  • Elevator Master Decoy
Style: 2642 NYC
Ah, the "Elevator Master Key": a beacon of hope for the claustrophobic, a savior for the sandwich-clutching, a hero for the "Oh-no-my-kid-just-dropped-her-shoe-down-the-shaft" moments. Or so I thought. Unfortunately, this little key turned out to be more of an "Elevator Master Decoy," leaving me with a lighter wallet and a heavier case of elevator anxiety. Let's start with the "master" bit. Apparently, these keys only work on about as many elevators as a goldfish can solve calculus problems. You're stuck in that metal box singing show tunes to yourself for the foreseeable future. And speaking of stuck, that's exactly what the person in the elevator would be thanks to this key. Because you see, it doesn't actually rescue them. It just lets you stand outside the locked doors and wave with a slightly smug, "See? I have a key!" before realizing you're basically the useless friend in every horror movie ever. So, to anyone considering this "master key" as their elevator emergency escape plan, I say this: save yourself the disappointment and invest in a good therapist instead. Trust me, talking about your fear of getting trapped with a disco ball and questionable music is far more productive than waving a glorified paperclip at a locked door. Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (only because it made a pretty paperweight) P.S. If you ever do find yourself stuck in an elevator, my advice is simple: sing show tunes loudly and hope someone throws you a pizza. It's worked for me in my dreams...sort of. ... show more
