Context: 3.0 player (because I make bad decisions), about 2 years experience no racquet sport background, play 3-5 times a week, over 55. I bought one of the $300 Selkirk "labs" paddles and I couldn't handle it - too much pop, hitting the ball off the cutout; I'm still not good enough to play with it a year later. I've been playing with a bread and butter filth which I really like. My son had the new Kosmos and let me borrow it - I added a hesacore gel and tournagrip overwrap to it (see pic). Immediately I noticed that my returns weren't going out as much as i was able to get more controlled power and topspin. At the kitchen better control on my dinks - and my speedups up the middle were catching a lot of people by surprise (and spinning down near the back of the court). And hard to determine as I took a class that helped me with my 3rd shot drops with his paddle - but when I was in the right position (waiting for the ball to apex) it was very easy to guide the ball into the kitchen. Sweet spot seems pretty big. The nice box came with 3 clear edge guards and two extra overwraps, nice touch; plus a few stickers (pic). To mine I added the hesacore but used one of the Joola overwraps (see pic), looks really cool and I like the feel of it, we'll see what happens when I use it later today. Trying to register the paddle through a web browser didn't work, I switched to the Joola app and that did the trick. Overall - I've played about 12 hours with my son's paddle and REALLY like it, it's my favorite paddle so far. Others have included CRBN 1X, 11six24 hybrid.

I am extremely pleased with this paddle. I have been playing for a long time and this paddle took no time to get used to. The control and pop is really good. Plenty of power ( but I will still add a little weight). The thinner handle is nice for a woman’s hands. Overall very impressed.

This is by far the best paddle I have ever used. Super light weight, huge sweet spot because of the new shape, and fantastic pop/control. This truly is the most balanced paddle I have used and is what I am recommending to everyone going forward. I came in 4th out of 18 in a tournament today and normally barely crack the top 10. Felt amazing playing with this today. 10/10

Let's get this out of the way - this is a great paddle. With an MSRP of $300, it had better be. It engenders very good control and spin. It is boxed very well and comes with an overgrip and edge tape for protection which is great. I played with it for a week (about 5 sessions) to really test it out. That is the good. But why do I knock a star off? The power is just good - not awesome. For $300, I expect awesome. This is my 4th Joola paddle going back to an older Perseus and also a C2 Hyperion. Both those paddles produced more power. It was noticable immediately. Those were also 16mm paddles. I had a friend who studies and tests paddles a lot use it for a couple of games. He regularly plays with a Joola Pro IV and he confirmed my observation that the Pro V has less power. It could be due to the KineticFrame, a redesigned throat geometry that you can find more about on the Joola web site. A couple of other nits - the paddle is a bit smaller than 16.5 x 7.5 by at least 1/16" on each. I noticed that right away and then compared it to a paddle from another manufacture and saw the difference before I measured it to confirm. The weight is as adverised however (I measured 8.05 ounces on my scale). The paddle also does not come with a cover Please, Joola, for $300 do you think you could include one? Another note - Joola lets you extend the warranty by another 6 months to one year. This is important because this paddle has a polymer core which isn't as durable as foam cores (which many manufacturers are migrating to). Some people do like that polymer core; I am agnostic. But they want you to register by using NFC and your phone. You also have to install an app on your phone to do. The process was a bit wonky. Even with the case on my phone off, it took a number of times for it to recognize the paddle. I wish the registration process - or really - obtaining that full year warranty was a bit less cumbersome and that I didn't have to install yet another app on my phone which is also intrusive. I don't want to sound too disapointed. Bottom line - the paddle is great. However, I expected the same level of power than my previous Joolas. I also believe that Joola should include a paddle cover at this price and to simplify the registration process to extend the warranty without having to use an app on your phone. Having said all that, I do recommend it - it's just that for the MSRP, the standard should be extremely high. Update 3/20/26 - I used the 14mm version of this paddle. For me it made a huge difference - so much so that I would rate the 14mm version 5 stars - the above negatives notwithstanding. It added so much more pop and still gave me the spin and control I want. I am not changing the star rating since I cannot review both paddles separately....I stand by my comments that the 16mm version did not give me the pop/power that I am accustomed to with other 16mm paddles. But wow - the 14mm made a huge difference. I never thought I wanted to move to a 14mm since I value my control game, but I will now do that. I gotta say - this is the sweet spot for me and does the trick. Still - it is an insanely expensive paddle and many others will give a performance that may not be as good, but not hugely behind. Up to you to decide if you want to spend that much for a paddle.
