I tried many paddles at 2 local stores and really liked this Franklin paddle. It was a 13mm at the local store and fit perfectly. The 16mm didn't say the grip/handle was larger, per Amazon's description, and so I wanted to get the best possible, and so ordered it first in the 16mm. Turns out the grip size is bigger, and this info is available on the Franklin website. So I reordered and got the 13mm, this one, and LOVE it!!! I'm a female, 5'8" 135 lbs, age 59. My husband loves his new paddle too, same Franklin one in blue in 16mm. His hands are MUCH larger and fingers much longer than mine. I'd say 13mm perfect for most women and 16 mm perfect for most men. My husband is 6'1" 190 lbs. ... show more

I like everything about this paddle except the grit didn't last. After 2 or 3 matches I noticed the grit was basically gone. After probably 6 it was completely smooth in the center sweet spot of the paddle. I'm still using it, and like the feel and pop off of it, but I was hoping it would last a bit longer for the cost. I just started playing pickleball and initially played with one of those other plastic 2 for $30 paddles but kept hitting the ball out of into the net because I couldn’t generate topspin. The first one we revived was heavily used, but a replacement was immediately sent and it arrives the next morning. This paddle is a wonderful paddle at the sub $100 price point. It has great spin right off the bat, but I can tell that will fade over time because the gray is just an added surface texture, but for players learning for the first few months, I think this is the best paddle for the money.
