Indigo Powder For Hair Indigo powder dye contains a bluish pigment that comes from the leaves of plants known as Indigofera Tinctoria. This plant is grown in a tropical environment. Indigo Powder smells like fresh peas; when mixed with water, it smells more like nature - like a freshly mowed lawn. When used in combination with henna on hair, it can produce light brown, medium brown, dark brown, and jet black hair colors. It works best with henna. When mixed with luke warm water, it turns into pudding like consistency to be used on hair. Triple sifted powder for the smoothest paste

I’ve used this indigo powder after my henna treatments several times and it performs exactly as expected. It provides a rich, natural color and excellent coverage without the use of harsh chemicals. I usually blend it with 1 tbsp of salt to help the indigo and coffee (instead of water) to deepen the color.     • Real henna (lawsonia inermis) treatment and then using indigo = black hair dye for someone who is allergic to PPD

We used this after a henna treatment to color hair black. It works great! My daughter was using "chemical" hair dye which didn't have PPD (or any of its many alternate names listed) on the box, but after the second treatment, her ears, sides of her face and eyelids were badly swollen. I was shocked, since I thought something else in it must have been the cause. After hours of searching, we found that the ingredients did include PPD, but manufacturers aren't required to list it. Even a hairdresser who offered an alternative coloring said that what they use in their salon doesn't contain PPD, but we searched online for information on the product and found that it does, as well. Using henna and then indigo has worked great! It blended in with the already black hair, and we've done many treatments with no problems/reactions. This has allowed her to keep having the hair color she wanted without risking her looks (people have lost hair and been scarred from reactions), health or life. I think PPD is horrible and should be banned; I don't understand why AT LEAST they aren't required to put an obvious warning label on the box. They don't even have to list it though. I just read it's also in some eye liners and other cosmetics; that explains why she's been getting swollen eyelids, I imagine. It's daft a consumer should have to do hours of research to see when awful chemicals like this are in everyday beauty products. ... show more

It’s the 4th time Im purchasing this product. The last two times I have used it has given me a strong headache. I am thinking of giving up henna hair dying because of this bad reaction.

Definitely worked at turning my hair black using the 2 step process after henna, but I’ve definitely had a bad reaction where my scalp has been itching badly ever since I’ve even developed a few pimple like bumps on my scalp that are also itching. It’s been 2 weeks and the itching has hit stopped I’ve washed my hair many times since. Smh my opinion is to test a small portion on nape of your neck to make sure you’re not allergic. ... show more
