  • Really Nice Upgrade Over My Cheap Beginner Paddle
Color: Blue Lens Color: 2025 | Max (All-Around Paddle)
About 3 months ago, I got asked by a good friend and his daughter if I wanted to go play pickleball. Everything I had heard about it was that the "sport" was for old people. Well, since I'm old, I agreed to give it a shot with a borrowed paddle. When I do something new I tend to become obsessed with it and get hyper-focused and this was no different. I quickly got hooked on the sport (it's fun for all ages, btw lol) and decided it was time to invest in something that could grow with me. After some research and asking around, I landed on the this paddle, and I am pretty glad I did. This paddle has actually made such a difference in how I play compared to the cheap beginner paddle I started out on. The carbon fiber face really stood out to me (something I learned about while doing my research) because I’ve been working on adding spin to my shots, and this paddle makes that easier without sacrificing control. It feels like the paddle helps guide the ball exactly where I want it to go The construction of the paddle's "honeycomb" core also surprised me. I had no idea what that meant at first, and honestly a lot of the jargon is just nerdy, tech-talk, but I can tell you it makes hitting the ball feel solid and steady. It absorbs the impact in a way that makes the paddle feel forgiving, even when I miss the sweet spot a little. Speaking of which, this thing has a big sweet spot, much larger than my first paddle. It takes some of the pressure off trying to hit the ball perfectly every time, which is nice because as much as I enjoy playing, I'm still not very good lol. The paddle also has a nice grip and weight. Like I said, I'm getting up there in years and I tend to fatigue a little faster than I used to and my grip isn't as strong, so every little bit helps. Here's something else I thought was pretty cool: Last week, I got the chance to play with some more experienced players, and one of them actually asked to try my paddle because they liked the feel of it. That felt like a small win for me, knowing I’ve got gear that holds up even at a higher level of play. Now, if I can just up my own game... Anyway, if you’re starting out like I was a few months ago and you’re ready to take things a little more seriously, this paddle is worth the money. It’s beginner-friendly but still has features that can keep up as you improve. I don't have any regrets and more than likely neither will you. ... show more

  • High Quality Paddle
Color: Blue Lens Color: 2025 | Max (All-Around Paddle)
Brief background: I've been playing pickleball for a couple years now after a lifetime of tennis. I started with a decent set of paddles, also by Selkirk, but as I got deeper into the sport, it became clear that I needed to upgrade my equipment in order to improve my game. I've used paddles of different materials, including one fiberglass paddle that I found surprisingly good, especially for spin. The carbon fiber paddles, however, are really necessary for higher levels of power and control. For anyone who is unsure, I'd want to be clear that there are many good paddles out there, and the higher-end paddles really do make a significant difference, so one must factor in how much money you want to invest vs. what you can get at a more affordable price. SLK is part of Selkirk's budget-to-midrange line of paddles, with the SLK Atlas on the better end of that. It's affordable while being a significant step up in quality. Of the Serlkirk paddles I've used, this one is the best. I'm impressed by it's "pop" and have confidence in its construction, as Selkirk is a very reliable brand, one of the major names in Pickleball. At this point, I go back and forth with this and another paddle. The other paddle costs more and is a bit heavier. I like the weight and power I generate with the other paddle, but sometimes (especially if I've been playing for a long session) I prefer this SLK paddle because of how light it is, relieving some pressure on my arm while still giving me the features I like. If you play the game regularly, regardless of your level, the SLK paddles are a good bet. If you've been using a cheap starter set, you will notice an improvement with a paddle like this one right away. If you're an experienced player, do your research and give this one a look. ... show more

  • A tremendous bundle, amazing value
Color: Bundle Lens Color: 2025 | Max (All-Around Paddle)
If you've played pickleball for very long at all you probably already know Selkirk is a huge name in the sport. SLK is a sub-brand from Selkirk. The idea behind SLK is offering the same quality Selkirk is known for in an affordable price-point for Intermediate players or players who just want to upgrade from their old worn out beginner paddles. This bundle includes two SLK Neo paddles, 3 SLK balls and a nice over-the-shoulder case to carry them all. This is PERFECT for couples thinking about getting started in the game. or maybe you just want two paddles and use one for a backup, or, again, just wanting to upgrade after playing for a while and realizing, "Yes. Pickleball is fun. I want to play!" The Neo plays great. I consider myself somewhere between intermediate and advanced (on a good day) and really enjoyed playing with the Neo. It's lightweight (These paddles weight just 7.8oz) which translates to quick to react action. The sweet spot isn't the biggest but the perimeter around the sweet spot seems more forgiving, not sacrificing too much control if you miss your sweet spot. The grip is very comfortable and slip resistant with raised ribs. It's a little over 4" long. I have big hands and like a 5" grip so if you have big hands (I'm 6'1") these grips might be a tad small for you but I played with them and played just about as good as I usually do. If you have a glove size of Medium to Large this grip will be plenty big enough. If you're looking to upgrade to SLK this is a very affordable way to do just that with one of the most popular brands in the sport. Have fun! ... show more
