my opinion, Also, I don’t know if it’s due to my amp, but same amp can make other subs rumble

Delivers what you have been missing
I bought this sub back in 2019 and delayed a review until I could fully assess product durability. It is powered a Dayton Audio SA2320 Amp and used in a 18' x 30' patio - so it s not on all the time nor does it get the same workout that would come from use in a home theater passive sub. Before I committed to this sub I looked at several - Niles sub (as it was buried underground), the OSD (both above and below ground), Monoprice, and few of the "Rock" subs. For the record, my main outdoor speakers are a pair of Niles (over 10 years going now) and I really wanted to go with a Niles sub. But after hours of pouring over specs, reviews etc. I finally landed on the Dayton Audio. I love it - does everything I had hoped for, is small enough to not be obtrusive, and delivers the low end that my mains can't. Highly recommend - would definitely buy again. **UPDATE** - it is now 2022 and it is back in the patio still kickin' it! ... show more

Great Bass response and value
Added one Dayton IOSUB to my backyard outdoor kitchen THAT INCLUDED Bose speakers. What a difference it made!! Added much needed bass and easy to integrate.. I bought a Fosi MO3 to power it …. After a week of listening,, I bought another one for my Firepit area on back of property. Love them. Especially for the Value!! Compare to Pyle or OSD .. these are excellent choice. Amazon you Need to get more in stock as I want to add more to other area of property ... show more
